Naize saw the shadows dance around the house, her body trembling as she wished the two would hurry home. the bobcat couldn't use her powers in the house, she had no connection to the forest, and now she was defenseless. If she shifted shed be too weak to fight on her own and the already pained injury from the last time was killing her.
Bane looked at Lis with a blank look. "I—um—well, I don't know, frankly. Just any meat product, I guess. Like steak or something. Or er—" He's being really awkward about his. He has no idea what to do, as for he's never been to a restaurant before. You'd think it would be simple from a normal standpoint, but when you're shut in for most of your life—it doesn't go over well.
Lis chuckles.
"Let's get you a brisket." she says, ordering that plus two bottles of the good shit and saying it's all to go. Five minutes later, the food and drinks are ready.
"Let's go." they murmur. They toss a wave over their shoulder as they leave, then a feeling hits them. She looks at Bane.
"Naize. The house." she says, running back into the diner, telling the cook to save the food for when they come back, then takes off, quick as the wind.
Bane was once again being dragged by Lis. "I had a feeling too. I was about to tell you." He paused. "Lis— I can sense death in the air. It's close. We're on a huge time constraint. We need to be there quick, very quick, or something we won't like will occur."
Naize hit the wall hard, snarling as she was thrown. Cats never faired well in dog fights. Blood spattered the floor, both teams spilling crimson.
Naize wasn't coming out of this if someone weren't there quickly. the Bobcat failed to dodge the next few attacks though they did minor damage ( as you can see, I'm still playing the ‘only human’ card for naize since she's pretty much just a fairy.)
Bane broke away from Lis' grasp. He turned into his wolf form, running quickly back to the safe house. He broke through the door, scanning the room. Damn it. He was the reason this was happening, he led them to Naize. He didn't have time to think about how everything was his fault, he needed to get to Naize. Bane ran past all the attackers, picking up the bobcat by the scruff. He took every blow that came to him, protecting the little bobcat. He used his claws and bite as his only weapons. Bane let out muffled barks before running off, reciting further into the safe house while carrying Naize.
Naize stayed limp to help him, whimpering and whining
Lis nods. "I know."
They go to town on Naize's assailants when they reach the house, a split second after Bane reaches it. Pulling out their shortsword and the dagger that had been used on Bane, she becomes a raging whirlwind of death, chopping off limbs and heads, either killing or incapacitating the enemies.
Bane reached a safe enough place. It was a few rooms away from the fighting. He gently put Naize down. He looked at the injured cat with guilt and examined all the wounds, but he couldn’t do much in his wolf form. Bane started to lick the wounds as a way to clean up the blood. Probably a bad idea on his part, but it’s the only he can do. Bane ignored his own wounds, only a few of them were deep slashes that would take a little longer to heal.
Naize would flinch away when he touched the wounds, the deepest one being under her eye. She laid where he put her, just trying to relax and get some of the pain away
Bane did all he could to help clean up and minimize blood loss, but there was too much. He didn’t have any gauze or cloth to help clot the wounds. He laid next to Naize, trying to keep her comfortable through the pain. Bane started to whimper loudly, unknowing if Lis could hear him.
(yall … I need an update.)
Naize nestled into bane, shaking from the settling cold. If she could keep warm it wouldn't be so bad.
(To update in a few sentences, Jacen: The group got attacked by demons. Bane got injured in his shoulder and Lis almost died. Naize was also injured by it. Bane also has a wolfsbane wound that he is given the medicine for. Lis cuddles him in her sleep, he teases her, then Lis drags him off on a date. At home Naize is getting attacked by shadow creatures. The two have a bad feeling and run back home. Bane rescues Naize in his wolf from, cleaning the wounds. Lis is fighting the creatures. That’s the basic outline.)
Lis finishes up in the living room, rushing back to Bane when she hears whimpering.
"What-?" she starts, then sighs, kneeling down next to Naize. She pulls a syringe from somewhere on her person, and slowly injects whatever's in it into Naize. She holds her breath, waiting for it to work.
Bane moved closer to keep the kitty warm. Hellhounds were like furnaces—they generate a lot of warmth; You wouldn’t need a blanket. A deep gash on his back was healing very slowly. It looked red and gross; It was probably from a silver weapon. Bane let out a whimper of sadness with the belief this was all his fault, watching Naize make sure her wounds healed. The scent of death slowly dissipated, meaning Naize was going to escape this alive unless she took a turn. He got up and went to find a blanket. Coming back with a soft blanket, the wolf tried to cover Naize and turned back to his humanoid form.
Naize purred in and out of it. Her eyes closed when the needle pressed into her skin. She looked at bane when he brought the blanket, purring loudly as a reassurance. She knew this wasn't his fault, she was ill-prepared and had no idea how to deal with literal demons.
Lis turns to Bane. She tilts her head, then pulls out another syringe, injecting him with it.
Bane rubbed his arm. “Ouch, was that for?” He felt at the back of his neck and frowned. “This is my fault, isn’t it. If I didn’t have this stupid chip in the back of my neck, this wouldn’t have happened.” He started to whimper, his face twisting with guilt.
"That was for the silver burn." Lis murmurs.
"Now c'mon. Let's bring Naize with us this time." she says.
“It would have healed on its own.” Bane frowned. He picked up Naize from where she lay, keeping the kitty close to him. “Alright, I picked up Naize. I'm sorry, little Naize. We shouldn't have left.” He pats the kitty on the head.
Naize meowled softly before relaxing. Her head bobbled long as they walked. She constantly looked over her shoulder, behind bane, and at least a foot ahead
Lis chuckles. "Yes, but that was quicker, no? And less painful?"
She nods, then starts limping towards the door.
Bane nodded his head. "I suppose it saved me from wasting my energy to the point where I am drained, so I cannot walk." He took in a deep breath, still feeling the stinging from the needle. He noticed Lis' unnatural gait. She couldn't walk outside without a stable step. He grabbed her arm while saying, "Lis, you're limping. How badly hurt were you? Maybe you shouldn't tread outside with an unstable walk."
Lis nods. "Good. See? I'm smart."
She shakes her head. "I'll be fine. I'm a big girl."
She holds the door open for bane. "And besides, we still have food at the diner. Let's get Naize something as well, actually."
Bane breathed a sigh. "Fine, but If you lag behind or fall—I will drag you back home." He stepped out into the open, glancing around for more demons. He didn't see anything of interest or hostility and continued on his way. Bane held the kitty, who seed content in his arms, close. "I haven't seen Naize in her human-like form in forever. Is she stuck like a kitty now?" He inquired.
Lis shrugs. "I won't."
They chuckle. "I think she prefers kitty form."
Naize wriggled out of his arms and shifted, crying out softly “ you try extreme pain every time you shift. “ She said in a soft whimper. She had scarred harshly. “ now if you don't mind, is rather be in a form that's easier on my body,” she said and shifted back, yelping and shaking her head
Lis looks alarmed.
"Then don't shift!" they yelp.
