Adin was making his way to the food hall, he bad on a long sleeved jacket with the sleeves rolled up over a shirt and some shorts on with some pants underneath the shorts, that were thinner kinda like tights, he wasn't exactly a fan of the cold weather but any weather was good weather for pulling pranks and messing with people, he chuckled slightly as he saw someone stumble over some snow and fall face first.
He moved over to them and crouched down, offering his hand to help them up. "Hey, you need a hand?"
Amelia swatted his hand away gently. "I'm fine. I'm not coming down with a fever if that's what you're thinking. I should probably just go inside for a bit to warm up." She nodded her head towards the mess hall, expecting him to follow. There was a furnace running in the middle of the mess hall, to keep it warm and to allow any campers like Amelia, who had stayed out too long, to get toasty warm. She took a see on a bench nearby it and started shedding some of her layers.
"I like the cold a little too much. I love the snow. Sometimes I get a little distracted and I stay out too long. It's an annual occurrence at this point." She huffed a small laugh then held up her now bare hands to the furnace to try to warm them. It was then she began to notice how cold she truly was and started shivering.
Wendi spotted Dove coming after her and proceeded to walk faster. She hadn't expected Dove to still be at camp given she normally left for the holidays. And she especially didn't want to talk to Dove at this moment. Dove would probably want Qendi to talk about her feelings and that was the last thing Wendi wanted to do at that very moment. As soon as she realized that what was once a brisk walk turned into a light jog. Not fast enough to be suspicious, but hopefully fast enough to get away from Dove.
He did indeed follow after her as she walked in, listening to her talk. He moved to sit next to her Infront of the furnace, putting his hands up to it as well, even though he had no layers to shed. It was wonder he hadn't frozen over with him being in just a t-shirt and sweat pants.
He chuckled slightly as she talked about liking the cold,
"I suppose it is a welcome difference to the normal summer weather. I don't know if I like winter completely though I can see it's not all bad."
He once again, felt the emptyness from missing his family. Though he just kept a smile up, even if it didn't reach his eyes completely.
"What are you going walking around here with no clothes on? You're not even wearing a jacket! It's too cold to only be wearing a shirt. And knowing you the thread count is horrible and it's a thin layer of cotton." Amelia shook her head. While she enjoyed winter, she would never go out in so few layers. She knew how to bundle up and look cute doing it. Once her hands had warmed, she scooted back slightly.
"I'm excited for the holidays. There won't be so many people here. Less crowded. Nice for once. And more food for us." She smiled. "I'm glad my dad hasn't called me home. Though he hasn't done that in a couple of years. It always feels so weird, formal. Kinda like he's treating my like a client and not his daughter. Oh well, camp has always been more of a home to me than he ever will."
He chuckled listening to her get frustrated at him, just talking in an upset manor at his choice of clothing, he hadn't even let out a shiver yet.
"Well let's just say being in the forge all the time, i tend to get over heated rather then chilling cold. I can walk around and still feel somewhat warm outside Bec of my body's irregular tempture shifts."
He spoke as he looked at heart before turning to smile at her.
"Im glad that you and your dad at least still have a somewhat good relationship, you should make sure to keep that. Maybe even try and get closer. I don't mean to be pushy though."
You might not know how much longer he has left he looked back at the hearth good job, that totally didn't down play the mood at all.
Amelia huffed. "We don't really have a relationship at all. I have more memories with my nanny than of my father. He's a busy businessman. Comes with the territory I guess. It's alright though. I've known for a very long time we would never be a close family. He's not a family man. We're just…not meant to be a family."
She shrugged. She would be lying if she died lining for a father/daughter relationship. But her father wasn't capable of it. He had his own life and she didn't belong in it. That was fine. He didn't belong in her life either.
"What about you? WHy are you still here? Do you have family to go home too?"
Ashby simply groaned on the ground when they heard the voice above them. As they got up and wiped the snow off their clothes, they looked up at the boy. A son of Hermes. "Thank you, I'm fine though" they began, but then looked down at their sopping wet clothes "Actually, do you mind taking me to the infirmary to get new clothes? These are a little…. soaked" They smiled awkwardly at the stranger. Maybe they'd finally make a friend at camp for once.
"Oh, yikes, I'm sorry to hear that." He put a hand on his neck while she talked about how bad the relationship was and how it wouldn't ever be fixable.
He'd like to have a few….words with that dad of hers.
He quickly moved to look away at the mention of his family, even though he had been thinking about them a lot recently he really didn't like talking about what happened to them.
"I don't have a family to go back to."
Was all he said, if she asked questions he would answer them sure, but he wouldn't just go on to say what happened to them without someone actually wanting to know.
He let out a soft sigh, looking down ah his hands.
He chuckled slightly, "I don't mind at all cherry hair." He grinned at them, waiting for them to start walking so they could start walking to the infirmary.
