Nathaniel still seemed tense and skeptical, but he didn't try to get up again, much as he wanted to. His entire body hurt like hell; especially his wings. He kept his wings more to his sides, since it hurt more to lay on them. I hope I don't have to stay for long, although this guy seems to be nice enough… "I-I'm not too badly injured, am I? When will I be able to leave?" Not like I've got anywhere in particular to go, but I don't want someone to have to take care of me.
He stood straight and sighed. glancing at his watch "by the looks of you're injuries and burns, two days. That also depends on how well you're healing abilities are." V glanced at the wings and internally flinched, the battered things giving him the answer. "you should be fine if you don't try anything risky for now."
Nathaniel sighed and nodded, staring blankly at the ceiling. I hate being cooped up like this… I mean, I'm not free no matter what. I can't fly, so I can't exactly just go wherever I want. "I've just been wondering one thing… all this going on, and you haven't asked any questions. Usually people ask questions when they see my wings, although it's mostly just, 'Oh my god! What the hell happened to you?!'."
He laughed humorlessly "I just thought you wouldn't want to talk about it. You seem like you've talked about it enough. You don't need another questioner. Plus, it's none of my business. thats yours." he glanced away "I could say the sam about you. You havn't asked why I'm here."
"Well, I sort of did. I asked you who you are and where we are, although I suppose that's a different question, and also your business… I didn't even injure my wings in a cool way, ya know? Like, you'd expect it to be from some horrible battle or something, but no. Just some damn human with a shotgun."
V swallowed hard and internally flinched "you were shot at?" he asked cautiously, already cursing himself to damnation for even thinking of the image
Nathaniel nodded. "I was just flying and then some duck hunter shot my wing. Must've mistaken me for a duck or something. Either way, I fell and crushed my wings upon impact. It was probably the worst pain I've ever felt. Then the damn guy who did it just left me there for dead. That's one of the reasons I hate humans."
He nodded his head in agreement "some can be insufferable, yes." V ran a hand through his hair and sighed "it's late, you need to get some rest if you want to get out of here." He grabbed some blackest from a nearby closet "If you need anything, foods in the fridge and the bathroom is over there." He pointed to a door off the bedroom "I'll see you in the morning." He headed out to the living room and set up a sleeping area on the couch
Nathaniel watched Valerian as he went about grabbing things and then as he left. After hesitating for a few seconds, he closed his eyes and attempted to go to sleep. (Time skip?)
(sure)
V slept comfortably on the couch, tossing and turning a few time here and there but overall sleeping quite peacfully. He slept late into the morning, debating whether to get up or just stay in the comfort of the blankets.
Nathaniel had gotten up early so he could make his body used to being up and about, as much as his muscles screamed at him for doing so. He didn't really want to be a burden any longer than he had to. Honestly, he felt like shit, but he wouldn't admit that.
"I hate mornings…." V growled softly, arching his back into a stretch and running his hands through his hair "well, time to get this day over with." He glanced over to his bedroom where the other angel slept. "Oh jeez."
Nathaniel leaned against the bed post for support, mostly just trying not to pass out. He had his wings behind his back. At a closer examination, his left wing had a noticeable bullet-shaped hole in one of the joints, and the feathers were burnt and disheveled. He tried his best to take care of them, but the appendages were useless. He could still technically move them, but not well enough for them to be functional.
V stood and lightly knocked on the door "you awake?" He asked, standing in silence
"Yeah, I'm awake…" Nathaniel continued standing, but still didn't let go of the post.
V nodded in relief " what do you want for breakfast?" he asked, knowing he was being fussy but not being able to help it
"Oh, I….I don't need anything, thanks." Nathaniel smiled weakly, finally resigning to sitting down on the bed.
"Oh, ok"He retreated back to the kitchen and turned on some music, for some reason hating the silence of the room. He started to cook some breakfast, trying to distract himself for now
Nathaniel swung his legs back onto the bed and stared at the ceiling, able to hear the music from where he was. He couldn't quite determine what it was, but he didn't hate it.
Valerian finished his dinner, leaving some things out for Nathaniel in case he wanted to make something later. He sat at the dining room table and ate quietly, letting the music fill the room
If I still feel like this tomorrow, it'll probably be a while until I can leave… Nathaniel sighed, running his fingers through his hair. He couldn't stand being cooped up like this much longer.
V Sighed, finishing his breakfast "How are you feeling?" He asked, coming to sit near the door to his bedroom
"Honestly, like shit. But hey, otherwise fine." Nathaniel sat up and shrugged, ignoring the stars in his vision.
"I think those two cancel each other out." V laughed, leaning his head back "So why'd you get kicked?"
"I'm gay." He said simply, laying back to stare at the ceiling again. "Turns out, they don't really like that up in heaven. Also after I got injured I was entirely useless."
He nodded, a small smile spreading across his face "you're not useless and there's nothing wrong with being gay."
"Well, I'm not necessarily useless on land, but considering I can't fly… I'm not particularly beneficial to the angel army."
He shrugged "very few are." He muttered, running a hand through his hair "you were recruited for the army?"
Nathaniel nodded. "A lot of angels were. I was physically fit and passed all the entrance exams. I was even in a few battles before I went and crippled myself."
He nodded before realizing Nathaniel couldn't see his response "I'm sure you're family was very proud."
