Rowan nodded with a big smile. She grabbed the dice and held them in her hand. He probably assumed she wouldn't cheat, just like she was joking around that he would cheat, "Roll to see who goes first?"
Rowan nodded with a big smile. She grabbed the dice and held them in her hand. He probably assumed she wouldn't cheat, just like she was joking around that he would cheat, "Roll to see who goes first?"
"Sure, you roll first." Soren relaxed onto the couch, closing his book and setting it on the floor so there was more room for them to focus on the game. Then all they had to do was roll and see who went first.
Rowan rolled the die and her grin grew as it came up a 10. She moved the dice over to him knowing it was unlikely he would be going first. Which just meant more property opportunities for her, "Beat that!"
He grabbed the dice with a grin, laughing as he shook them in his hand and finally rolled a disappointing 2. "Dang it," Soren said, laughing as he pushed the dice back to her, "Well, I guess my hope for a good roll was lost."
"Apparently," Rowan took the dice and rolled again to move this time. She ended up rolling a 5 this time. She smiled up at him, "Well, looks like my luck is gone. But at least I get a railroad."
"If you're going to buy it that is," He replied, chuckling, "I would be surprised if you didn't though." Soren gently grabbed the dice from her, shaking them in his hand as she played the rest of her turn. When he was sure she was done he rolled, this time landing a solid 11 that made him grin.
Rowan took the new property and let a little frown at seeing how high a number he got. He had a pink already, but it shouldn't be that bad for her. As long as he didn't get the other two, "Of course I bought it! I would be dumb not to."
Soren pushed the dice back to her along with the money for the property, tapping the space happily, "I'll buy it." It was unusual to get such a high roll on the first move, but he wasn't going to complain or say anything. He was playing to win anyway.
Rowan nodded handing him the property and taking the money. She grabbed the dice and rolled again getting a nice 9. Her lips stayed in a smile as she moved there taking another pink property, "Looks like that won't be a monopoly for either of us."
"Hey you never know, maybe I'll be able to trade with you to get the property from you," He replied, taking the dice but once again not rolling them until she had taken the property. This time his luck wasn't as high, landing a solid 5, enough to push his piece to the first orange property. "Once again, magic girl, I'll take it." He smiled, pushing the money to her for the property.
Rowan nodded with a smile and gave him the orange property. A little smile appeared on her face with the new nickname coming from him. She took his money and put it into the bank before grabbing the dice. She paused a moment and signed to him, "Magic girl" and then rolled a 3. Not great, it's a community chest, "Rats."
He smiled and nodded, shrugging, "Do you like the nickname? I can try to come up with a new one otherwise." Community chests were never spaces he liked, mostly because almost all of them had to do with losing money that could help win.
"I like it! Though it might be a bit close to yours. Either way, we can be magic girl and boy!" Rowan signed over to him before she took a card. She had a little smile as she showed him the card since it was about houses and hotels and she had none yet, obviously. She put the card at the bottom of the deck and offered him the dice.
"You got lucky with that card," He said with a laugh, nodding happily, "Matching nicknames it is." Soren took the dice gently, shaking them and landing on a solid 6, his face splitting into a happy grin when he saw the two threes, "Doubles, yes!" He pushed his piece further, frowning lightly when he saw the chance space he had landed on.
Rowan frowned at the doubles. She shook her head a little and felt the smile pull back up onto her lips. She watched as he went to a chance space and figured this was either okay or bad. It couldn't be both though, "Lucky."
Soren picked up the card, reading it and sighing with a smile before showing it to her, "I guess I'm chairman of the board, and you just gained 50$." He set the card back down at the bottom of the pile before handing her the money, then scooped them up and shook another roll. This time he only got a 2, landing on the last red space with a soft grin.
Rowan took the money with a smile and watched as Soren rolled doubles, again. She looked over at him as she reached for the last red card balancing it on her leg before signing to hi, "Are you going to buy it? Also roll double one more time and you are going to jail!"
"Yeah, I'll buy it," He replied, ignoring her comment about the fate of one more roll of doubles with a smile. Soren held out the money for the property for her, shaking the dice with his other hand and watching them carefully as he waited to see if he was going to be sent to jail or not. The dice spun on their edges on the board, slowly coming to a stop at a total number count of 3, leaving him to let out a sigh of happy relief.
Rowan handed him the property and put the money into the bank. She frowned a little and snapped her fingers when she saw he rolled a three. No jailtime for him, "You got lucky I guess."
He shot her a playful wink and a smile as he pushed the dice towards her, "I suppose I did. I'm not going to buy the yellow property, just so you know." More or less it was because he wanted to keep some money in his possession, but also because he didn't really think the yellow spaces were places that got landed on very often.
Rowan gave him a thumbs up and smiled at him. She reached for the dice to roll to move for her turn. It ended up being double threes and she smiled a little at that. She supposed the dice were just on a double kicks. Her peice ended up on the second to last red and she began to buy it.
"I guess the dice want you to roll again too," He said lightly, leaning against the couch and watching her as she bought the property she had landed on. As much as he didn't like not being able to make a full set of properties, he knew she had gotten a good roll so she didn't have to pay him right away.
Rowan smiled and nodded a little. She grabbed the dice and rolled them again. The roll ended up not being doubles, but she landed on the same space as Soren and gave him a little grin before going to buy the property. SHe signed before making the transaction, "I guess you should have bought the property."
He laughed and shrugged, "I guess I should've..at least I'm safe this time around though." Soren knew there were still a lot of properties left to buy, and not getting one wouldn't make or break the game. He grabbed the dice again and shook them, pumping his fist into the air happily when he saw that it was a four, even as it wasn't doubles. He happily pushed his piece to the first green space, happy not to land in jail, "I'll buy this one this time."
Rowan nodded as she smiled happily before grabbing the green property. She reached for the dice seeing that he hadn't rolled doubles so it was her turn, "Great idea! Then I'll roll a four and land on it too!"
Soren's smile grew and he couldn't help but laugh, "This time you'll have to pay me, no freebies." He gave her the money in exchange for the property and slid the dice to her, placing his new card next to the other ones in front of him.
Rowan took the dice and silently prayed she wouldn’t roll a four. She did a little fist pump when she rolled a five instead. She moved her little cat to the spot and went to buy the property.
"Nice," He said, waiting until she had paid for the property and it was in her hand before grabbing the dice and shaking them again. It was impossible for him to land on the space she was on, so now he just had to worry about trying not to land on the luxury tax space.
Rowan watched him as she looked through her properties. She had a light smile on seeing that she had a fair amount, and some railroads to boot. She looked back to him happily, "Hope you don't land on luxury tax."
"I won't," He said confidently, then promptly rolled the number needed to land on the luxury tax space. Immediately he frowned, scowling at the dice before laughing softly, "Well, I guess that was karma." Slowly he grabbed the money from his pile and smiled at Rowan, "Are we playing where we put it in the middle, or in the bank?"
