Soul Viewing

The simplest form of Soul Control magic. This spell allows one to detect the contents of a soul, be it the caster's own or that of another being. It requires fine-tuned control over one's Life Force. A thin strand of this energy is used to connect the caster's soul with that of the target, through which the caster can turn their Magic Sense to "see" the energies on the other side. This is easiest to do with physical contact, as life force is not very stable when exposed to the air, but talented mages can pull it off from a short distance away.

The target may have a vague sense of being watched or even violated. The spell is also risky to hold for more than a minute or so, as after that point the two connected souls may start to mix together through the bridge of life force.
