Lucas smiled gently as he looked up at Melissa. "I don't even remember the last time I was legitimately angry with anything, to be honest."
Lucas smiled gently as he looked up at Melissa. "I don't even remember the last time I was legitimately angry with anything, to be honest."
"Well, I'm still not going to purposely try." Melissa hummed, playing with his hand a bit. "But I shouldn't really have to worry, if it's been awhile."
"Probably not, Mel. I don't expect to be angry with you any time soon." Lucas linked his fingers with Melissa's.
"Mmm… alright. Love you." Melissa hummed, starting to pull away at the sound of the oven. "You want something to drink?"
"Um… sure. Anything is fine." Lucas fidgeted with his hands a bit when Melissa pulled away.
“Alright, then I might just grab you some water.” Melissa hummed, pulling the tray out of the oven. Leaving it sitting on the counter, she went over to grab him a glass of water.
"Alright, thank you, Mel…" Lucas glanced around the kitchen, humming idly to himself. He sighed softly.
Melissa smiled softly, plating his food before bringing it over to him. “Of course, darling.” She hummed a little, setting his food in front of him. “Happy to help.” She hummed, leaning over to peck his cheek.
"Thanks." Lucas returned the kiss and took a sip of water. "Are you going to eat any?" He asked as he bit into a slice of pizza.
“Mhmm, but I thought I’d get you settled first.” Melissa hummed softly, rubbing his shoulders a bit. “You’re of more concern to me right now.”
Lucas sighed softly. "But you have to take care of yourself too, Mel. I don't want you to always have to worry about me and not have time for yourself."
Melissa smiled a little, kissing the top of his head. “I’ll be fine. I promise you I’ll take care of myself in just a minute.”
"Alright, alright…" Lucas took another bite of his pizza and stared down at the table, zoning out.
Melissa smiled softly, sitting down next to him. “Love you, Lu.” She hummed, reaching over to play with his hair.
"Love you too, Mel." Lucas leaned his head into Melissa's hand and relaxed, sighing softly. "Sorry for being such a mess all the time."
“It’s alright, love. You don’t need to apologize.” Melissa hummed, leaning over to gently nose his cheek.
Lucas smiled weakly as he looked up at Melissa. "Thanks… I mean, I still feel like I do, but I'm glad you feel that way."
Melissa gave him a smile in return, pulling back from petting him. "I just want to make sure you know it. I don't want you to ever feel like you're bugging me."
Lucas nodded a bit. "Right… are you sure I'm not, though?" He asked. "Bugging you, that is."
Melissa laughed softly, leaning over to peck his cheek before getting up. "I'm positive. You're perfectly fine, so don't worry." She hummed as she went to get her own food.
"Alright…" Lucas kept quietly eating his pizza. "If you say so, Mel."
After filling a glass with water, she set her plate and glass down next to him. "I do say so. I promise you aren't bugging me."
Lucas nodded a bit, continuing to eat. "Alright, alright… let me know if I ever am, though."
"I'll do that, love." Melissa hummed softly, before sipping from her water. "But I doubt you will. I might be a little stressed, but I'll manage."
Lucas sighed softly. "You gotta prioritize yourself sometimes, Mel. You can't put all your efforts into me."
"Sure I can. It's no big deal, honestly." Melissa shrugged as she started eating. "I mean, it's not like it's hard trying to make sure you're alright. You're a teenager, not a baby."
"True. I am mostly self sufficient at this point." Lucas smiled softly over at Melissa. "Although I do tend to still cry through the night."
Melissa nodded a little, but stopped what she was doing at his last statement. "Wait- what?" She asked softly, turning to look at him.
"W-Well, not every night. Just… you know, the whole nightmare thing tends to contribute to that. It's really not that big a deal."
"O-oh…" Melissa whispered, still a little rattled from her confusion. "I- sorry…"
