Avia is one of the main Divergent members and is one of the most resourceful. She is also a survivor of The Facility which gave her technological based abilities. She is a major character and appears in the stories many times.

Her grandparents originate from Sicily, which is why her complexion is slightly darker than the average Italian.

• Lightweight and short however she has a muscular physique which is where most of her weight comes from (note: She uses agility, speed, and wit instead of relying on physical force.)




• She isn't curvy and is rather flat but still possesses muscle around her abdomen, legs, and arms.

• She has a large scar on the back and stomach. This scar is a result of experimental surgeries that have helped with her mutations and adding biologically compatible software to her cells and organs.

Is a gradient of dark blue, blue, dark purple, magenta, pink.
Strands of light blue to resent electrical lights circulating. Hair is an organic material and can morph. It can also conduct electricity.

Half of the head (left) is shaved to make way for fused technology and energy flows in the shape of circuits (see the gallery to reference).

Another half, however, is long and stop a few inches below her shoulder. However, she later cuts it short as it's a tendency to get in the way.

• Has been cautious around off-worldly characters
  Doesn't like people dragging in strays, especially when they're not from around. An example of this is Saoirse. If she has close connections to people, doesn't enjoy the idea of them possibly replacing her or getting her involved with people she hasn't met.




• Reluctant to not judge people by their cover.




• Is slightly sensitive on the mafia subject - Grandfather apparently had ties with them. (See private notes for La Stidda Mafia or Cosa Nostra)




• Doesn't like homophobia (though who does?)




• Doesn't like discrimination or racism (pretty basic standards here)

• Does not believe the government and is keen on certain conspiracy theories.
  The government (she believes) has ruined most part of her life and after being able to dig deep into political records and see the world from the inside out, she has learned a lot about those at the top.

  The most noticeable side effect is the glitching after excessive or unstable use of interfacing travel. Sufferer continues to glitch and phase after the journey and has to stabilize themselves in the real world. This condition is easily fixed however with enough training and certain antidepressants

• Flirtatious and Brash
  She is notorious for her flirtatious attitude to the people she feels close with, full knowing that it isn't actually an attempt to start a relationship (playful flirting unless it's with someone she actually finds attractive, in which case she means it entirely).




• VERY sarcastic
  The only trait that's more evident than her flirting is her sarcasm, technically being the most defiant aspect of her character. It can even lead to her breaking the fourth wall. She is prone to accidentally offending someone who couldn't tell it was sarcasm, therefore, seems quite brash and rude upfront.




• Intelligent, Quick-witted, Quick-learner
  She is intelligent both in the arts of computing and coding alongside social aspects and streetwise tips (like how to manipulate someone or know when they're lying). This leads to her social ability which is quite complex.




• Defensive, Shielded, Independent
  She is able to talk to strangers with artificial confidence acting almost like a shield, however, if she is intimidated by them then she prefers to avoid them. Due to being a guarded person, this leads her to sometimes pretend "not to care" as a defense mechanism (originates from her isolation from her childhood). She struggles to be a team-player sometimes or take on advice from colleagues.




• Loyal
  If it is someone she trusts, then she doesn't really shut up as she has a strong loyalty to them.




• Mysterious (anonymous)
  As most hackers have multiple or hidden identities. To those outside her social circle and occupation, she is a ghost to society.




• Empathetic, withheld by depicted insensitivity
  Cares about protecting those who are vulnerable emotionally, socially, or merely in danger. Her ability to hide her true fears and emotions can make her slightly unpredictable. The fact she never had anyone to talk to as a child/teenager has led to a result of suppressed feelings/worries which she has trained herself to do.

When in a happy mood, Avia is one of the comedic reliefs of the group alongside having lots of energy and eagerness.

-She loves to dance. Though she doesn't have a preferred style, she just picks up what she finds fun. Alternates between them all. She also does it for exercise etc

• She is a hacker since the age of 12, therefore, is extremely skilled at it, especially after her modifications in the Facility.

-She is keen on music and dabbles in making it.

-Another is flirting. She finds it fun seeing how people will react alongside but is usually caught off guard or speechless when someone begins returning the favor (Roxanne)

-The other eating Doritos. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

-She enjoys being on the internet (maybe a bit too much)

  As mentioned in previous sections, she's able to make it seem smooth even if she's panicked beneath.

