"Oh probably. Or just train him to stay." Melissa hummed, bringing her box over to him. "I just see this being a pain to clean up."
"Oh probably. Or just train him to stay." Melissa hummed, bringing her box over to him. "I just see this being a pain to clean up."
"Yeah, training might work… do you think any of our friends have a pen we could borrow until he's trained?" He asked.
"Mm, not sure." Melissa mumbled, biting on the tip of her thumb. "Actually… do you know Darcy Penn?"
"Um… I think I've heard of her, but I'm not sure we've formally met. Why?" He asked curiously.
"I know she has a little brother, and it wouldn't surprise me if she still had the… well, pen." Melissa informed, running her fingers through her hair and pulling it up. "She's on the cheerleading team, and she's super nice. It wouldn't surprise me if you recognized her."
Lucas nodded a bit. "Alright… we can ask her, I guess. I think borrowing from someone would be easier than buying, to be honest, especially with our tight budget."
"Mhmm. I agree." Melissa nodded in return, sitting on the arm of the couch. "I also think she's dating one of the guys on your team. One of them looks like the guy she's always hanging around. That might be beneficial on our end."
"Ah, yeah… the cheerleaders generally end up dating jocks, so that doesn't surprise me. I don't really consider myself a jock, but I guess I technically am?"
"Then I must be your own personal cheerleader." Melissa grinned, leaning back and glancing over to him. "Though I don't think I should wear the uniform. I'll probably be freezing the whole time."
Lucas flushed a bit and nodded. "Yeah… r-right…" He looked over at Cody on the couch. "I don't really like having the cheerleaders there during games, to be honest. They can be very distracting."
"Wait- they go to baseball games too?" Melissa hummed in surprise, pushing off the couch to come up to him. "I thought it was only football and basketball. Clearly that shows how much attention I was paying."
(Me, who doesn't go to any sports games-)
Lucas shrugged. "Sometimes. Not always, though." He yawned a bit and adjusted the boxes a bit.
(Lol, me, who's been homeschooled and hasn't stepped foot in a public school)
"Huh, alright then." Melissa laughed lightly, giving him a soft smile. Wrapping her arms around his waist, she smiled up at him. "You look sleepy."
(Lmao)
"A little bit, yeah… mmm…" Lucas rested his head on Melissa's shoulder and closed his eyes, sighing softly.
"You wanna get ready for bed, then?" Melissa smiled lightly, leaning in to him a bit. "I know it's a little early, but we've got school tomorrow."
"Probably, yeah… I don't think that Cody could get over this." He looked around at their makeshift pen.
Melissa nodded a little, starting to pull back. "It's practically waist high, on me. I think we'll be alright."
Lucas nodded as well. "I'll… uh… I'll go get ready for bed now then, I guess." He grabbed his bag and stepped over the boxes.
"I'll be here, with Cody." Melissa hummed lightly, sitting down on the couch next to the puppy. Smiling lightly, she reached over and started petting his fur softly.
Cody yawned and stretched, seeming pleased with the attention. Lucas returned after about five minutes in fresh clothes to sleep in.
"Hey, Lu." Melissa smiled, tilting her head back with a smile. "You ready to for me to move, so you can sleep?"
"You can hang out for a bit if you want…" Lucas yawned a bit and sat down beside Melissa. "I don't mind."
Melissa smiled lightly, reaching over and scooping up Cody. "If you're really okay with it, I'd like that."
Lucas nodded, resting his head against Melissa's shoulder. "You can stay as long as you like, Mel… I just can't guarantee I'll stay awake the whole time."
"Mhmm… I still plan to get up soon. I know you're tired, and want to sleep." Melissa mumbled a little, holding Cody to her chest. "I don't want to keep you up."
"Mmkay." Lucas pet Cody idly, smiling gently as he did so. "I'm not excited to go back to school again… I like staying home with the puppy."
Melissa gave him a soft smile, leaning in to his shoulder. "You've gotta go to school, though. If I have to, you have to."
"I know…" Lucas sighed softly. "I don't like school as much now that it's not my only safe space. Baseball is still fun, though."
"Yeah… but hey, as soon as it's over we can come home. We can get Cody, and go for a walk to the park." Melissa told him lightly, lifting her head to kiss him.
"Mhmm…" Lucas returned the kiss softly and lay his head back on Melissa's shoulder. "I'll get over myself. I'm just being dramatic."
