It took Soren a little over a few hours to narrow his choices to a few solid ones. He hadn't texted Rowan yet, but after getting his roommate's approval on the ideas, he did it as quickly as he could. More than likely he knew he wouldn't get a response until morning but he didn't care. "HI Rowan! Magic boy here, I finally narrowed down my ideas to a few good ones, here they are: One, we do something stereotypical, go to dinner again and then out to whatever movie you want to see. Two, I know there's an ice skating rink on the edge of town and I figured we could maybe go ice skating. And lastly, if you were up for it, though I think it would work better closer to Christmas, we could go skiing or snowboarding at one of the ski resorts. Theres one about two hours away. What do you think?"
Rowan woke up the next morning and found a message from Soren on her phone. She smiled a little and rubbed at her eyes before grabbing her spare pair of glasses that she wore when she didn't have her contacts in. Her smile grew as she read the message and quickly thought up a response before typing it up, "I think ice skating or snowboarding would be fun! Though I'm leaning more towards snowboarding because I don't think the ice is thick enough for skating. Unless it's the indoor rink."
Soren had been up for no more than five minutes when he got Rowan's message, his phone buzzing happily on his bed side table. He picked it up as quickly as he could, reading her message twice before replying. "Either option sounds fun to me, so it's up to you," He texted her back, a small and happy smile on his face at the fact that he was going to be able to see her again.
Rowan read his message back with a little smile. She bit her lip for a moment in deep thought before she eventually responded back to Soren's message, "Ooor we could do both?" If snowboarding would be more towards Christmas there was plenty of time to meet up and skate beforehand.
"Sure!" He texted back quickly, smiling to himself, "When do you want to go ide skating?" Soren got out of bed as he texted, humming quietly as he grabbed his clothes for the day and headed to the bathroom. He didn't take long to get ready for the day, showing and dressing before checking the time and hurrying to check to make sure he had to work.
"Maybe next weekend?" Rowan suggested back before she went to take her shower. She had to head into work this morning and had to pick up coffee before she got there. Her entire morning routine took a few minutes and she was pulling her wet hair back into a ponytail before clipping in her bow. She grabbed her phone and checked it before heading out the door.
"Sure, should I pick you up again and we can drive together?" He asked in another quick text as he finished getting ready and dashed out the apartment. Within minutes he was in his car, and soon enough at work, a tiny, tiny smile on his face as he clocked in and got to work. All he had to do now was pass the time until Rowan's answer arrived.
Rowan felt her phone buzz, but she had an armful of coffee so she couldn't respond to Soren. She got to the bookstore fairly quickly and dolled out the coffee to all her coworkers with a smile. She got on her uniform-esque apron and then pulled out her phone. A smile grew as she saw his response and typed up her own, "That works for me! I can't wait!"
Soren paused his work when he finally heard the buzz of a text from his phone, taking a minute to read and reply to her, "Perfect! We can figure out time and things after work if you want?" He would get yelled at for being on his phone unless it was lunch break, and so he tried his best to stay focused on his job and not on the excitement he was feeling from her texts.
'I'm good with that! I can't wait :)" Rowan responded quickly before returning to her job stacking the shelves. Hopefully, there wouldn't be any mean people coming in today to sour her good mood. She was stupidly happy and excited over just talking about a date with Soren.

The day went by fairly fast, but by lunch he was already itching to text Rowan again. He didn't though, just put his phone away and scarfed down his meal before getting back to work. Soren had told her he was going to text her after work, and that's what he planned to do, working on the cars was the best way to kiip his mind occupied.

Rowan did her work diligently even if her mind was elsewhere mainly with Soren and their future date. She would have been humming if she could hum that is. She had to just focus on her work and when it came lunchtime she could go home.

Timeskip, the following weekend
Soren was estatic to say the least. He had spent most of the week working, and when he wasn't he was messaging Rowan, getting things ready for this weekend and also learning more about her. He made a quick breakfast as he relaxed on the couch, eating as much as he could while he waited for the last hour to go by before he would go to pick her up. Seeing as the ice skating rink was about a half an hour away, he wanted to make sure they had plenty of time to get there, get skates, maybe eat something and then finally go skate.
Rowan was practically bouncing up and down as she continued to get ready. She had had a quick breakfast and honestly couldn't wait for Soren to come s they could have their date. She seemingly couldn't get out all of the energy wound up inside of her, so she checked her appearance again. Her hair was down because it would be easier to put a hat on, and most of her clothes were thicker so she had to wear fewer layers overall. She was ready, all she needed was Soren.
"Hi Rowan! Heading over right now to get you if you're ready?" Soren texted quickly after he finished his breakfast, pulling on his sweatshirt to finish off the layers of clothing he had on before searching for his keys. It was a nice winter day to go ice skating, and it had been cold for enough days that the ice would be thick and sturdy. He was excited, that much was still sure as he put on his coat and stuffed his hat and both a pair of gloves and some extra ones for Rowan into his pocket. If she forgot some he didn't want her hands getting cold.
Rowan heard her phone buzz and quickly checked it. She smiled as she texted back, "Sounds great to me! See you soon :)" before putting away her phone and grabbing her gloves and her winter hat. The gloves were a lot thinner than she would have liked, but she needed to be able to sign to Soren easily and thin gloves aloud for the clearest signing. At least her hat was thicker and made of wool so it was much warmer.
"See you soon :)" He quickly texted back before leaving the apartment. Soren didn't take long to reach his car, though every step towards it was exciting. He was finally going to see Rowan again and he was more than estatic as he reached his car and before long was driving to her place. This was going to be a fun day, he could tell already.
Rowan was smiling as she went to the front and waited for Soren's car to show up. She was also excited to show Soren how she had progressed in her magic since she had been progressing over the past week. The moment his car showed she put her thin little gloves on and walked outside towards his car.
Soren hopped out of his car as soon as it was parked, a bright smile on his face as he spotted Rowan. "Hi again, ready to go?" He asked happily, walking around to the passengers side and opening the door for her, "How has your week been going? Any magic practice?"
Rowan gave him a huge smile and a thumbs up. She began to sign her answers stopping at the passenger door, ”My week has been great! I’ve been practicing magic plenty and I think I’m really understanding how to use it! How about you? I mean how has your week been?”
(Sorry for the wait I was visiting friends for the past few days)
"That's amazing! My week has been good, how was yours? I'm excited to see how good you've gotten so far," He replied in the same happy tone as before, waiting until she was in the car before closing the car again and circling around to his side of the car. Easily he slipped in, smiling at her as he once again started driving.
Rowan beamed at him after hearing his comments. She made sure to sign quickly to him before he needed to start driving because once he started it would be hard to communicate with him, "My week was great! I think I've gotten really good at using magic, but I don't know how I good I've really gotten."
"Well, I can always give you tips once I see how far you've gotten," He offered, glancing over at her just long enough to read what she signed before keeping his eyes back on the road, smiling softly the entire time. Soren motioned to the radio with the same soft smile after a minute, "If you want, you can play music or mess with the heat in here, I'm fine with anything."
Rowan nodded as she reached over to turn on the radio. She couldn't sign to him, but she could express how she felt through music. It took a moment to find a station playing songs that mirrored her emotions, but she eventually got there.
Soren smiled as music came on, humming along once she settled on a station and he recognised the song. He even tapped his fingers against the steering wheel and glanced over at Rowan, though quickly turned his attention back to the road.
Rowan smiled as she saw him tapping and humming along. She was really happy he recognized it since she didn't know if he would. She nodded along to the music since she couldn't sing or hum along, but it was a really good song.
