fingerprint Personality
Personality Overview

Poor Luc… he always had a streak of darkness in him. Born with it, they said. The treasured heir to the Amari criminal empire. It was always going to run in his blood. But that streak became a chasm after the accident. A void that ate everything that came before, and everything that was to come after.

He is sadism trapped inside the body of a man. Intelligence and hedonism warring for territory. His patience is as thin as a razor wire and yet as deep as the ocean. He howls with fury and howls with laughter in the next breath. His moods are volatile, dangerous, and the only way to steady him is to please him or give him an outlet, a distraction. The mafia was his outlet, for a time. Until it wasn't.

Sometimes that darkness can be tamed and the boy within returned, for a short time, if healing is done. When he is in a good mood he's like a grinning child, teasing and playful and content to focus on whatever is put in front of him. When he is in a bad mood… he is on the warpath. And without the mafia to focus on, Luc has been adrift on the sea of madness.

Sexuality

Luc is technically bisexual, but any of his forays with men have been... unfortunate for the man involved.

Friends & Enemies

Luc doesn't have friends. Mostly just people who work for him. His friendship is mostly unattainable. He'll happily spend a day or night with someone drinking and palling around, but he'll be a different man the next day and snub their very existence.

His enemies are extensive. Luc is very difficult to get along with. He has darkness in him and an abusive mean streak a mile long, and that's not counting the fact that he has been in the Italian mafia in the Amari crime family for well over 10 years.

Love & Romance

Luc has been with many women for sex, but none for love. He tends to treat his women like toys, or pets, to use until he gets bored, and women don't tend to stay long. The only woman he seems to care about - more than he should - is his sister, Carina.

Luc hasn't been trusted with pets since he was 12 years old.

Fun Family Facts:

Being the heir to the Amari crime family, and working as the Acting Boss prior to the family's destruction, Luc likely has a working knowledge of most big players in the criminal underground, as well as an immediate familiarity with anyone who operated directly in New York City or worked in their borough. It is also likely a default that he dislikes them, because he dislikes any mobster not working for him or his family.

He also dislikes the Bailey Clan and Kerrigan for attempting to (for the former) and succeeding to (for the latter) muscle in on Amari territory after the family fell.

History Overview

Luc is the de facto Godfather of the Amari crime family since the death of his grandfather and uncle in an attack against their family, but so far he has not been allowed to take the title. Fearing for their lives, his sister Carina has them hiding underground, as simple tourists in Snow Haven, until they can get answers.

He has been staying at the Pinewood Inn with his sister, his patience wearing thin as his boredom grows, and Luc is finally ready to step out and start doing something in this nowhere town.

Detailed History

CW: graphic accident as a child, traumatic brain injury survival

Giulia never loved Luc's father. She was pressured into the match after her love affair with Hugo Nilsson, a Swedish man with no ties to the Amari crime family, that resulted in the birth of Rotti's favorite granddaughter, Carina. Hugo was not Italian, and he would never be part of the family. But Guila insisted on seeing him no matter what her father said, and it caused… tension, between the Italian patriarch and the Swedish upstart who intended to sweep his oldest daughter away.

And Papi was not a man to be fooled with. He was a kingpin in New York City, where he was a third generation Italian immigrant and a third generation member of the Cosa Nostra, the Amari family being underboss to the Gambino crime family for decades. He was raised to Godfather in their neighborhood after the death of the family's boss only years before Carina was born. They did not need an outsider within their ranks. Eventually the pressure from the family was too much for Giulia to take, and her relationship with Hugo splintered.

She started a brief, loveless fling with one of the numerous Italian men in Papi's army. It didn't last more than a few months, but it was enough. Not only did it conceive Luc - the newest Heir to the Amari criminal empire - but it forever shattered Giulia and Hugo's relationship. He would remain for two more years, until Carina was five, before returning to Sweden and beginning shared custody.

