"Wait- what?" Melissa asked softly, seeming confused. Normally she could figure out his elaborate vocabulary, right now was not one of those times. "What are you talking about?"
"Wait- what?" Melissa asked softly, seeming confused. Normally she could figure out his elaborate vocabulary, right now was not one of those times. "What are you talking about?"
"You know… people who don't have mental disorders like anxiety or depression or anything. Neurotypical." Lucas shrugged a bit.
"Oh- um… right." Melissa nodded a little, shaking off her confusion. "Well, for what it's worth, even though you're a little different, I still love you. I think you're pretty awesome, the way you are…"
"Thanks, Mel…" Lucas sighed softly. "Glad you think so… I think you're pretty great too." He kissed Melissa gently.
Melissa smiled weakly, kissing him in return. "I love you…" She hummed a bit, holding onto his hands a little tighter.
"Love you too, Mel." Lucas laced his fingers with Melissa's and huddled close to her.
"Mm… where'd Cody go?" Melissa mumbled, glancing around the floor. "He needs to join the cuddle party."
"Cody!" Lucas whistled and the puppy trotted over to him and Melissa, his tail wagging a bit. "Here he is."
"Mm, you've trained him well." Melissa hummed, reaching down to pet Cody. "Though that was really loud."
"Sorry." Lucas smiled sheepishly and pet Cody as well. "Gotta make sure he can hear me."
"Yeah, you think I'd be smart enough not to be so cuddly right then, though. I know it's gotta be loud." Melissa mumbled, scooting closer to him.
Lucas shrugged a bit and hugged Melissa more tightly. "Mmm… guess so. I love you, though~"
Melissa smiled softly, nuzzling against his cheek. "Mmm, I love you too~"
"How much longer can you stay, Mel?" Lucas asked softly, toying with Melissa's hair a bit.
Melissa hummed a little, looking up at him. "I haven't been here long, so probably another forty-five minutes?"
"Sounds good to me… hopefully I'll be out of this place soon." Lucas smiled gently.
“Mm, I’m hoping so, too… you said they might even let you out in time for my birthday. So it’s gotta be really soon, if you think that’s a chance.” Melissa mumbled, giving him a little smile.
"I hope so, yeah. I think that it's possible, love." Lucas kissed Melissa softly.
Melissa smiled weakly, curling up a little closer. "I don't even know what I want to do. I just… I know it's going to be better if you're there… and yes, that's incredibly cheesy."
Lucas snickered a bit and held Melissa tightly. "Yeah, yeah. It'll be better with you there too, Mel."
"Well, I mean, I doubt you'd be celebrating without me there. That just seems silly." Melissa hummed, kissing his cheek. "There's no real need."
"True. I do hope you'll be attending your own birthday, Mel." Lucas laughed, softly returning the kiss.
"Mm, no guarantees. I've got a very busy schedule." Melissa joked with a slight smile. "We'll see if I can fit it in."
"Fair enough. I really hope to see you there~" Lucas rested his head on Melissa's shoulder.
Melissa smiled softly, kissing his temple. "Mm, you do know I'm not really having a party, right?" She asked softly.
"You're not? What are you doing, then?" Lucas asked curiously.
"I really didn't have anything planned. Laura's apparently out of town for the holidays, so we're not going out." Melissa shrugged a bit. "It's no big deal, though. She promised she'd take me out sometime later on."
"Mm… well, if I'm out by your birthday, I'll try my best to make it special for you, okay?" Lucas asked, smiling gently.
Melissa smiled softly, face flushed some. "You really don't have to… it's just another birthday."
"Yeah, but it's your seventeenth. It's important, Melissa." Lucas kissed Melissa softly again.
