VERY SLIGHTLY POLITICAL RANT COMING
Yes, my political and/or religious beliefs may be different from yours.
Yes, we may not agree on a lot of things.
But that doesn't mean that I am robbed of the right to speak my beliefs around you, and that doesn't mean that you are robbed of the right to speak your beliefs around me.
Please don't cut me off and say that there are worse problems, even if there are. I just want to speak my mind freely.
We can politely disagree without insulting each other or making one another uncomfortable talking around the other.
And please, whatever you do, don't stereotype me based on my opinions and beliefs. Give me a chance and I'll give you one.
rant over - sorry, this is out of nowhere, i just felt the need to rant about it

Yall ever wonder what you mean to other people? Like do your close friends actually think they're close with you? Do they care about you as much as you care about them? And could you mean a lot to someone who doesn't mean much to you?

Literally all the time

Same here. I've had so many friends leave me that I constantly question the true intentions of the ones I have left.

@Starfast group

Ok, possibly triggering content in the spoilers below, but I'm enraged and need to yell about this.

Anyways, TLDR/ SFW version: friend is being a hypocrite in possibly the worst way.

@The-N-U-T-Cracker

according to some comments they also banned a whole bunch of right wing subs (which i don't really care about tbh, just let me have my cute doodle places and i'm alright)
however among them was RightWingLGBT
so now they're being hit with a heck ton of homophobia/transphobia accusations and while i'm not really following it much, man i haven't seen this much drama since the fall of the original PVC

Deleted user

yeah they also deleted fucking hate subs

I don’t think you’re taking it the right way, Ella. This is a good step for Reddit.

Well there goes the best places of reddit

BIIIIIG DISAGREE

Because right-wing and hateful subs made just to hate certain groups are the “best part” of Reddit.

@GoodThingGoing group

They banned r/thedonald and a lot of super far right ones, as well as the TERF subreddit (which I fully support banning, Reddit is not the government and so they are 100% allowed to ban whatever they want).

They meant the dark humor.

@The-N-U-T-Cracker

oh i have absolutely no opinion on the matter, i'm not trying to say reddit did something wrong, i just wasn't expecting this much drama when i opened my feed
i wasn't even following any of them other than darkhumorandmemes

A very good step, imo!

I was talking about the dark humor places

It’s good they got rid of the hate places

Deleted user

There’s a lot of hate on dark-humor stuff too

surprisingly

wow

offensive jokes

“dark”

wow

@GoodThingGoing group

It's also nice that Reddit is taking initiatives in banning, as opposed to waiting until they got media attention like with r/jailbait and the various incel forums.

@berlioz

I don't know if I consider this a good step. It's a private domain, so they don't have to be a platform for free speech, but should they? Like Jupiter said, just because not everyone agrees doesn't make it right for people to censor each other. I'm very against censorship (not in the case of explicit content, like p*rn, threats, suspicious activity etc. obviously), and Reddit was one of the few places were speech was pretty much free. But again, it's a private company so they have every right to decide what stays up on their website.
I don't really know if those right-wing accounts fit into a category where it would be right to censor them. If they didn't have explicit content, then why would they be? I don't go to Reddit, so I don't know what was on there. But I do know right-wing does not equal hateful. Eh. Reddit can do what they want. I'm just very against censorship, and think everyone's opinions should be shown in equal light, and available to everyone.

@GoodThingGoing group

It wasn't just normal right-wing subs, it was far right subs. Explicit hatred of others is considered banworthy, as it probably should be. It's Reddit's choice to make, and I think they chose well. People have freedom of speech, but not freedom from its consequences.

@Starfast group

They….they found what on his computer? I can't imagine ever staying with someone if I found out that they watched shit like that.

Me neither. I kinda want to confront her about it but I’m also terrified of confrontation so 🙃

@jupiter-sun-of-sweater-town group

I was in no way talking about Reddit with my rant, as I've never been on there (I know, I'm a loser), but I agree with Jyn's latest post. It's okay to disagree with someone, but hatred is a toxic thing.

People have freedom of speech, but not freedom from its consequences.

I think that is a very powerful sentence that I personally agree with. As I've never been on Reddit, I'm in no way qualified to comment on this, but just wanted to toss my obscure opinion into the ring.

@berlioz

I suppose I should say I didn't mean to connect your statements, Jupiter, to my little blurb or the Reddit thing. I just think the points you made could be applied to topics like censorship. But yeah, hate is bad, Reddit can do what they want, I agree with the "not freedom from it's consequences" thing, and casual censorship is bad. Anyway.

@Musical_Queen

I just saw an add where a Domino's guy just frisbee'd a pizza at a dude's car. Needless to say, I really like quarantine commercials