  Need to know how to code, build and work a computer if you wish to take it apart.

  Her intelligence is displayed through emotional exchanges so being able to play on words and hold her ground during interrogation relies on being able to talk back quickly. She's also talented in the "intellectual sense"

  A way to maintain fitness plus finds it very fun. Taught herself mostly but did have ballet lessons as a small girl.




• Dabbles in making music

Appearance is a cyber/robotic/inhuman fusion - Normal people can sometimes see her appearance as rather intimidating.

Tends to butt in (Can be quick to correct) - Needs to know when to be quiet

Sarcasm isn't always helpful - it may be a defense mechanism but that isn't an excuse for being irritating

Can sometimes not be a team player/ too independent - been alone for a long time, isn't fond of playing in a team. Likes to know she has control or just prefers to deal with things herself

Hides emotions and bottles it all up. - You can't hide it all forever.

Many of her friends and colleagues are convincing her that staying alone in the Cylo isn't healthy and she needs to find a permanent way to interact with the outside world.

A job in her interest would be domestic counter-intelligence and security agencies and be part of its intelligence machinery alongside the Secret Intelligence Service, like C.I.A F.B.I or MI6/MI5. Her skills in hijacking would prove invaluable.

Avia was born in Florence, Italy on the 20th September 1994. Her father was Antonio (an art critic) and her mother Camilla Petelo (a counsellor). Her parents were very keen to start a family after prolonging it for a long time. However, tragedy struck when Camilla died several hours after Avia's birth from complications of childbirth.
Antonio was diagnosed with severe depression and never recovered fully from the death of his wife. Even more so, he now had to a duty of raising a child as a single parent. Antonio continued to struggle with money and soon fell into debt, however, hid his worries and declining mental state from his young, naive daughter.
On February 12th 2003, Avia went into her father's study late at night to see where he was but found that her father had hung himself that night. The police ruled the death off as a suicide and handed Avia an envelope that contains a goodbye note from her father. She has still not opened it from that day.
Now labelled an orphan, Avia was moved to Luca where her aunt and uncle lived (Riccardo and Daniela Bianchi).
Avia had now dropped out of school (of which she wouldn't return even with her grades) and due to grief, isolated herself inside her new room where she began to get absorbed by technology and the internet. At age 9, she began to hack and stayed in her isolation for 4 years where her skills began to improve and evolve.
On July 21st 2007, Avia had progressed to hacking the dark web and started to dive further into this dangerous place until she reached information which she shouldn't have read. Her Laptop got invested with a "virus" and began to learn her address and hack into her face cam. This terrified her and led her to destroy her computer.
For the next year, she didn't touch technology and spent more time with her family until the age of 14 where all went sideways.
On November 11th 2008, Avia's aunt and uncle went out to go shopping when she was 14.
After waiting for hours, Avia was tempted to call the police but was interrupted by intruders breaking into her home. She hid upstairs in the loft where she tried to fight off against her kidnappers but failed to do so.
The location of her aunt and uncle is still unknown.
Avia was taken to the Facility where she was experimented on/ tortured for another 4 years. She was assigned to project Malware, a project where a subject would be able to infiltrate and control any technological/internet-based systems alongside electrically run as well. This would place her as X-69, being a very dangerous patient and weapon against the modern world.
She was 18 when she escaped from the Facility in the insurgents run and is presumed to have been illegally hacking for 6 months.
Bruce found her trying to hack into one of his systems and bing in very bad shape, totally unable to anchor herself in reality and was glitching in and out of the physical world. He offered her a place at Abditory, but she fled. (only to later join)
She continued to grow as a character in the series and has several relationships with Roxanne Sinclair and Nathan MacAvoy.

September 20th, 1994 (in terms of 2015)

The character had an average education but skipped school for several years due to grief and family deaths. She was a good student at first but her grades plummeted and was nearly expelled on several occasions. She still is extremely smart and has the potential for a high-class job.

Based on my best friend because she likes Avia's character so much.

Her uses of humour, sarcasm and romanticising all are apart of a complex defence mechanism she withholds to hide the more vulnerable self inside. (This leads onto the scene with Brad where he finally gets to see what she is so afraid of and the part when she FINALLY talks to someone about her trauma and worries. (The first time we show her emotionally vulnerable)