Luc and Carina were bonded since his infancy. She loved him fiercely, and he loved her the same; they were family, blood, even if it was well known that they shared different fathers. That never mattered to either of them. Carina was instructed to become Luc's Guardian, his bodyguard, as well as his big sister from the time Luc could walk, and she took it seriously. He was raised as much by Carina as he was his own mother and grandfather.

The only time the pair were apart growing up was when Carina left New York City to visit her father's family in Sweden. Luc always had to stay behind, as much as he cried and begged, and simply wait until she got back. She was usually gone for every summer vacation and sometimes every other holiday. Luc would be inconsolable until she got back.

That was when the first of his moods started to show, the temper tantrums, the violent outbursts. Still, these were relatively normal for a spoiled young boy and were overlooked. Besides, the Amari men needed their mean streak if they wanted to make it in the Cosa Nostra. This family encouraged his bad behaviors. He was allowed to throw punches and act out, as long as he treated his family, his blood, with the utmost respect.

Life was good through his early years, and he had no complaints. Except when Carina got her blessing from Papi to start attending a performing arts school for her music talent, rather than the private school she had been attending with Luc. He threw a temper tantrum of epic proportions, but Carina, unlike his family, had no patience for it. She was the only one to keep him grounded. She taught him the best she could about manners, patience, and life outlook. She was the light to balance out that dark streak in his blood.

If the accident hadn't happened… who knew how Luc would have ended up as an adult.

He was 12 when it happened. Carina's father had flown in from Malmo to attend a piano concert at school. He, Carina, Hugo, and Giulia were in a car travelling when something… happened. To this day, Luc is not sure what. An explosion? A car crash? An attack, targeting the children of the Amari family Godfather? One moment they were in a car, the next they weren't. He was on the ground. There was fire. His mother was nowhere to be seen. Luc was consumed by severe, blinding pain. He couldn't see through the rivers of blood gushing over his eyes. He screamed and screamed but it wouldn't stop. He begged to anything, anyone that was listening to end him. He wanted the pain to stop.

And it did. The next thing he knew, he was being pulled into his sister's arms. Carina tried to staunch one of the many wounds, and suddenly in a flash of hot fire the wound stopped bleeding, and the pain melted away. A surge of some energy surged through his broken body. Luc fainted.

Whatever had happened, Carina and Luc were the only survivors. His mother and Carina's father were dead. The children both sustained heavy injuries, broken limbs, head injuries severe enough to cause potential for minor brain damage. Luc's traumatic brain injury was the worst, and it had been clumsily healed when his activation point triggered and magic consumed his body. He would never be the same again. Not only was his mind permanently altered by the injury, it was also permanently altered by magic. Luc had been turned into a Mage.

The supernatural Underground had always been known to Luc. But it had been known the same way the Cosa Nostra was. It was a thing you knew, but never talked about. Knew enough to not live in ignorance, but only enough to still be able to claim plausible deniability if confronted. Now, he was a part of that world, as surely as he was a part of the mafia.

It took years for his body to heal, and even then he could only get as far along as he did because of his beloved Carina. She had been turned too, only to something called an Esper, and all her abilities were to help him. She was the only one who could stop his screams when the pain came roaring back, the only one who knew to come rushing when an episode was about to start. Luc clung to her like she was the only shining light in the darkness, and without her he would suffocate. As a result, she fell behind in her own schooling and graduated only a year before him.

It was only Carina that seemed concerned by the man he had grown up to be. He was fully inducted into the Amari crime family at 18, and he trained in the art of being a criminal. Unlike with the terrible slog school had become, the mafia made sense, and they were able to put him to work in a fulfilling way he hadn't experienced since the accident. Carina tried her best to get to to denounce their criminal family, but he would have no part in that. This was where he belonged.

Carina would have no part in it. She threatened to leave, and they had their first fight in years. She was hellbent on moving to Sweden, and he was hellbent on staying in New York City. Finally Luc let her go, but only if she let him bond her as his Familiar, so they could always have a connection to one another. She agreed. She wanted to be able to keep an eye on him anyway. So they were bonded.

