Jade looked at him, intrigued by the possibility he had mentioned. ”Has that actually happened?” she asked. It wasn't unheard of for a powered individual to lose control of their ability; depending on what it was, of course. She had her over thought attacks, for example, and she knew of other cases as well.
"Uhm…like twice." Killian replied, shaking his head a little bit. He grabbed the fish food, and sprinkled some food into the tank. The fish came to the surface to eat.
Jade hummed in acknowledgement, unsure of what to say. Honestly, she considered him lucky that it had only happened to him twice but who knows what happens when he loses control. She smiled as she turned her attention to the small aquarium and watched the little fish swim around.
He smiled a little as he watched the fish, putting the food away. He checked on the snails and plants, making sure they were all alive.
”Do any of these little guys have names?” Jade asked, a little curious and wanting to start up another conversation.
Killian hesitated, then shook his head. "No, they don't. I can't tell them apart, most days." He replied with a soft laugh.
Jade chuckled a little with him. ”That’s fair. They're pretty fast, too.” she commented. ”Why’d you decide to get fish instead of like a dog or something?”
Killian nodded, then sighed. "Well, if I can't get home for a while, fish won't make a mess of the house, for one thing." he replied.
”Understandable.” Jade nodded, encouraging him to continue if he had other reasons.
"As for the other reason…." Killian trailed off, shaking his head. "Doesn't matter."
Jade looked at him curiously. ”You got me interested now. Why doesn't it matter and if it doesn't matter then why won't you tell me?” she asked before placing a gentle hand on his arm. ”I won't judge.”
Killian shook his head a little bit. "No." he said slowly. "I'd rather not."
Jade sighed and let her hand slide off him. ”Ok.” she said gently but a little annoyed by how closed off Killian was about somethings. ”When I was a kid, I drew up blueprints for a robotic pet. I never decided if I was going to make it a cat or a dog though.” she commented normally to, hopefully, help him relax a little.
Killian laughed a little bit at that admission. "Ah. That sounds exciting." he replied with a smile.
”It was an interesting idea.” Jade shrugged. ”I never went through with it. Mostly because I couldn't make up my mind on the species.”
Killian chuckled. "Mm. You could have done one of each.' he said, smiling a little.
Jade gave a tilted nod at the suggestion. ”If I had the extra materials and time, I could have.” she agreed. ”But it would have made it harder to hide how smart I really was back then if I had two robo-pets.”
Killian nodded a little bit, letting out a soft chuckle. "Ah, that's true." he agreed.
”I suppose I could still do it now and just use a hologram to make it look however I want.” Jade said thoughtfully. ”Maybe make it a little bit of a security for the Den.”
Killian raised his eyebrows at her. "Ah, there you go." He replied. "Want something to drink? I've got…water, soda, milk, alcohol?"
Jade smiled a little before nodding. ”Sure. Soda sounds good. I still have to drive home.” At some point… she reminded him.
Killian nodded. "What type? I have root beer, coke, or Sprite." He chuckled softly.
”Coke, please.” Jade smiled as she looked around before following him out to the main part of the living room.
"Alright." Killian snapped his fingers, and a Coke appeared on the coffee table. "There." He winked, laughing.
Jade laughed at the display of his power, still amazed at how flexible and easy it was for him to use. ”Show off.” she smiled playfully as she picked up the drink. ”Thank you.”
Killian winked, laughing. "Mhm." He agreed. "And you're welcome." He snapped his fingers, and another can appeared in his own hands.
Jade almost giggled at the wink but held back as she sat down and took a sip of her soda.
Killian smiled at her, sitting down in his own seat.
”So, you catch up on any of your bingeing lately?” she asked casually, remembering one of his hobbies.
Killian chuckled. "Eh, not much, to be honest. I've been working on stuff." He shrugged.
