"You don't need to be sorry, bud. I did it to myself." Mr. Brennahan insisted, sighing softly. "If you don't feel bad, I won't. How about that?"
"You don't need to be sorry, bud. I did it to myself." Mr. Brennahan insisted, sighing softly. "If you don't feel bad, I won't. How about that?"
"B-But I… I don't know how to… how do I not feel bad…?" Lucas asked, tentatively looking up at Mr. Brennahan. "This situation is all my fault to begin with…"
"You let it go, and don't think about it." Mr. Brennahan told him softly, giving Lucas a little smile. "I know, it's harder than that. But it's a good place to start."
"I guess I can try… I have a lot of trouble controlling my thoughts sometimes, though…" Lucas tapped one foot on the ground anxiously.
Mr. Brennahan gave him a soft smile, patting his knee gently. "Are you feeling any better?" He asked softly, starting to stroke Cody's fur.
Lucas shrugged, sighing shakily. "Well, the meds are wearing off, so… my head is clearer, but I'm also really achy and I don't think I'm allowed to have more pain m meds yet."
Mr. Brennahan sighed softly, shaking his head. "Sorry, not yet bud." He told him, starting to push up off the ground. "Not much longer, though. An hour, maybe two, and you can have it."
Lucas nodded a bit. "I might be asleep by then, though, if I'm being honest…" He sighed and held Cody a bit closer for comfort.
"Well, if you wake up in the middle of the night, you can have more. It might make sleeping easier." Mr. Brennahan told him softly, starting to make his way back to his seat.
"Okay…" Lucas curled up on the couch again and closed his eyes, trying his best not to think about anything at all.
Mr. Brennahan sat with his laptop, attempting to look further into the therapist list he had been sent. He was quiet as he did so, occasionally glancing over to Lucas.
Cody stayed close to Lucas to comfort him, only relaxing when Lucas seemed to have fallen asleep. Only then did Cody fall asleep as well.
(Shall we skip?)
(Yep aha. To when?)
(Couple of days, maybe? The following week, when Lucas can go back to school?)
(Sure, sounds good)
(Sorry for disappearing.)
Melissa yawned as she came down the stairs, backpack slung over her shoulder. She smiled as Cody hoped up on the back of the couch, whimpering at the sight of her. “Hey boy, how are you this morning?”
(Oh, also, I’m assuming Lucas would probably be going to therapy?)
(No problem, and probably aha)
Lucas had gotten ready for school already and was quietly sitting in the kitchen, eating some toast for breakfast. "Ready to go to school, Mel?" He asked softly. He'd gone to one appointment with a therapist so far and they put him on some antidepressants, which he was trying to get used to at the moment.
Melissa glanced back at him, giving him a sweet smile. “As long as you are. Have you had your meds yet, this morning?” She asked in a hum, kissing the top of Cody’s head. After doing so, she came into the kitchen, standing by the door frame. “We probably shouldn’t leave yet, if you haven’t.”
Lucas nodded. "Yeah, I took them. I'm ready to go." He smiled weakly and reached out to take Melissa's hand.
Melissa nodded a little, lacing their fingers together. "Alright, then. Come on, Cody, time to go outside." She chirped a bit, leading Cody outside. When she got the puppy settled, she started leading Lucas out the front door.
Lucas followed Melissa out, humming softly to himself. His meds hadn't kicked in yet, but he hadn't noticed them working super well yet anyway. He figured that he just needed to adjust to them.
Melissa glanced back at him, giving him a sweet little smile. "So, after practice, I have work tonight. I might have to leave earlier, but I'll be there for majority of practice." She informed him softly, taking his arms and wrapping it around her loosely.
"Alright, love… you won't be home too late, will you?" He asked, gently kissing Melissa's cheek. He knew he wasn't going to be able to participate in the upcoming game with the state of his arms, but he was allowed to participate in practice to a certain extent.
"Mm, not really. Probably about nine. Maybe a little later." Melissa offered as she rested her head on his shoulder. With Lucas's suggestion, Melissa had applied for a waitress job at a local restaurant.
"Sounds good to me. I might even be asleep by then, to be honest… I'm sure I'll be tired from practice. I can try and stay awake for you, though."
"You don't have to," Melissa hummed softly, kissing his cheek. "I might kiss you good-night, though. I'll try not to wake you up."
Lucas smiled gently and returned the kiss, holding tighter to Melissa's hand. "Thanks, Mel. I'll say hi to Cody for you when I get back from practice."
"Mm, thank you~" Melissa hummed, leaning into him. "You think you'll be alright, while I'm gone?"
"I should be. I've got a puppy to keep me company." Lucas smiled again and wrapped one arm around Melissa.
