Melissa only shrugged, not seeming worried about it. "Dunno. Not too long, though. The doctor wanted to talk to him, and I asked my dad to ask about you coming home. It doesn't surprise me they're still talking."
Melissa only shrugged, not seeming worried about it. "Dunno. Not too long, though. The doctor wanted to talk to him, and I asked my dad to ask about you coming home. It doesn't surprise me they're still talking."
Lucas nodded a bit. "I guess that makes sense… this is kinda complicated since he's not my legal guardian, though. I'm not sure how it all works."
(I've been trying to look it up myself, but I thought I might just ask you. About how long would Lucas need to stay in a mental hospital?)
"Mhmm. I'm sure it's fine, though. I bet they'd rather deal with this instead of your father." Melissa hummed a bit, looking up to him. She gave him a soft smile, keeping quiet for a couple minutes.
(I have no clue. We could always do a vague time skip lol. Maybe a month??)
"True… my dad wouldn't have even let me come…" Lucas sighed and stared at the ceiling while he waited for Mr. Brennahan to return.
(Maybe… I'll keep looking into it, just so I can have a basic idea :P)
It was about twenty minutes later when Mr. Brennahan came back, not looking too happy. But if asked about, would probably brush it off for the time being. "Mm, hey dad." Melissa greeted softly, waving a bit as he came in. Mr. Brennahan smiled in return, waving.
(Alright aha)
"Are you okay, sir? Did you have a rough day at work…?" Lucas asked softly, fidgeting a bit Wirth the bandages on his arms.
"Huh? Oh, no I'm fine." He gave a smile, noting Melissa's bag and scooping it up. "I talked to them about getting you to come home, and they said it was fine. Under certain conditions, of course."
"Oh… alright. What are the conditions…?" Lucas asked warily, sitting up a bit more. "Am I allowed to go to school?"
"No, you have to stay home. I have to keep an eye on you, and make sure to give you medicine. If you need me, you're gonna have to call me. You're not suppose to be walking around a bunch." Mr. Brennahan informed, slinging the backpack over his shoulder. "Nothing unreasonable."
"Okay… um… I guess that's reasonable. Should we get going now, then, or…?" He asked softly, still fidgeting a bit. "Or do I have to wait a little longer?"
"They were gonna send a wheel-chair up, just to make things easier on us. So as soon as that gets here, we can head out." Mr. Brennahan informed, starting to pick up the extra blankets as well.
Lucas nodded a bit and fully sat up, figuring he should wait for a doctor to take out the IV for him. "Hopefully we can get out soon, at least…"
(Do you think Lucas would have to have another episode before he's forced into a mental hospital?)
(Mm… probably.)
Melissa pushed up off of the bed, offering to take her things. "I'm sure it won't be long." Mr. Brennahan replied. Not long after, a doctor came up with a wheel chair. He got Lucas situated, taking the IV from him.
Lucas got himself settled in the wheelchair with a shaky sigh, running his fingers along his bandages. The doctor gave Mr. Brennahan a paper that listed medications that Lucas needed to take and when he needed to take them.
With everything settled, Melissa pushed Lucas out of the room, leaning down to kiss the top of his head. "You alright?" She asked softly, continuing to lead him on.
"Y-Yeah… just nervous…" Lucas replied just as softly. "I don't wanna break any of the rules on accident…"
"As long as you don't get up, I'm sure you'll be fine. It's probably also to keep you from getting hurt again." Melissa told him, glancing back at her father.
Lucas nodded a bit and looked down at the floor, still fidgeting. He pulled Cody into his lap and held him close.
Melissa watched him silently, leading him out to her father's car. When they got there, she dropped her backpack on the ground before helping him into the front seat. "You wanna hold Cody, still?"
Lucas nodded, holding Cody close to his chest and closing his eyes. He was pretty drained and tired by now.
Melissa smiled weakly, shutting his door. A doctor and her father had been trailing behind, so she passed off the wheel-chair before climbing in the back-seat. After a couple minutes of both the adults talking, Mr. Brennahan got in the front seat.
Lucas buried his face in Cody's fur, sighing softly. He really just hoped that they could get back home soon so he could sleep.
The car was eerily silent the whole way home, no one saying a word. After a little bit, they pulled up to the house, and Melissa was the first to get out.
Lucas allowed Melissa to help him into the wheelchair when they returned back home, sighing softly when he sat down, but otherwise staying silent.
Melissa kept quiet when no one started talking, carrying her bag and pushing Lucas up to the house. After a little bit of struggle, they got Lucas inside and set up on the couch. "Do you need anything?"
"No, I'm okay… thank you, Mel." Lucas got himself settled on the couch and lay Cody down on his chest. "It's… it's good to be back."
Melissa gave him a soft smile, leaning over to kiss his forehead. "I'm gonna head upstairs to take a shower. I've got an interview for a job tomorrow, so I'll probably head off to bed early."
"Okay, Mel… see you in the morning…" Lucas curled up on the couch with a shaky sigh, Cody cuddling right up against him to make sure he'd be okay.
After Melissa had gone, Mr. Brennahan hesitated before clearing his throat. "Um… hey, Lucas? Can I talk to you, bud?" He asked softly, coming around to his side of the couch.
Lucas looked up at Mr. Brennahan, clearly nervous at the man's tone. "U-Um… sure… what do you want to talk about, sir?" He asked meekly.
