In the Apocalypse timeline, Joyce was never adopted by the Gardners.

Instead, Belial took her and hid her away when her mother committed suicide. Joyce managed to escape by using the Summoning Tube that her mother had given her. She then spent her life on the run with Helel as her only companion.

In the plan for raising Lucifer, all descendants and reincarnations of Abel were systematically killed by the demons. As more died, the memories and personality of Abel began to coalesce in Joyce, the last remaining reincarnation. At the same time as her victory over the Tower of Babel, Abel awakened. All 50 fragments of Marduk restored and rightfully named the King of Demons in this timeline, Lucifer’s heir was complete.

However, Lucifer in this timeline was defeated in 2007.

She was instructed to find the Cosmic Egg by Inanna, the last remaining pagan god, to jumpstart the world reincarnation process. Once the world faced a sufficient enough calamity and was made empty .

Instead of the Soul Cage, Joyce activated her summoning magic by slashing her throat. She does not bleed when using this magic; red flower petals will leak out of the wound and signify her magic is active.