"so cherry hair, i know I have seen you around and everything but by the gods I can't seem to remember what your cabin is. Would you mind filling in the brain gaps?" He spoke as he talked, having a grin on his face the entire time.

As soon as she realized that what was once a brisk walk turned into a light jog. Not fast enough to be suspicious, but hopefully fast enough to get away from Dove.
The moment she saw Wendi quicken her pace, she stopped in her tracks. Dove knew when someone was avoiding her when she saw it. “Oh…” she breathed. Don’t take it personally, don’t take it personally… it’s probably not my fault, right? I didn’t do anything wrong, right?
But despite how hard she tried, it didn’t stop the pain from creeping into her heart. She shook herself. Best to give her friend some space.
She wandered back over to Ash, who looked at her with an inquisitive stare. She waved him off and said, “We should go eat.” Ash stood on his furry hooves, and they walked to the mess hall, Dove becoming lost in thought.
"Don't feel bad about it. It is what it is. Besides, I've found my family here. I'm happy here." Amelia bumped his shoulder, a smile returning to her lips. But it didn't stay long, hearing him talk.
"I'm sorry Wynn. Would you like to talk about it?" She asked. She wouldn't push him if he was uncomfortable and didn't want to talk about it. But if he wanted to talk, she would listen. He was her friend. She wanted to be there for him.
He sighed running a hand through his hair as she bumped his shoulder, he turned towards her an offered her a half smile, just glad that she was good with staying here.
"well it's just ..it's another year of reminders of my parents being gone, another year without them here and us not celebrating together."
He put his hands together and just fidgeted with them.
"we always celebrated together.." he muttered, looking down at his hands. He moved to look anywhere else then her face because he didn't want to see her expression. He knew he shot the mood down, and he felt bad about it. He turned to see someone else entering the mess hall, seeming down.
"do you …know that girl?"
Ashby smiled a bit Cherry hair? they thought A nickname? We haven't even met they shook their head "Thank you. and uh, Dionysus." they answered, straight to the point. "Mr.D's my divine parent. You?" They asked as they began to walk towards the infirmary, turning away from the mess hall. Still dripping wet, their short shivers became shudders, and shortly, they began to sneeze, nose almost as red as their hair. They had to wipe their nose a lot too, as snot began to drip down their face "Sorry…" they apologized to "This is probably a sort of gross spectacle to behold"

Amelia's chest tighten and she felt bad for even asking in the first place. He was grieving. She shouldn't be reminding him of what he lost. "I'm so sorry Wynn. I can't even begin to imagine. If you ever want to talk, I'm here."
She hoped her words would bring comfort but there wasn't much she felt like she could offer other than a shoulder to lean on. After a moment of thinking, she took his hands into hers and gripped them. "You have me to celebrate with. And we'll honor them, pay them tribute. They raised a wonderful boy."
Amelia turned her head to look at who was walking in. "I believe that's Dove. I don't know much about her though."
Wendi had gotten back to her cabin and let out a long sigh of relief. She knew she would be heading over to the mess hall soon, but she just needed a moment to herself. After sitting on her bed for a few moments she eventually mustered up the energy to go back out and to the mess hall. She got up and began walking back the way she came. To most, her little trip to the cabin would seem pointless, but she felt a lot better there than she did around the rest of camp. She needed all the strength she could get if she wanted to make it through another dinner. With that she left the cabin and headed over to the mess hall hoping to have delayed enough to not catch anyone she knew while also not being ostracized for showing up late.
Dove glanced around, then lead Ash to the far end of the Apollo table, taking off her coat and tying it around her waist. Ash tried to reason with her all the while.
“I’m sure she’s just busy or something, right?” he said, rubbing at his temple.
“No, I saw the look she had on her face. She didn’t want to be bothered. She…” Dove stopped herself from saying her thoughts aloud. She sighed, asking her drink to fill with sweet tea. The liquid seemed to fill her cup out of nowhere, and Dove reached over to grab some food while Ash started nibbling on a napkin.
“Dove, I think your mood is making me have a headache,” he said after a moment, rubbing his temple again.
She paused in her eating, putting a hand over her mouth. “Oh no, I’m sorry. But… that’s not making me feel any better.”
“Fair.” He gave her an apologetic look. The satyr leaned over and gave her a side hug. “Is this better?”
She nodded, hugging him back before letting go to eat.

"Thee Mr D? Wow, I almost feel bad for you." He chuckled slightly, grinning at her.
"My godly parent? Hermes, of course. Who else?" He joked, elbowing her slightly.
He walked with her to the infirmary, he took off his coat, and moved to hold it out to her.
"here, you look like you need it." He offers it out to her, and moved to put it around her shoulders, "But don't take it like some special favor ya hear? I just thought you could use it more then me, And that's saying something since I get cold easily."
