Human (born on Kauff, moved to Ondalay at around 12)
Average height, some muscle. Although Grady has always had a strong build (after all, he grew up on Kauff), being trapped in the wreckage of his ship ended up burning through a lot of the muscle and fat he had, which he's trying to gain back.

Curly; usually cut fairly short, a habit he retained from his time in the army
- Missing his right hand at the wrist
- Nearsighted
- Some obsessive-compulsive tendencies (though not necessarily OCD), as well as PTSD and claustrophobia
- His missing hand
- Glasses
- Although he's working to gain back the weight and muscle he lost while trapped, he still looks tired and unhealthy at the beginning
- Minor scarring from top surgery
Grady is relatively laid-back, at least compared to Niklos Holloron and Simon Fitzsimmons , but he still has a nervous air to him. He doesn't trust often, but when he does, he trusts very deeply. He's not much of a fighter, but won't hesitate to stand up for his beliefs or his companions. He's self-assured and confident, putting great stake in his abilities, whether that means his writing, his piloting, or his music. He tends to be very lenient on those he's close to, a prime example being his complicated relationship with Niklos Holloron, a close friend he met during the army who he trusts fully but often worries for and disagrees with. Very perfectionist view, which isn't bad in and of itself but leads to him being afraid of trying things (namely things like piano and piloting) one-handed because he knows he won't be as good off the bat as he once was.
Often keeps his right arm obscured so that his missing hand isn't noticeable.
Skilled pilot, writing, playing piano. Decent shot, but he's better as a pilot than a gunner.
To find a place for himself
Writing, playing piano, flight simulators
Stubborn, tends to be too lenient on people he trusts, fears that he's now useless since most of his talents (like playing the piano and piloting) require both hands. Emotionally closed-off. Very perfectionist view, which isn't bad in and of itself but leads to him being afraid of trying things (namely things like piano and piloting) one-handed because he knows he won't be as good off the bat as he once was.
Against the people of Chora
Grady was born and raised on Ondalay, but in a different city than Hank Schriver. He had a good childhood, becoming interested in starships from an early age. By the time he was around 12, he had come out as transgender and socially transitioned before applying (and getting in) to a specialized piloting school. He excelled at school, getting top marks and was offered a bundle deal by the Ondalan military once the Choran War broke out: they'd fully finance his medical transition if he would enlist to serve as one of their pilots. He agreed without hesitation, underwent both surgeries, and then was shipped off for training once he recovered. He was an extremely accomplished pilot, saving countless lives while in flight before being shot down just days before the truce. Used to flying one or two-personal ships, he had been put in charge of a military transport and was ambushed. He attempted a maneuver that didn't work with the ship's size and crash-landed on Yeley, being the sole survivor. He broke three ribs and was concussed, but he lost his right hand at the wrist. He was sent to Wols to recover.
