“Kaito shot him! He had my cape on…” kokichi started to cry against, holding onto rantaro tightly

Rantaro's eyes widened at the realization. He hadn't expected to hear that Shuichi had been shot, but it was more surprising that it was by his best friend, or he figured that they were best friends since they worked on almost every case together and seemed to get along well from the couple of times he had seen them investigating his or Kokichi's crimes. It was certainly an interesting situation.

"He was shot…?" he asked. It seemed that he was in disbelief. "Do you know where the bullet hit him, by any chance? Maybe there's a possibility that he'll survive."

“I don't know, I couldn't stay long, if they are shooting anything that remotely looks like me.. Then I have to be careful..”

Rantaro nodded in understanding. He understood why Kokichi would have to be careful, especially since just about anyone with some form of resemblance to Kokichi was going to get shot. It was what had happened with Shuichi, after all. He really hoped that the detective was alright after all of that. However, even if it wasn't a fatal wound, he would likely be traumatized. It was his own best friend who had shot him, although unintentionally.

"Fair… Do you think we'll be able to visit him…?" he asked, sighing. "I feel like he could use some support while he recovers from this…"

“You can, but they know who I am. “ he said softly before kissing rantaro deeply “ I'm going to disappear for a few days.. Please.. Stay safe,” he said before starting to walk away

Rantaro blushed at the kiss before grabbing Kokichi to prevent him to leave. He didn't want him to disappear, even if it was only for a few days. It wasn't safe for him to be anywhere on his own, even if he was trying to get away from everyone. He just wanted him to be safe.

"No, stay… I'll keep you safe…" he assured him. "Just stay, please…"

“I can't stay at shuichis place, it could get him in trouble..”

Rantaro sighed softly at the comment. He couldn't let Kokichi be alone, although he did understand that the other couldn't stay there, either. Neither of them really had a place to go, and that was why they basically moved in with Shuichi, but he couldn't leave Kokichi alone. He could be shot and killed if he did,

"Fair, but at the same time, I can't leave you alone… You could be killed…" he sighed. "We need to work something out…"

“ then run with me,”

(Ignoring the fact that I was distracted by my other role plays all day yesterday-)

Rantaro nodded in response to the suggestion after a moment. It was possibly the only thing that he could do if he wanted to protect Kokichi since there were so many people who wanted to kill him at the time. He didn't want his best friend to die, so he needed to stay with him just so he would be able to protect him.

"If I have to, then I will. I'm just not sure where you'd go when I'm doing other things. I intend on visiting Shuichi at some point, just to make sure that he's alright and stuff," he responded. "With how much you care about him, I'll be sure to update you. I'll make sure that everything's alright. I'll make sure that both of you are okay…"

Kokochi nodded, hugging tightly to rantaro

Rantaro held Kokichi close to him as he hoped that it would give him some form of comfort. While the entire situation had been an absolute mess, he was pretty determined to comfort the other and make sure that he was okay. He would also be sure to check on Shuichi when he could. He just had to figure out where Kokichi would actually go first.

"Well, what are we going to do?" he asked. "For when I can't be with you, I mean."

There's a building I can find at” he sighed softly “it's abandoned”

Rantaro nodded in response to the statement again as he was sure that Kokichi would be able to keep himself safe for a little while. He didn't think that he needed to worry too much if he went to check on Shuichi that night. Everyone was probably busy dealing with the events of that night to care as much about Kokichi. Besides, he needed to make sure that Shuichi would recover.

"Alright," he said softly. "You can head there. I'm probably going to visit Shuichi first. I know you're worried about him…"

“ thank you,” kokichi said and left to go find his building

Rantaro watched Kokichi leave before heading to Shuichi's room. If he was going to go anywhere, he would need to put on some normal clothes, so hopefully his clothing would fit him. He could always buy stuff at a later time, but he needed to get to the hospital as soon as he could. After hearing about what happened, he knew that things would be unclear with Shuichi, which concerned him, and he was worried about Kaito, too, since he did know that he was Shuichi's best friend. It was best to get there quickly to keep him calm and get updates when he could.

After changing, he rushed out of the house. It didn't take him long to arrive at the hospital, and once he did, he found Kaito pretty quickly. He knew that the other would have been pretty worried about his friend and probably upset with himself over everything, so he was going to comfort him to the best of his abilities. He was usually pretty good at providing comfort, so maybe it would all work out.

"Hey, are you alright?" he asked softly as he saw him. "You can talk to me if you need to talk to anyone."

“Rantato? Oh. No, I'm fine.” he said softly, his body was shaking like a leaf when he finally stopped pacing

Rantaro sighed softly at the very obvious lie. It was incredibly obvious that something was wrong, both from his knowledge of the events and the other's body language. He just needed to get the other to talk to him about it so he could help. That was all that he wanted to do.

"You're shaking," he stated softly, a light concern in his tone. "I know what happened. Please, talk to me about it."

Kaito froze for a moment before tearing up, “I shot him.. I was shooting to kill.. The only reason he is still here is because I missed.”

Rantaro nodded in understanding before he walked over to Kaito and pulled him into a hug. He wrapped the other in a tight and warm embrace, hoping that it would help provide some form of comfort to him. He had reasons to be upset, but Rantaro was trying to prevent him from completely breaking down.

"You didn't mean to shoot him…" he whispered softly. "You mistook him for someone else, a wanted criminal. Also, if I may ask, where did you actually hit him? You say it's because you missed, so where'd you end up hitting him?"

“ in his side,” he said softly

Rantaro nodded in response to the statement. From that information, he figured that Shuichi would survive and eventually recover from the incident, so they didn't need to worry too much about whether he would live or die. As long as he was properly treated, he would be fine.

"Alright. As long as they treat him properly, he should recover from this with time. He'll get better," he assured him softly. "Now, are you alright? I know that you're shaken up about this, so I want to make sure that you're okay…"

“ I'm fine..”

Rantaro shook his head in response as he felt the other continue to shake while in his arms. It was incredibly obvious that something was wrong, although that was understandable in the given circumstances as well. Even so, he did wish to help Kaito calm down to some extent.

"Stop lying…" he requested. "Talk to me about it. You can express how you feel… It's better that way…"

“I can't… Cops don't cry.” he muttered
