Taha forced another chunk of chicken down and studied the RainWing as discreetly as possible. What did he care about the old island? She didn't even care about the island and she was a NightWing!
Right?
"I saw the island… after it blew up," Taha admitted, "but my father lived there, I'm pretty sure."

(Omg the poor thing—)

Topaz shook her head. She seemed annoyed. “You’re wasting my time,” she said harshly. “Do your scrolls have a mind of their own or something?”

(Poor boy is all over the place)

"Uh… something like that." Fireworm flicked his tail, glaring at his bag as one of the scrolls started moving up. He quickly grabbed the bag, shoving the scroll down. "Charlotte! You're not helping!" He hissed, looking at the small leopard gecko hiding away inside. He'd found the little thing a few months ago, and had decided to keep her as a pet. "You promised you'd behave!"

Topaz sighed, growling a bit. “Are you nearly done with this charade? And, who’s Charlotte-?” She narrowed her eyes at Fireworm.

(Sorry for short response-)

Aurora tilted her head at the IceWing for a moment, then looked through her bag. “I’m sorry, I don’t quite understand…” she started in a polite tone, then pulled out a scroll and some ink. “but it seems like you’d prefer not to speak. Would you rather write it down?” She gave the IceWing an apologetic smile.

She smiled again, taking the scroll and quickly wrote; 'Hello. My name is Sapphire. I can't speak, but I can hear you. This SeaWing is Hatchet, she is incredibly shy. Be nice to her.' Her writing was incredibly neat, despite how fast she moved her talon across the paper.
Meanwhile, Hatchet was covering her face with her wings, trying to hide despite being a purple void in the middle of the day.

Aurora read Sapphire’s message and nodded. “I understand.” She smiled. “It’s a pleasure to meet you both. My name is Aurora.”

(You're fine! It's not a problem. :3)

"Uh- Nobody!" Fireworm stepped in front of the bag, hiding it from Topaz's view. "I-it's nothing! Don't worry about it." He had maybe snuck Charlotte into the academy without his parents' knowledge. He had hoped that having her with him would bring some extra comfort while he was so far from home. Now that he was here, surrounded by dragons that would probably eat Charlotte if given the chance, he was starting to rethink his decision a little…

Topaz stepped forward, glaring at Fireworm. “You’re lying,” she said, snarling. “I don’t like being lied to, you know.” She glanced behind Fireworm. “Is Charlotte some sort of… pet?” She said with a hint of disgust.

(sobs IM SO SORRY ABOUT TOPAZ, FIREWORM, POOR BOY)

@PastelTart

Fireworm stepped back, glancing nervously over his shoulder. "Uh, I…" He curled his tail protectively around the bag, as if that would somehow keep Topaz from doing anything. "I don't- That is, I…" He trailed off, unsure of what to say. He really wished he could be brave like his sister. Rosefinch wouldn't be fumbling over her words, she'd be doing something.

Fireworm was never good at doing. He wasn't even good at talking. Not to other dragons, at least. That's why he preferred animals. They were much easier to talk to.

Topaz glared daggers at Fireworm. “Do you even know how to speak?” She slowly stalked towards the bag, but didn’t really have any intention of looking into it. She just wanted to put Fireworm in his place.

@PastelTart

"O-of course I do! I just…" Fireworm pushed the bag farther behind him, trying to keep Topaz away from his pet. "I… get nervous." He admitted, shuffling his talons. "I never know what to say to other dragons, and they just think I'm weird! I mean, it wasn't so bad back home, but it's different here! This is my first time away from home, and on top of that I have to be separated from my sister. And it's not like I can just rely on a scroll to tell me how to talk to other dragons, and… and…"

Fireworm trailed off, realizing he'd started venting. "…I've been talking for too long. Uh, I'm sorry." This was why he didn't want to come here. He knew he'd only make a fool of himself. This was why his only friend was a gecko…

(Omg I feel so bad for Fireworm like I’m sorry dude Topaz is a jerk-)

Topaz stared at Fireworm for a little longer then shook her head. “I knew this was a waste of time,” she said, shaking her head. After a few moments of uncomfortable silence, the SkyWing walked briskly out of the room and away to who knows where.

Famine heard some voices that echoed down the long hallways. She followed the voices, and came upon an opening with fruit and dead animals all over the place. Inside there were other dragons, too. Famine swallowed. "Okay, Famine, just walk up to someone. Or maybe just get something to eat." Famine thought. They walked over to a tiny squirrel that was lying in the corner of the prey center and they picked it up in their jaws.

Fireworm breathed a sigh of relief, then turned to look in his bag. "That was too close, Charlotte. We almost got caught!" The gecko stared at him silently, as geckos do. "Don't look at me like that, what if she ate you?" Fireworm lifted Charlotte from the bag, gently sitting her on his shoulder. "Look, we just have to be careful, okay? I can't let anything happen to you, you're my best friend! Well, besides Rosefinch, of course." He sighed, stacking his scrolls into a neat pile. "I hope she's doing better than we are…"

Dartfrog's voice had long fizzled out of Taha's mind. Amongst the chaos of the Prey Center, she made mental notes of any dragonet that wasn't a blur of stomping scales. Specifically, though, she was looking for SandWings.

(Uh— maybe— my brain’s fried I just got done with day 1 of standardized testing-)

Famine began eating the squirrel, her eyes still darting around the Prey Center. There were many dragons here, and many of whom were arguing and being quite loud. Famine thought they recognized one NightWing, back from the rainforest, but she wasn't sure.

he seemed to ease up a bit, "well figured. that's probably why you're so cool." he said cheerily to taha , but fell quiet again when he realised she wasn't listening. he wished then, that he was back in the desert with his friend heatwave. back then he always had something to do or somewhere to be, but now there wasn't anything to do but read, or have awkward convorsation.

@im-with-stoopid pets

An odd silence fell over Taha, and she realized with a jolt that Dartfrog had stopped talking.
"I'm so sorry!" She blurted. "It – it just happens – my mind, it… it gets really loud sometimes."
She snuck a glance over at the SandWing she had locked eyes with, but they were gone.

With a glance at the 2 talking dragons, Famine wolfed down the squirrel with one last bite and pulled the map Fatespeaker gave her from out of her bag. "Hmm… Zircon Winglet." Famine thought. Looking at it, Famine stepped out of the Prey Center to go find their cave.

@PastelTart

Rosefinch entered the prey center, looking around to see if she recognized anyone. She was mostly looking for Fireworm, since they had agreed to meet up after finding their caves. I hope he's doing alright. Her brother had always been nervous, and she was worried about leaving him alone in a new place. Maybe she should go look for him? But what if he came to the prey center and she wasn't there?

She was pulled from her thoughts when her stomach grumbled. "Guess I'll just wait for him here." She muttered to herself, grabbing a mango and settling somewhere she could easily keep an eye on the entrance.

he was startled to say the least and jumped a bit, totally lost in thoughts of the desert, "oh it's fine. but i was thinking of trying to find the rest of our winglet now. i mean, i know i'll meet them tomorrow, but im really not a waiting kind of dragon. wanna come?" he said with a smile. he got up, took once last bite of food and really tired his hardest to wait for taha before beginning his search.
