Nodding a little, she let a small smile pull up as she waved to the small crowd. "Alright. If you're sure." Melissa hummed, kissing his cheek gently.

Lucas nodded and waved as well, thanking people when they told him happy birthday. "What do we do out here?" He asked.
When he asked her that, she glanced up at him with a smile. "You wanna try corn-hole?" Melissa offered.
"Um… sure. How do you play?" He asked, looking over at Melissa.
"I'll show you," Melissa chirped a little, leading him over to the two boards. "I think you'll be good at this. It's kind of like throwing a baseball."
"Alright…" Lucas trailed after Melissa, examining the cornhole boards curiously as they approached them.
Melissa knelt down next to the board, picking up a few of the red bean-bags. “What you have to do, is take one of these, and try to toss it into the whole. Or at least on to the board.” She directed him, before tossing one of the bags in her hand over to the opposite board.
"Alright…" Lucas headed over to the opposite board and picked up his bean bags. He tested the weight of one in his hand, adjusted his stature, and tossed the bag into the hole. "Did I win?" He asked.
"With that throw, you're going to." Melissa hummed a little, giving a light smile. "You should have three more. Once you've thrown them all, we tally points to see who won."
"Oh, okay…" Lucas tossed another bean bag, this one landing just shy of the hole. "Is that still good?"
"Yup. As long as it doesn't end up off in the grass, it's good." Melissa hummed, keeping a mental tally of his score.
Lucas nodded and tossed his last bean bag, which knocked the second one into the hole and replaced it on the board.
"I seriously need you to teach me how to throw like that." Melissa laughed a little, before pulling her hair up. "That's…. five points. I think, at least."
Lucas smiled softly. "Years of practice, darling. I'd be happy to toss a baseball back and forth with you at some point if you wanted to, though."
Melissa smiled back, tossing one of the bags in her hand over to his side. "I'd like that. Maybe sometime after practice." She hummed a little, watching as the bag landed on the edge of the board.
"Sounds good to me." Lucas looked between the boards when Melissa had thrown her last bag. "Did I win?" He asked.
"Considering I didn't get any in, yeah. You won." Melissa hummed with a little smile. "Good job."
"Yaaay." Lucas took Melissa's hand and kissed her cheek softly. "Guess I'm alright at cornhole, then."
"Let me add that to the list." Melissa teased, using her free arm to wrap around him. Resting her head on his shoulder, she looked up at him with a subtle smile.
Lucas flushed a bit and kissed Melissa again, holding her close. "What birthday thing are we gonna do now?" He asked.
"Mmm… I mean, this is nice." Melissa hummed a little, before kissing him back. "Though I can ask my dad to get the cake."
"Oh! I haven't had cake in years either… I hardly remember it. Do you think I'll like it?" Lucas asked curiously.
"Mmm, I think so. I went out on a limb, and got lemon actually. I didn't think you would want anything too sweet." Melissa hummed with a soft smile. "It's got vanilla buttercream frosting. I think you might like it."
"Sounds good to me." Lucas smiled gently and looked around at the other people playing party games.
"Do you wanna stay out here, while I go get the cake?" Melissa asked softly, pulling back from his embrace.
"Um… I might go with you if that's okay…" Lucas laced his fingers with Melissa's, turning back to her.
"Of course. Would you also rather not have everyone sing for you? I don't want to grab candles if you don't." Melissa asked him softly, leading him back up to the house.
"Um… if they want to, they can, I guess…" Lucas followed Melissa into the house, fidgeting a bit with his free hand.
Melissa glanced over to him, and sighed a little. "I don't want to put you on the spot. It's awkward for everybody… I just have a feeling it'll be worse for you."
"Right… they might be confused, though. Singing happy birthday is pretty typical for birthday parties if I recall correctly."
