Melissa smiled gingerly, leaning up against him. "Love you, too…" She replied, barely above a whisper.
Melissa smiled gingerly, leaning up against him. "Love you, too…" She replied, barely above a whisper.
Lucas yawned a bit and fell quiet for a while, only looking up when Mr. Brennahan finally entered the room.
Melissa was half-asleep in his arms, barely shifting her gaze over to her father when he came. A sense of dread rushed over her, knowing Lucas would insist she told him later that evening. "Hey, you two. Everything alright?"
"Mhmm… the doctor said he wanted to talk to you, I think." Lucas yawned a bit and huddled up against Melissa again.
"Do you know which way he went?" Mr. Brennahan asked softly, leaning against the door frame a bit.
Lucas shrugged. "Down the hall to the left, maybe? We can probably press my call button if you want to."
Melissa looked up at him, furrowing her brow. "You have a call button?" She asked in a mumbled, still wrapped around him. "You don't need to. I just thought I'd ask. I'll be back, then." Mr. Brennahan interrupted, pushing back.
"Yeah, there's call buttons on cots in case you need help from a nurse or a doctor…" Lucas waved to Mr. Brennahan as he left the room again.
"Mm, why'd I have to go look for a doctor, yesterday, then?" Melissa asked with a pout, seeming a little annoyed. "I could have just called them up."
Lucas shrugged. "I wasn't thinking about it. I was pretty out of it at that point, Mel." He explained softly.
Melissa was still pouting, sighing softly. "I know… I'm just annoyed I didn't realize it."
"Sorry…" Lucas sighed, looking away a bit as he clung to Melissa. "I figured you knew about it…"
"It's not your fault. I'm just stupid." Melissa chuckled, seeming to be waking up a little. "I should have known."
"You're not stupid, Mel." Lucas hugged Melissa tighter. "You just didn't know. There's nothing wrong with that."
"I'm joking, Lu." Melissa hummed, nuzzling up closer to him. "I know I'm not stupid."
"Mmmm…" Lucas kissed Melissa softly and sighed softly. "Sorry… I don't really get jokes right now."
"It's alright, I know you're drugged." Melissa hummed, kissing him in return. "I don't expect you to be thinking straight."
Lucas nodded sleepily and buried his face in Melissa's shoulder. "D'you think your dad will be back soon?"
"Mm, probably." Melissa chirped, glancing back at Cody with a smile. "I really want you to come home…"
(He's probably talking to the doctor about mental hospital stuff aha)
"Me too… I really don't wanna be stuck get much longer…" Lucas sighed softly, gently petting Cody as he looked down at him.
(Ahaha…)
Melissa smiled a little, resting her head on his shoulder. "If you get to come home, what do you wanna do?"
"Mm… probably work on my homework. I'm having trouble getting a good grip on small things like pencils at the moment, though. Do you think they'll let me type it out?"
"Maybe… though I don't mind helping, if you do the work." Melissa replied softly, reaching up to run her fingers through his hair.
Lucas nodded a bit and leaned into Melissa's hand with a shaky sigh. "I don't like missing school like this… it's always so hard to catch up."
“I know, Lu… I’ve been taking as much notes as possible. I practically have the whole lesson written out.” Melissa admitted, twisting his soft hair around her fingers.
"I know, I know… but still. We're not in every class together, and I've always had trouble when I've tried before… but then again, Claus couldn't take notes for me when we were kids because we were always sick at the same time."
"Mm, that's true." Melissa hummed softly, sighing weakly. "I can try and ask other kids for notes. I just need your class schedule."
"Okay… I can text a picture of it to you. I know I took one at the beginning of the year." Lucas grabbed his phone and sent the picture to Melissa. "You shouldn't need to if I'm getting released today, though."
"You might be put on bed-rest for a couple days, though. Especially if you're still on medications." Melissa pointed out, pecking his lips.
"I guess so…" Lucas sighed. "Your dad has been gone a while… do you think that he'll be back soon?" He asked.
