"Mmm… but Lu…" Melissa whined softly, curling up closer to him. "You're using my words against me…"
"Mmm… but Lu…" Melissa whined softly, curling up closer to him. "You're using my words against me…"
"Well, is it working?" Lucas asked with a soft laugh.
"Mmm… kind of…" Melissa mumbled, sighing weakly. "It's not fairrr…"
Lucas laughed a bit and hugged Melissa tightly. "Sorry, love."
Melissa pouted, turning her head away from him. "No you're nottt… You think it's funny. You laughed."
"Mm… you're right, Mel." Lucas kissed Melissa again. "You tease me so much, though. It's gotta be my turn."
"Mmmm, but that's my thing… you can't take my thing…" Melissa continued to whine, burying her face in his shoulder.
"But I wanna get to tease you too sometimes." Lucas stuck his tongue out playfully.
Melissa huffed, looking up at him. She puffed up her cheeks, pouting. "But I don't like being teased…"
"Well, neither do I sometimes. But I deal with it." Lucas shrugged.
Melissa huffed, still pouting. She kissed his cheek softly, nosing against him a little. “Mm, why didn’t you tell me?”
He shrugged again. "Well, you enjoy it, and I'm willing to make that sacrifice for you to be happy."
"But if it makes you uncomfortable, I don't want that." Melissa insisted, kissing his shoulder.
"It's really not that big a deal, Mel…" Lucas sighed softly. "Teasing is a normal part of a relationship."
"But if you actually don't like it, I want you to tell me." Melissa insisted, giving him a gentle squeeze.
"It's not that bad, Mel…" Lucas sighed again. "Don't worry about it."
Melissa grew quiet, nodding just a little. She kept quiet for a couple minutes, face buried in his shoulder. "I- um… I love you…"
"I love you too, Melissa…" Lucas kissed Melissa softly and toyed with her hair a bit.
Melissa leaned up against him, staring out into the room mindlessly. She gently pet Cody, humming contently as he played with her hair.
Lucas rested his head back on Melissa's shoulder with a soft sigh, keeping his hand in her hair for now.
Melissa smiled weakly, curling up a little closer. "Hey… um, could I ask you something?" She asked in a soft tone.
"Hmm?" Lucas glanced up at Melissa curiously. "Uhm… sure? What do you need, Mel?" He asked.
"Well… I mean," Melissa mumbled, staying close. "You don't think things will be really different when you're… 'better', do you?"
Lucas seemed a bit confused. "How do you mean?" He asked. "Different how?"
“I mean like… between us. You don’t things are going to get shaken up, when you don’t exactly need me anymore, do you?” Melissa asked softly.
"W-Well, I don't think so… I still need you, even if I won't always be quite so dependent on you."
“You think so?” Melissa asked softly, resting her chin on his shoulder. “I really don’t want something bad to happen between us…”
"I do think so, Mel… and I don't think anything bad will happen. We're gonna be just fine, okay?"
"Alright, alright… I just- just wanted to make sure." Melissa mumbled, kissing his cheek softly.
Lucas nodded a bit. "I think we'll be perfectly fine, Mel. I might end taking care of you a little more than you do me, but it shouldn't be too different."
