“You’re sure? You’ve got enough stuff to deal with, without me to deal with.” Melissa replied softly, starting to play with his hair.
“You’re sure? You’ve got enough stuff to deal with, without me to deal with.” Melissa replied softly, starting to play with his hair.
"I'm absolutely sure, Mel." Lucas leaned into Melissa's hand, smiling softly. "I'm always happy to help."
“Mm… alright if you’re sure.” Melissa smiled softly at him with a sigh. “We ready to keep going?”
Lucas nodded a bit and took Melissa's hand before starting to walk again. "We're going to go get lunch at home, right?"
Melissa nodded as well, pecking his cheek. “Yup. Us and Cody need more water before it gets too hot out, as well. We might even want to leave him here before going to get ice cream.”
"Yeah, probably. Dogs aren't allowed in the shop anyway." Lucas returned the kiss, humming softly.
"Mhmm… and I don't want him to hurt his paws, if the sidewalk gets too hot." Melissa shrugged a little, continuing on with a smile.
Lucas nodded a bit, leading Melissa along. "Mhmm. Luckily, we're almost back home."
"Yup, my house is only a block or so from here." Melissa hummed lightly, glancing down to Cody.
Lucas nodded again and was quiet until they got back home. He grabbed a bowl, filled out with water, and took it out into the backyard.
Melissa watched him disappear with Cody, and set both her water bottle and the baseball down on the table. Once her hand were empty, she walked up to the fridge to start working on lunch for them.
Lucas returned a couple of minutes later and kissed Melissa's cheek. "Hey. I'm back." He said, smiling gently.
Melissa smiled lightly, leaning back to kiss him. "Hey, handsome. Did you get Cody all set up?"
"Mhmm." Lucas flushed a bit as he returned the kiss. "He's got his water, so he should be alright."
"Mm, alright. I got you a sandwich." Melissa said lightly, still leaning up against him. "I'm still working on mine."
"Mm… thanks, Mel." Lucas gave Melissa a side hug before picking up his sandwich and taking a bite. "We're heading out right after this, right?"
"Unless you have a better idea, yeah." Melissa hummed lightly, cutting her sandwich in half before starting to eat.
Lucas shrugged. "Sounds fine to me." He took another bite of his sandwich and glanced around the kitchen.
Melissa nodded a little, glancing over to him for a couple of seconds. "Are… are we doing anything else, after ice cream?"
"If you want to." Lucas shrugged, continuing to eat. "I'm down to do whatever you want to, Mel."
Melissa sighed softly, nodding once more. "I don't really have anything. We could always just come back to Cody."
Lucas nodded a bit, soon finishing his sandwich. "Well, I'm happy to do anything. If you think of anything while we're out, that's fine."
Finishing up her own sandwich, Melissa gave him a little smile. "M'kay… well…" She trailed, pursing her lips in thought.
Lucas listened attentively, smiling gently and humming a bit to himself. He took his plate to the sink.
"It is almost halloween. We could go to the costume store for fun." Melissa offered, setting her plate in the sink as well.
Lucas laughed a bit. "Sure, if you want to. What costume would we look for? Some kind of couple's costume?"
Melissa shrugged, kissing his cheek. "I dunno. It's just something to do, to fill the time. And it could be fun."
"Alright. Sounds good to me, Mel." Lucas returned the kiss and hugged Melissa, smiling softly.
Melissa smiled back, wrapping her arms around him with a sigh. "Mm… you can't carry me, can you?" She asked in a mostly joking tone, nosing against him.
"Well, I can, but maybe not all the way to the ice cream shop depending on how I'm carrying you."
