Melissa gave him a soft look, curling up closer. "I- um… well, that's good. Sorry for the randomness… I was just wondering…"
Melissa gave him a soft look, curling up closer. "I- um… well, that's good. Sorry for the randomness… I was just wondering…"
"Don't worry about it, Mel. I get it." Lucas kissed Melissa gently and held her close to himself.
Melissa nodded a little, reaching to hold onto his hand with a weak sigh. "I love you…"
"I love you too, Melissa…" Lucas held a bit more tightly to Melissa's hand.
Melissa smiled weakly, kissing him. "Mm, what now? Anything exciting happen while I was gone?"
"Not really, no. Exciting things don't generally happen around here." Lucas smiled weakly.
"Mm, that's fair…" Melissa laughed softly, nosing against his shoulder. "Luckily, things have been pretty slow at the house. Not much is happening."
Lucas nodded a bit. "It's probably good that nothing exciting has happened here… exciting stuff here is usually bad."
"Mhmm… boring means nothing bad can happen." Melissa mumbled, yawning a little. "It also keeps you out of trouble…"
Lucas nodded again and sighed. "Yeah… it does get very dull here, though."
Melissa looked up at him, frowning some. "I bet it does… but hey, you're getting out sometime soon. You won't be so lonely anymore."
"True… at least I've got Cody to keep me company while I'm in here." Lucas scratched behind Cody's ears with a weak smile.
"Mhmm… he's such a good boy." Melissa hummed softly, watching as Lucas pet Cody. She mindlessly started to play with her sleeves, smiling weakly.
"Mhmm…" Lucas picked up Cody and held the dog like a baby, smiling a little more brightly. "It's getting harder to do this to him."
"Mmm, you'll have to work out so you can keep holding him." Melissa teased, poking his arm a little. "Of course, when your one arm is healed."
"Yeah." Lucas laughed softly. "Once I start up baseball again, I should be alright, yeah?"
Melissa smiled, nodding just a little. "Mhmm… oh- speaking of baseball, your team wanted to give you a signed ball, but I didn't put it in the bag. I didn't think that was the best idea, just in case."
Lucas nodded a bit as well and kissed Melissa. "Well, that's very nice of them, Mel. You can tell them I appreciate it."
Melissa hummed softly, leaning back against him. "I'll do that… when school starts back up, of course."
"Yeah… hopefully I'll be able to tell them myself by that point, actually."
Melissa nodded a little. "Here's hoping…" She mumbled with a light sigh. "I really want you to come home before then."
"Me too… I really think that it'll be soon, love." Lucas sighed as well.
"Here's hoping…" Melissa curled up even closer to him. "It's all been so weird without you…"
"I know, Mel… trust me, it's been real weird for me too." Lucas laced his fingers with Melissa's.
“I bet it’s been even worse here…” Melissa mumbled, nuzzling against his cheek. “I’m so sorry this is all happening…”
"It's not your fault, Mel… it's my own." Lucas sighed and rested his head on Melissa's shoulder.
“I know it’s not my fault, but I’m still sorry.” Melissa smiled softly, kissing his head gently. “I guess I can’t help do much about this, can I?”
Lucas shrugged and smiled weakly. "Probably nothing other than wait patiently for me to get released."
Melissa nodded, kissing him once again. “Well, if you think of anything I can do, let me know.”
"I will, Mel. Don't worry." Lucas gently returned the kiss with a soft sigh. "I promise I'll tell you."
