Melissa blinked in surprise, letting a little amused smile pull up. She studied his face for a moment, before reaching out for his hand. "I know I'm being stupid when I trust her. And that's why I need you."

Lucas held tightly to Melissa's hand and kissed her, holding her close. "Well, I'm here, and I'm not gonna leave, so you better not forget it."

Melissa's smile stayed, as she curled up close to him. "I do my best," She whispered, returning the kiss softly. "But an occasional reminder never hurt anyone."

"I'm here for you, dammit!" Lucas shook Melissa a bit, his voice slurred. He was clearly a tad loopy. "I love youuuuu!"

Melissa laughed, nuzzling up against him. "I love youuuu, too~" She cooed in response, glancing up at him with a bright smile.

"Mmmmmm… you're cuuute~…" Lucas stuck his tongue out a bit and smiled, returning the nuzzles.

Melissa kept up her smile, reaching up and poking the tip of his nose. "Whatever you say, love." She hummed, pecking his cheek.

"Mhmm~… the drugs make my arms not hurt anymore, baby~…" He purred. "You should tryyyy it…"

Melissa's smile dropped momentarily, a look of surprise on her face. But slowly, despite her flushed face, a small smile pulled up as she tried to hold back laughter. "Should I? And why's that?"

"Mmmmm… I dunno… they're workin' for me, so…" Lucas yawned a bit and nuzzled against Melissa's cheek.

"But I'm not in pain?" Melissa replied, sounding a little confused. "Physically, that is."

Lucas shrugged a bit. "I dunno, they'd probably still feel good… I don't really know anything about drugs, to be honest."

Melissa gave him a soft smile, turning his chin to look at her. "Mm, well, I probably won't. But thank you for the offer."

"Mhmm~…" Lucas stuck his tongue out a bit again and closed his eyes. "When's your dad getting here?"

"He had a meeting, but said it wasn't going to be long." Melissa told him softly, curling up a little closer. "So I'm not entirely sure."

"Mmkay…" Lucas pulled Melissa close and buried his face in her hair. Cody curled up against Lucas's back and yawned.

"Mm… I love you…" Melissa mumbled, loosely wrapping her arms around him. "I honestly don't deserve you…"
(Cue doctor walking in)

"I love you too." Lucas hummed happily to himself. A doctor came in soon after and glanced around the room. "We need to speak with your guardian." "Um… I think he'll be here soon…?"

Melissa slowly started to pull away from Lucas, glancing between the two. "He's currently working, right now. But he said it wouldn't be too long until he could come." She further explained, taking Lucas's hand.

The doctor nodded and left the room. Lucas whined softly at Melissa, trying to pull her close to himself again.

Melissa laughed softly at his immediate response, scooting back to him. "Alright, alright. Relax." She hummed softly, kissing him before sinking down.

Lucas relaxed again when Melissa was back up against him, smiling softly to himself. "I love youuuu~…"

"Mm, love you too…" Melissa mumbled a little, burying her face against him. "How are you feeling?"

"Sleeeeepy~…" Lucas replied, nuzzling against Melissa affectionately. "What about you?" He asked softly.

"M'alright." Melissa hummed, looking up at him. "I'm also kinda sleepy. I'll probably go to bed early, tonight."

"Okay… are you gonna stay here with me again if they don't let me go back home?" Lucas asked softly.

Melissa glanced up at him, biting into her lip as she thought. She didn't want to leave him here alone for the night, but she was honestly so exhausted. "I- um… yeah… I'll stay."

"Yaaaay… you can share the blankies…" Lucas wrapped his blanket around Melissa as well and held her close.

Melissa smiled weakly, sitting up enough to kiss him. "Thanks, Lu." She mumbled softly, nosing against his cheek.

"Mhmm~…" Lucas kissed Melissa softly in return and huddled closer to her. "I love youuuu~…" He mumbled.
