“It really doesn’t feel like it. Especially when you have certain people harassing you, and telling you no one does.” Melissa mumbled, sighing softly as she curled up closer. “I really only care that you, and maybe Laura care.”
Lucas sighed softly. "Laura does care, Mel. And other people care too, they just aren't as open about it. I love you, okay? I love you a whole lot."
“I know…” Melissa mumbled, starting to trace random shapes into the fabric of his shirt. “I love you too. If you didn’t already know.”
Lucas nodded a bit and rested his head on top of Melissa's with a soft sigh. "I just want to make sure you never forget it."
“Unless I lose my memories, I doubt I’ll forget it.” Melissa replied in a soft tone, kissing his shoulder softly. “You tell me at least three times a day.”
"Only three? I've been slipping, haven't I?" Lucas laughed softly and pulled Melissa closer to himself.
Melissa had a little smile pull up, relaxing into his arms. “I’m rounding. Most days it’s been way more.”
"Well, clearly I've gotta start trying harder, because I love you a whole lot more than an average of three times a day."
“Lu, you don’t have to “try harder” to love me. I know you do.” Melissa insisted, kissing him. “Besides, I’m really just guess-tamating here.”
Lucas returned the kiss with a soft smile. "I just mean that I've gotta up my game, clearly. I love you~"
Melissa grinned, kissing him a few times more. “Mm, I love you too~” She trilled, keeping her arms wrapped around him.
Lucas rested his head on Melissa's shoulder and held her close to himself. "Gotta make sure you never forget~"
Melissa's smile softened, and she dropped her head to rest against his. "I'm doing my best to remember." She whispered, scooting closer.
Lucas nodded a bit, holding her close and gently running his fingers through her hair. "I appreciate it, darling."
"Mm… you know I love you, right? And that hasn't, and won't change?" Melissa asked softly, leaning into him as he started playing with her hair.
Lucas nodded again, relaxing into her gentle touch. "I know, Melissa… I know. I love you so much, love…"
"Mm… good…" Melissa whispered, curling up a bit with a soft sigh. "I love you too. I couldn't ever ask for someone better than you."
Lucas flushed lightly and smiled a bit. "I'm glad you think so, darling. I don't think I could find anyone I love more than you."
Melissa gave him a little smile, nuzzling into his shoulder. "I'd rather not challenge that. I like knowing I'm the only one for you."
Lucas kissed Melissa's cheek softly. "Mhmm~… you mean a whole lot to me, Mel. I don't know what I'd do without you."
"Mm, the feeling is mutual… things would definitely be very different if you weren't around." Melissa replied, falling pretty quiet after that.
"Mm… you alright, darling?" Lucas asked gently. "Did I upset you somehow? What can I do to fix it?"
"I'm alright… just thinking." Melissa shrugged, giving him a little smile. "You didn't do anything to upset me."
Lucas nodded a bit. "Alright… if you say so, Mel. Are you sure there's nothing I can do to help?" He asked.
"Mm.. unless you feel like 'discussing' my thoughts with me, no." Melissa hummed, sitting up enough to kiss him softly.
"If you'd like to, I'm happy to help, Mel." Lucas smiled gently. "I can try my best to help you with anything you need."
"I mean… I don't exactly need help. It's just a thought that's been running through my head." Melissa shrugged a bit, nuzzling up closer. "It's really dumb, but say we had a future together. What does it look like for you?"
"Hmm…" Lucas considered for a few seconds before his face flushed a bit. "W-Well… forgive me if this is an overstep, but… I'd say that we'd get married, maybe have some kids… build ourselves a nice house in the forest. Maybe near the clearing even, if that's legal. It's… um… not super out of the ordinary, or maybe not even exciting, but… it sounds really nice to me. Just… a normal life. A nice, comfortable life together."
Melissa's smile stayed as she listened to him talk. She could just picture the scene in her head, and lifted her head to look at him. "I'd like that… maybe there's a chance our kids wouldn't half to deal with seventy-five percent of what we've had to…" She added on the end, sighing softly.
Lucas smiled softly and rested his head on Melissa's shoulder. "Mm… what do you think our kids would look like?" He asked gently. "I've just got a bunch of recessive genes, so I think they'd look more like you…"