He looked away as they walked, he shrugged.
"Not really, I don't care. I would rather you not be sick though, for your health."
(Ashby uses they/them btw)
They smiled at the joke and pretended that they didn't already know he was from the Hermes cabin when he mentioned it, feigning a face of surprise "Hermes' pretty cool" They flinched when he put the coat on them, but couldn't help smiling "You didn't have to. Really." As they entered the infirmary, they walked in on the Apollo kids (who were most of the doctors and nurses) and satyrs chatting. One of them was in the middle of insulting Mr.D when they walked in, and stopped immediately "No, please don't let me interrupt. I just… needed a change of clothes" they looked back at the Hermes kid who had walked them there "Thank you… uh, what's your name?"
When Wendi entered the mess hall their eye immediately went to the Apollo table to see Dove being side hugged by Ash and immediately felt guilt wash over her. She ducked her head down and went quietly to the Hecate table hoping Dove wouldn't spot her. While also hoping Dove would see her? It was weird. She felt bad about making Dovve feel bad, but she didn't want to talk to Dove right now. Which in turn would only make Dove feel worse, which would make Wendi feel worse. Wendi was just caught it a nasty cycle at the moment.
Amelia's chest tighten and she felt bad for even asking in the first place. He was grieving. She shouldn't be reminding him of what he lost. "I'm so sorry Wynn. I can't even begin to imagine. If you ever want to talk, I'm here."

He was about to tell her he was fine, and that she didn't need to worry about him when she grabbed his hands into hers and held them, he felt himself blush slightly as she did so, looking into her eyes. He smiled at her, moving to lock there fingers together.
"thank you Amelia, I'm so glad to have someone like you to spend the holidays with, it…makes me feel less alone." He smiled genuinely at her, before moving to look over at the girl again.
"she looks kinda down…I'm gonna see if I can cheer her up. I'll be back." He smiled at her before moving to get up and head over to Dove, placing his hand on the table with a grin at her.
"Hey Birdie, what's up?" He played on her name, giving her a nickname..
"Yeah I know, I'm so cool." He joked as they walked towards the infirmary and then into it. He notices the flinching when he put his coat on them and took a mental note of it, they would probably ask about it when they were closer, he wasn't that much of a jerk.
"hm? Me? Oh well, I'm Adin. Your welcome about it, it wasn't that much of a bother to do so." He shrugged, before grinning.
"What's your name Cherry hair?"
Dove didn’t notice Wendi enter the mess hall, as she was trying to distract herself by eating. Sadly, she couldn’t ignore the hand that landed beside her on the table. She flinched at the nickname. Birdie… He’s talking to her, right? She looked up at the boy, and he didn’t seem to be looking at anyone other than her. She swallowed a bite of her grilled cheese sandwich. That pained feeling came back, but this time for a different reason. Grandma used to call her that a lot… she didn’t anymore, but… why was it so painful to hear?
“That’s not my name,” she said blankly. She tried to suppress the pain now. She didn’t want the boy to get a cold or something because of her. It was fine. He didn’t know, after all. “You must know my actual name if you’re… if you’re calling me that, right? Just call me that, please. What’s your name?”
She glanced over to Ash, who she could already tell was feeling the affects of her negative emotions. He had stopped eating the napkin, and was now rubbing at his temple with his eyes squeezed shut. More not-so-positive emotions rose up when she saw him, and she wished fervently that the boy would leave, for all of their sakes.
"So then birdie is a no go? Got it. Sorry about that, just thought I would try something out see if it worked, maybe try and cheer you up. I can see how much it didn't work though."
He put a hand on his neck before holding his hand out to her,
"I'm Wynn, your Dove right? That's a really pretty name." He offered a smile as he spoke, waiting for a handshake though if she didn't shake his hand he wouldn't care that much. He just wanted to make sure to have there just Incase.
(Ok just in case there are ppl who are confused: Dove has the ability to cause sickness, and this power is very emotionally-based, which is why it tends to occur whenever she’s in a bad mood. She can’t control it very well either, and in situations like these it will almost always affect those who are physically nearest to her. However the only ppl who are immune to it are the other Apollo kids, and sometimes Hecate kids)
"I'm uh…." they began "Ashby" They reached up into one of the cupboards of the infirmary and pulled out an unused camouflage sweater and a pair of grey joggers. They didn't match in the slightest. They looked back at Adin tentatively. "Hey, uh…" they started "I'm not sure how this works" they continued under their breath before gathering the courage to finally ask "Do you, um, wanna be friends? I just… you're nice?"
Amelia watched as Wynn got up and left. She sighed to herself. She put her hands back up near the furnace, continuing to warm them up. The bell signaling dinner rang not too long after. She was on of the first in line, grabbed a tray, and went down the line, grabbing her food. She gave her offerings to her mother and sat down at the Aphrodite table, joining her siblings.
