(They're fuzzy and small. What's not to like?)
Arcturus ran his fingers along the burn mark, checking for any serious injury. The Hound would heal, but that had to hurt. He kept muttering in Elvish, mostly grumbling to himself, but unconsciously weaving pain relieving incantations over Bane's wound. He noticed Bane come awake.
"Hey, Bane, we gotta go. You good?" His voice was soothing, layered with charms, but his words held an urgency.
He started to say more but was interrupted by the sound of Sardoth swearing and running off down the hallway.
That's not a good sign.
The sudden absence of the big man left the remaining guards with only their little band to focus on. Arcturus immediately stood up and spun in place, the lhang forming in his hands and decapitating all the guards stitched to the ground near them. The other guards flinched, and he took the borrowed time to yank Bane to his feet.
"All of you, Move!" He took a spot towards the back, firing arrows at the guards as fast as he could form them, steadily moving towards the exit.
A multi-colored portal opens next to the group, and a small pale hand waves the group through. A tiny, kind voice hisses at them to "Hurry through!"
Arcturus turned, and a shield formed, covering his back and the group as he faced the portal. Nahar's Hooves…
"Why should we trust you?" He yelled over the cacophony of the guards shouting and chasing them.
The voice, clearly female, shouts "Because I'm your only real chance of escaping!"
Quickly after this, a small face pokes out of the portal. She had pointed, tiny ears with a deliate, soft face and a petite nose. Her eyes were kind and shy, but currently her face was pinched in concentration.
Arcturus thought for a long second, before something heavy bounced off the shied and knocked him forward a step. He grimace and shook his head. Orome, help me…
"Alright, fine!" He stayed where he was, but urged the rest of the group forward. "I'll be the last one through, move move move!"
(Now we just wait for everyone else's replies.)
( XD )
(My brain cells have left the brain, lol. I never really go deep into what happens before and after he passes out from feral rage, so it’s kinda a test run)
As Arcturus ran his fingers along the burn, Bane twitched. He clenched his teeth. The burn continued to throb with pain, and he grabbed Arcturus' hand, forcing him to stop touching the burn. He blinked open his eyes slightly. They appeared glassy as if he were detached from reality for the moment. His mind was berating him with mocking voices for murdering the guard. Looking up at Arcturus, he sighed. He lifted himself onto his knees. “No—” His tone was icy. "I'm not fine." He appeared numb as the voices took control and whispered in his pointed ears. His three scars above his blue and brown eye were a sight to behold. Many people were unaware of this hound's history, even though the scars looked them in the face. However, the numbness did not last long. Bane shook his head, scattering the voices and screwing up his fluffy hair. A chill ran down his spine as he looked up at where Sardoth was, or rather, was seen to be. “Quietus.” He muttered under his breath. Bane struggled to his feet, his hand on his leather hilt, but was eventually dragged up by Arcturus. The hound yipped in surprise, struggling to regain control of his balance. “I can hold them off." The hellhound croaked. Just a minute ago, he was glassy-eyed and losing balance. Now a flame of worthiness burned within his eyes, Bane standing tall and proud.
Bane swung his head around to face the portal. That's suspicious. He cocked an eyebrow, and a hand appeared from the portal. Then came the voice. "What makes you think I'm going to jump into some random portal? No way in hell!" When he turned around, he saw a guard approaching him with another silver knife. "Oh, he-" As he parried the attack with his umbra sword, he cut himself off. He kicked the guard in the stomach and slashed their face with the sharpest edge of his sword. "I don't trust it!" Bane hissed, but someone pushed him through. His eyes widened, and he reached out for Arcturus, terrified of what might be on the other side. But nothing grasped onto him and he tumbled through.
(Two more now, Tired and Not Denki.)
(test run successful, Cinnamon)
Arcturus grunted as another very heavy something hit his shield.
"I don't trust it either, but it doesn't matter." he growled as he shoved Bane through the shimmering portal. He saw the hound reach for him, but another heavy thud on his shoulder made him stumble and he couldn't respond.
(Sorry guys I have been pretty busy. Hopefully I’ll get smth up soon)
(you're ok :) )
(It's okay, I completely understand. Take your time! I don't want you to feel rushed.)
Sutechi sighed not trusting the portal one bit but he moved to grab emerse and shove her towards the portal before entering himself.
Emerse stumbled into the portal letting out some curses as she stumbled into it.
(Sorry it's short)
(Length isn't important as long as content gives progress. Okay?)
(Now we just need Tired.)
(thumbs up)
Nix tried to slip through an exit, but was quickly ambushed by more guards and was chased back where they came from. They slashed their knife here and there, but other than that they were not in the fighting mood. However, one of the soldiers did try to grab at their ear, and Nix went in immediately for a bite of his hand.
When the mysterious portal materialized before them, there was only a moment’s hesitation. Both panic and the Elf’s urging propelled them forward to the voice inside the portal.
(Well done, Tired!)
Arcturus noted that Nix had scrambled through, and made a dive towards the portal. As he did, he pulled all his arrows back to himself as shards of metal, skewering guards and blocking projectiles.
He rolled through the bright portal, coming up on his feet and immediately drawing his bow, pointing it back the way he'd come. "Close it!"
There was a small pop! as the portal closed, and the girl sighs in relief.
Now that everyone was through, they could see that this girl was only a little taller than Nix, and that they were on a raised platform in the middle of an old library.
The girl was wearing simple robes and slippers that were made of cotton and leather, respectively. Apart from her, the library felt empty.
The girl smiles shyly at the group.
"Thank you." she tells them, her voice soft.
(A note for the players: this girl is 10 years old.)
(got it)
Arcturus sighed in relief, and the metal flowed back up his arms, but slowly this time, like it was tired. He slowly sank to his knees, hunching over with an audible groan as the damage from whatever heavy blows had been hitting his shield sank in.
"Thank YOU…" He muttered quietly. He was happy to be out of there. He reached slowly for more athelas from his pouch. and suddenly remembered the big man.
"Hey, what about the giant?" He glanced up, his shoulders and back protesting painfully as he lifted his head. "You gonna get him out, or are we saying farewell?"
The girl's face turns solemn as she kneels in front of Arcturus, stopping him from taking any more athelas.
"Sardoth Dragonheart is dead, or on Lady Death's doorstep. There's nothing we can do." she murmurs, a faint golden halo forming as she casts healing magic on the elf.
Arcturus nodded. Any man with an attitude like that is bound to get himself killed eventually. Still. With a name like Dragonheart, he was clearly important to somebody.
"I am sorry for what is clearly a loss to you." he said quietly, and began murmuring a short prayer to Mandos in Elvish.
He could feel the magic take effect, and he stretched as the pain receded from his muscles and bones.
The girl looks bitter. Too bitter.
"He saved my life." she whispers, getting up and walking off.
Arcturus nodded. That would do it. He settled back into a cross-legged sitting position and continued the prayer.
About an hour later, the girl comes back with a pitcher of wine and a few glasses. Pouring Arcturus and herself generous servings, she introduces herself.
"My name is Leila Maple." she says softly.
"What is your name?" she asks.
Emerse stretches out her metal limbs as she looks around the place, she notices the little girl bring in the wine and moves to walk over.
"Ya sure your old enough for a drink like that?" She spoke to the little girl as she looked down at her.
Sutechi took off the guards helmet he was wearing revealing his floofy red hair and greenish blueish eyes.
You could now see just how tired he looked, along with the stitches along his neck. He moved to take off the breast plate of the armor and set it down as well.
