“Mm, you sure? I bet you’ll have more important things to do.” Melissa insisted, noting they were in her neighborhood already.
“Mm, you sure? I bet you’ll have more important things to do.” Melissa insisted, noting they were in her neighborhood already.
"Well, if I've got time, I'll come visit you, alright? I'm sure I'll have some free time." Lucas shrugged.
“Mm… alright. Here’s hoping you can make my day better by showing up.” Melissa smiled lightly, starting to pull away as they came up to the house.
"Here's hoping." Lucas smiled softly as well as he followed Melissa into the house. "Alright… dinner now or in a bit?"
“Mm, I want to go check on Cody first. So in a bit, maybe?” Melissa asked softly, shutting the front door when they were both inside.
"Alright." Lucas headed out to the backyard to where Cody was and smiled brightly as the puppy ran towards him. "Hey bud~… you been okay without us?"
Melissa smiles softly, kneeling down next to Cody as he started jumping up and using Lucas’s leg for support to stand on his back legs. “Someone’s happy to see you.”
"Mhmm~…" Lucas sat down so that Cody could jump into his lap, scratching behind the puppy's ears gently. "Missed you too, Cody…"
Pushing back up off the ground, she gave Lucas a little smile. "You two are cute together." Melissa hummed, leaning over and kissing the top of his head. "You want some water, while I'm inside?"
Lucas flushed a bit and nodded. "Yeah, water would be nice… it looks like Cody drank all his add well."
"Then I'll get both my boys some water." Melissa hummed, giving a soft smile before scooping up Cody's bowl. "Can I get you anything else?"
Lucas flushed a bit harder as he shook his head. "N-No thank you… just the water is fine, Mel. Thank you."
Melissa smiled lightly, and nodded. "Alright. What about my puppy? Does he need anything?" She asked lightly, standing in the door frame.
"Mm… maybe some dinner for him if you're up for it. He hasn't eaten anything since this morning."
"I can do that, too. I'll be back in a couple minutes, then." Melissa hummed softly, starting inside to get the water and food.
"See you soon, love." Lucas kept petting Cody, who had settled down in his lap by now.
Melissa only took a couple minutes, coming outside with Cody's stacked bowls, and a glass for Lucas. "Alright, I'm setting your water on the table."
"Thanks, Mel." Lucas set Cody in front of the bowls when Melissa returned and stood up to drink his own water.
"Of course, darling." Melissa smiled softly, coming up to him. "You're sure I can't get you anything else?"
"Yeah, I'm sure. I can help you make the sandwiches later." Lucas smiled softly and took another sip of water.
"Mm, alright. Sounds like a good plan." Melissa hummed, sitting down on the edge of one of the chairs. "What until then?"
Lucas shrugged a bit. "Dunno. Hang out here with Cody, I guess? I'm sure he's been missing us."
"Mm, probably. I hope he didn't miss us too much, though." Melissa smiled softly, resting her chin on her palm.
"Yeah…" Lucas quietly watched Cody and thought for a few seconds. "I hope he does alright with us being at school and work all the time."
Melissa glanced over at him, giving Lucas a soft look. "I'm sure he's alright. If anything, he gets a little lonely. As long as we come back, he should be okay."
Lucas nodded and scratched behind Cody's ears gently. "Hopefully… and your dad can keep him company sometimes."
"Mhmm… we'll have to spend extra time with him, when we can." Melissa hummed a bit, reaching down to stroke his fur.
"Of course. He deserves it." Lucas smiled gently and continued to pet Cody. "Gotta make sure he's happy."
"Yup… just like you." Melissa hummed softly, glancing over to Lucas. "You deserve to be happy, too."
Lucas looked up at Melissa with a weak smile. "If you say so, Mel." He replied with a soft tone before looking back down at Cody.
