The distinctive pattern is identified by Cain as “Abel’s eyes”. Further reinforced by Lucifer when he meets Joyce.

In Apocalypse!verse, the sclera of her left eye is dark red and irregular, like a burst blood vessel.

Ever since Joyce survived the 12 days she was kidnapped by Belial, she has only slept when her head is on a person’s chest (usually a family member). As she gains a better understanding of her powers, she sleeps even less.

Joyce is reluctant to meet new people, but when she does accept them she becomes extremely clingy; almost to the point of insufferable. She hates being alone to the point where she will tolerate a room full of complete strangers than be alone. Joyce has a habit of casual touching when in close proximity to well-known acquaintances.

She is ambidextrous but will favor certain handedness for certain skills. For example, she will only write with her left hand or she will only eat with her right hand.

Prefers to refer to family by title or title and name, e.g. Uncle Noah and/or uncle vs. Noah.

Hair-trigger temper, when she isn’t dissociating. She’s vindictive and values the vengeance of justice. Most of the time she will be blank, she hardly emotes unless the emotion is very strong.

Joyce was born to a young woman who ran away from home at a young age. This young woman was raised with the skills to be a hunter in a sheltered cult, the Tenfold Order of Infinite Light. After some time, she was possessed by a demon for nine months. During those nine months, a baby was gestating inside her. After the birth of the child, the unknown demon left the young woman. The young woman settled in the small town of Babylon, New York and had her child baptized as Joyce.

At the age of four, Joyce saw her mother hang herself out of stress. She stayed with the body for five days until the neighbors called for the police to check on her.

Joyce was placed into the foster care system since her mother used an alias to settle in the town and no kin could be traced. For a few years, she was bounced between homes each one encountering an accident that resulted in the death of the primary caretaker. She was finally adopted into the Gardners through Isaac Gardner after fostering her for a year.

Double layered coat:

Inner coat is navy and hip-length. Outer coat is white, stops mid-thigh and has a hood. Both are left unzipped most of the time.

Hip pouch:

Black tactical hip pouch that has a second strap around the thigh. Inner pouch holds her Compendium. The outside has sheaths for her two knives, one silver and one iron. Hangs from her left side. Made with help from Noah Gardner.

Magnetic Clip:

A strong magnetic clip attached to her waist. Meant to keep the Soul Cage attached to her person by a ring at the top.

Dog Tags:

Uncle Noah’s dog tags. He gave them to Joyce when he retired from hunting to live with his brothers. They are attached to a ball chain necklace and hang over her shirt. When anticipating a fight, she tucks them under.
