The friends all fell silent, looking at Elliot.
"I… y-yeah, that's what happened…"
The friends all fell silent, looking at Elliot.
"I… y-yeah, that's what happened…"
Rafael leaned back into the couch. He did feel a bit bad for Elliot but there wasn’t really anything he could do about it.
There was… an uproar. For a moment, it would seem Arien's friends would tear Elliot to pieces in that very moment. Arien flinched back at Elliot's words. Even if he had been told this, it still hurt to hear from Elliot himself.
Rafael wanted to intervene but didn’t know how, so he stayed back, pulling Arien closer to him.
Arien buried his head in Rafael's shoulder. Eventually the shouting died down, with no one hurt yet.
(Nuuuu Arien… How dare you hurt him Elliot. D: )
Rafael ran a soothing hand through Arien’s hair as the shouting continued. As soon as it was finished, Rafael spoke. “He was only doing what he thought was right for Arien. And as soon as he realized it wasn’t right, he lifted the spell.” He offered.
Arien kept his face hidden. He was glad he had Rafael here with him during this, that's for sure.
"He should have realized it wasn't right the moment he did it," Bruno said.
"Or when he realized what Arien was doing- we told him right away."
Elliot stayed silent.
Rafael merely shrugged, leaning back in his seat again. That was what he had to contribute for the moment apparently.
Arien slowly opened his eyes.
"Why did you think it was good for me, Elliot?" His voice was low, dangerous. Elliot had taken Rafael away from him. Elliot flinched back some.
"I…"
Rafael knew better than to speak up and try to calm Arien down right now. But he was still paying attention in case Arien actually tried to attack Elliot.
Arien was on the verge of doing so.
"Well?!"
"Because! How could a human like him be any good for you?" Elliot pat the word out like a vile slur. Arien let out a small roar, trying to jump up and rip Elliot's throat out.
At hearing Arien about to jump Elliot, he quickly wrapped his arms around Arien, trying to pull him back. Even though he knew Arien was stronger than him, this would at least slow him down for a second.
Arien let Rafael stop him, mostly because even in his rage he didn't want to risk hurting the man. He was growling, though, as he was pulled back to the couch. Elliot yelped, backing away quickly.
“Calm down.” He said quietly, loosening his hold on Arien but not by much.
Arien turned his head away from Elliot.
"Don't talk about my lover like that. Ever again." He buried his head in Rafael's chest, taking deep breaths to try to do what Rafael had advised.
Rafael adjusted his grip, resting a hand on the back of Arien’s head. He frowned softly. He didn’t like seeing his boyfriend this upset.
Arien shook just a bit, now clinging tightly to Rafael. He hated, he loathed Elliot for what he had done.
Rafael’s grip tightened on Arien when he started shaking. He hated that Arien had to fight one of his oldest friends because of him.
Arien nuzzled closer. He didn't want this, he didn't want any of this. He just wanted everyone to get along. Arien's friends looked at each other a moment. They grabbed Elliot, leaving.
"We'll leave you two be," Daine said as they headed out the door.
Rafael nodded, mouthing a ‘thank you’ in Daine’s direction. Even as the door closed, he kept his arms wrapped around Arien.
Arien was crying before he even heard the door close. He pushed into Rafael, letting out a choked sob. It was too much- he went from thinking his love hated him to knowing his closest friend was the reason this had all happened.
“I’ve got you..” he reassured quietly, holding Arien tightly. His free hand began to rub soothing circles into Arien’s back, just letting him cry.
"I– I–" Arien just kept crying, curling up at Rafael's side. He sniffled some, clinging to the human's shirt.
“Take as long as you need.” He said softly. He knew this wouldn’t stop hurting Arien for a long time.
Arien fell quiet with a slight nod. It took him a while to calm down, but when he did he only huddled closer. He fell silent, sniffling occasionally.
Rafael stayed there with him the whole time, humming softly and rubbing Arien’s back to try and help calm him down.
Arien slowly opened his eyes, nuzzling against Rafael some.
"Thank you…."
“Of course. Anything for you, Arien.” He gently kissed the top of Arien’s head.
Arien smiled softly, turning his head to kiss Rafael's cheek in turn.
"I love you…"
