"Mm, probably flowers. Cards. Stuff like that." Melissa mumbled a little, looking up at him. "But who knows."
"Mm, probably flowers. Cards. Stuff like that." Melissa mumbled a little, looking up at him. "But who knows."
Lucas nodded a bit and huddled closer to Melissa. "Alright… I assume that's allowed as long as there's nothing sharp."
"Mm… probably… you're allowed to take notebooks, and stuff like that. So I don't see why cards would be any different." Melissa mumbled, her hold on him loosening.
"Right…" Lucas sighed softly. "I really don't wanna go…" He whispered. "B-But I know that I don't have a choice…"
"I know Lu… I really wish I could do something about it…" Melissa mumbled, her eyes growing heavier. She was trying to fight sleeping, but it was so nice curled up with him…
Lucas nodded weakly and moved a bit closer to Melissa. "Do you know when they're going to come and move me?"
"Mm, no…" Melissa shook her head slightly, rubbing at her eyes. "I really don't, Lu."
Lucas sighed and nodded. "Alright… guess that's not gonna be fun to find out later."
Melissa looked at him, giving him an apologetic look. "I'm really sorry I don't know… I'm sorry for not being able to help you… I just- I don't know what I could have done differently…"
"It's not your fault, Melissa… none of this is your fault." Lucas gently kissed Melissa's cheek. "It's just… a bad situation."
"Yet here I am, thinking it is." Melissa mumbled, burying her face into his shoulder. "I'm probably not helping stress levels, am I?"
Lucas smiled weakly. "I don't think much of anything is going to help my stress levels right now. I'm terrified."
Melissa sighed softly, nodding just a little. "So there's nothing I can do, then?" She asked weakly as she pulled back.
"Unfortunately, I doubt it." Lucas huddled close to Melissa again when she pulled away. "I'm just trying not to think right now…"
“Mm, do you want a distraction?” Melissa asked, kissing his forehead softly. “Or just keep quiet and cuddle?”
"Whatever you wanna do is fine… I don't care…" Lucas wrapped his arms around Melissa's neck.
Melissa nodded softly, curling up closer. She kissed his lips softly, nosing up against him. “You know I love you, right?”
"I love you too…" Lucas weakly returned the kiss and nuzzled against Melissa affectionately. "I don't wanna leave you…"
Melissa smiled softly, scrunching her nose up a bit at the nuzzling. “I don’t want you to leave… but you’ll be happier…”
Lucas sighed. "Somehow I doubt it, but thanks for the sentiment, I guess… I'm really not looking forward to it."
“If I promise to come see you whenever possible, would that make it better?” Melissa asked softly, starting to play with his hair.
"I guess so…" Lucas leaned into Melissa's hand with a shaky sigh. "I'm just… whenever I think about it I get panicky."
"We can stop talking about it, if you'd prefer." Melissa whispered, twisting his hair around her fingers gently.
Lucas nodded and closed his eyes again, burying his face in Melissa's shoulder. "I don't like the idea of it…"
"Then we'll talk about something else…" Melissa trailed, trying to think of something. "How about when you get back, I take you to go get ice cream? We can go to the clearing, too."
"Okay… I'm gonna miss the clearing." Lucas sighed. "It's my safe place and I'm not gonna be able to go there…"
Melissa cringed mentally, knowing she shouldn't have brought it up. "Well, it's going to be here when you get back. It's not gonna go anywhere."
Lucas nodded a bit and held more tightly to Melissa with his good arm. "And the sunflower field…"
Melissa smiled softly, kissing the top of his head. "If they'll let me, I could bring you some..?"
"Mm… maybe?" Lucas gently nuzzled against Melissa again. "I guess it's worth a shot, right?"
