"That's fair. I'm pretty much the same, except for a couple nights. Last night, for example." Melissa shrugged a little, rubbing at her eyes just a bit. "Mm, I should probably get up before I fall asleep."
"That's fair. I'm pretty much the same, except for a couple nights. Last night, for example." Melissa shrugged a little, rubbing at her eyes just a bit. "Mm, I should probably get up before I fall asleep."
"Yeah… wanna go get ice cream now?" He asked, shifting a bit as well in case they were getting up.
"Mm, sure. Unless you want lunch first." Melissa mumbled, starting to pull back as well. She had her arms still loosely wrapped around him, but she was ready to get up whenever.
"I don't care either way. We can stop back home to make sandwiches or something if you want?" Lucas shrugged.
"You know I don't actually want to eat, but that's probably for the best." Melissa mumbled with a sigh, getting up before offering a hand to him.
Lucas nodded a bit and accepted Melissa's hand, standing up as well. "That's what we'll do, then. Cody!" He whistled and the puppy came running. He picked up the leash. "Let's head out."
Melissa felt a smile pull up, and crouched down to scratch the puppy. "When did you train him to come? Am I just forgetting?" Melissa asked lightly, before standing up and starting out of the clearing.
"I didn't exactly train him. He just knows his name and my voice, and he likes me." Lucas smiled softly and walked along beside her.
“Mm, that’s true. Guess I didn’t put that into consideration.” Melissa shrugged a bit, pulling up a little smile.
Lucas shrugged and kissed Melissa's cheek. "I could probably teach him some tricks at some point, though."
"That could be fun. Maybe later today?" Melissa asked softly, her smile picking up at the kiss.
"Sure, if you want to." Lucas smiled as well and laced the fingers of his free hand with Melissa's.
Melissa nodded a bit, watching her step as they made their way through the forest floor. While they walked, she let herself sink into the thoughts with a soft sigh.
Lucas lifted Cody over the log again once they reached it and continued walking. Soon, they were on the sidewalk on the way back home.
Melissa kept to herself, gently resting her head against him. After a couple of minutes she hesitantly started to talk again. “Hey Lu, can… can I ask you something?”
"Hmm?" Lucas looked down at Melissa curiously, his heart starting to speed up a bit. "Y-Yeah, of course. What is it?" He asked.
"You… you really do like me, right?" Melissa asked softly, mindlessly starting to bite into her lower lip. "You don't think I'm obnoxious… or boring?"
"Of course I like you, Mel. Why do you think I don't?" He asked, pulling Melissa close to kiss her with a worried expression.
"I dunno… I'm just being stupid. It's no big deal." Melissa shrugged a little, letting him pull her as close as he pleased.
"You're not stupid, Mel… I want to make sure you know how much I love you." Lucas gently kissed Melissa again.
"I know you love me, Lu…" Melissa told him softly, kissing him in return. "There's not really any doubt that you do."
Lucas sighed softly and stopped so he could hug Melissa. "Well, I do… I love you, I like you, and I greatly enjoy your company."
"You really don't think I'm needy and obnoxious?" Melissa asked softly, burying her face in his shoulder.
"Of course not. If anything, I'm the needy and obnoxious one. I'm more emotionally demanding than like, any other guy my age that I've met."
Melissa laughed softly, lifting her head to kiss him. "I have to say, it's partially true. You aren't obnoxious, but you can be needy at times." She told him with a smile, kissing him again on the nose.
Lucas returned the kisses, smiling gently. "Sorry for being so demanding, darling. It's good to know that you don't mind, though."
"You don't need to apologize, I know you can't help it most of the time." Melissa hummed softly, nosing against him with a bright smile.
Lucas nodded, holding Melissa close and resting his head against hers. "Yeah… I'm still sorry that you have to deal with me, though."
Melissa held on to him, sighing lightly. "I really don't feel like it's dealing with you, if I want to help. It's my choice, and I like helping you."
"And that's how I feel with you. If you ever need my help, I want to help you. It's not a burden on me."