Years passed as Luc found himself within the Cosa Nostra. He settled into the role of Caporegime with pleasure. He was in charge of his own crew, known for their violence. Papi and his uncle were proud of all his accomplishments. He made his first kill when he was 18, after all. He was an Amari man through and through. Even if they suspected the real darkness inside him, they didn't seem to care as long as they had harnessed it for him.

Carina would occasionally return to visit, and each visit it was harder for him to let go than it was before. He was past the age of temper tantrums. Now he was older, and stronger. He could have kept her caged to him. It was only because she was his beloved Carina - the name which means darling - that he let her leave each time she came, never suspecting how close he had come to sealing her to him forever so she could never leave him again.

He knew of her music world, and was dreadfully jealous anyone else got to share Carina with him. He hated her adoring fans, her bandmates, her music friends. Carina always wanted to keep that life of hers separate, as if she was ashamed of him and that life, and Luc let her because the alternative meant killing them all.

And then… another disaster. This time, a verifiable attack against the family. Carina had just returned home for a quick visit with Luc and Papi, when suddenly their home was attacked. It seemed intended to be a completely assassination of anyone in the building. In the ensuing chaos to escape, Carina and Luc watched their uncle, the underboss, gunned down, and while bodyguards hustled the two in a different direction to their grandfather, he watched him fall, too. Before Luc could move even a muscle in his direction, black with fury, Carina had ushered him down the safety route.

They escaped, but barely. By right, Luc was now the reigning Godfather of the Amari crime family, and as soon as the shock and the dust had settled he fully intended to take his title. It was all Carina could do to stop him. They had no men, no money. Right now, all they had going for them was that whoever attacked their family believed them all dead. She begged him to let it go until they could get to a safe place, and get some details. Right now, the Feds and the other crime families would be all over the place, if it wasn't one of them that caused it. They had to lay low.

Luc only agreed because it meant that once again Carina was with him. Forced to be with him, day and night, as they disappeared. Went underground in the Underground. She could make contact with no one, and that meant Luc finally did not have to share her with anyone else.

Through the months of their laying low, Carina was told that Snow Haven, Alaska was a place people went to when they needed to hide, and a place where a person could find information. So she dragged Luc with her to Snow Haven, a world away from New York City, in the hopes of getting answers… or convincing Luc to leave the mafia life behind completely. Little realizing Luc had no intention of leaving it behind. He had every intention of slaughtering their family's killers and rising the Amari family from the ash and blood of the battlefield.

But Luc didn't anticipate how boring Snow Haven was going to be. He's spent months locked up in their room at the Pinewood Inn, bored and without any kind of distraction or stimulus. He began to act out again, argue with Carina again. It's gotten to the point now where they're at each other's throats all the time. Luc, even in the back of his amoral mind, worries that he may do something drastic to his sister.

He needs a new outlet. And soon.

ac_unit Magic Info
Species Type

Luc is a Mage, turned at age 12 during a traumatic car accident in which he lost his mother.

Awareness Overview

Before his turning, Luc was aware of the supernatural only in the barest terms. Since his turning, he has been deeply involved in all family matters that concern the underground - and as he grew older, eventually began to lead any of the family's operations in that department, alongside the other supernatural creatures in their family and employ.

Powers

Luciano is a turned Mage, turned after a horrific accident when he was 12. His magic has always been on the verge of being out of control, wild and hard to manipulate, and as volatile as his moods. Now that he's older he's managed to wrestle it into some sort of symbiotic relationship, where his moods provide fuel for the magic and the magic does his bidding, whether conscious or not.

Luc has never used his magic for anything good in this world, besides one thing. He only ever uses black magic, to the point where it's a wonder whether he can perform anything like a charm or a healing spell. The only time he ever used it for a non-aggressive purpose was when bonded his sister Carina as his Familiar.
