Jade hummed not quite convinced. ”Was it about me?” she asked softly.
Jade hummed not quite convinced. ”Was it about me?” she asked softly.
"Uhh…yeah." Killian replied slowly.
”Ah. I… I see.” Jade said with a light blush. ”Nothing bad, right?”
"I uh…no?" Killian cleared his throat and pointedly didn't quite look at her. "Nothing that bad."
”But you won't look at me because of it?” Jade noticed with a soft sigh. ”If you don't want to talk about it… I guess I could just ask him. He doesn't have the ability to get embarrassed yet… Maybe I should work on that.” she thought out loud.
Killian blinked, and made a choking sound. "No, er…no need to ask him!" he stammered. "Really."
Jade raised a brow at his too quick response but blushed a little when she realized she had said that last part out loud. ”Why not? It's obvious that you don't want to talk about it with me and I don't want to make you any more uncomfortable but I can’t just forget something like this.” she admitted, helplessly.
"Well…he sort of thought we were a couple? Which, er…" Killian shrugged slightly. "I had to explain to him that we weren't, and that wasn't a thing, and, er…"
”Oh!” Jade blushed in surprise. ”I- uhh… I can see how that would embarrass anyone. I… I’ll definitely talk to him and straighten that out.” she promised. ”He must have assumed that because of that one time I kissed you.” Her blush darkened.
He coughed, then cleared his throat loudly. "Uh…yeah. Probably." he replied, sighing softly.
”I’m sorry about him. He really is kind of like a kid in some ways. I… don't know what else to say…” she sighed, not looking at him. ”Maybe curiosity really did kill the cat.”
He laughed softly. "Mm. He'll mature eventually. Maybe."
Jade chucked, still red-faced. ”I’ll make sure he does. It’ll just take a little coding… But I promise not to change him, his personality or anything like that.” she barely managed to smirk.
He chuckled softly, and nodded. "Alright." he replied, a very faint blush on his own cheeks too.
”I really am sorry about him. I can't imagine how that conversation made you feel.” Jade apologized again.
"It's fine, Jade. Just a little embarrassing." Killian replied, shaking his head.
”If you're sure.” Jade said, letting the topic drop. It's not possible anyway. We may be friends now but… He wouldn't like me like that. That flirty demeanor of his… He probably treats everyone like that…
"Yeah." Killian replied, and nodded. We could be… could we be more than friends? Or…no. No, she wouldn't want that.
Jade gave him a small awkward smile and finished her meal. Serves you right for making things weird… It's not like he’d really be interested in you… He wouldn't want that… she sighed softly and rubbed her forehead, trying to ease the slight headache she felt starting.
Do I want that? Sort of, maybe? But…there's no way in hell that she would want me. I'm just the villain here. Killian finished up his food.
Jade closed her eyes trying to make herself stop thinking about… the impossible. But her mind wouldn't let her as it continued to come up with hundreds of scenarios. ”Owww…” she hissed softly.
Killian frowned. "You alright?" He asked, raising his eyebrows and looking at her.
”Y-yes. I'm ok.” she said through gritted teeth. ”No need to worry unless I get a nose bleed.” Jade managed to open her eyes for a moment to look at him. ”You remember when you made that suggestion about what it would be like if we were in the opposite roles?”
Killian nodded slowly. "Okay. And…yes?" he replied slowly.
Jade blushed a little. ”Well… That's what's happening right now.” she explained, hopefully well enough as she closed her eyes tightly. She wasn't going to tell him the topic that brought this ”attack”… It would probably scare him off if he knew how deeply her mind delved into things and what images were playing in her head right now.
"Oh." Killian replied slowly. "Anything I can do to help?" he questioned, raising his eyebrows and looking at her carefully.
Jade shook her head, uncertain. She usually kept this side of her power secret by locking herself in her room or the Den until it faded. ”I-I don't know…” she groaned, trying to focus on her breathing… It was something she did to anchor herself to what was real. Instead of getting lost in her own head.
Killian nodded, and reached over and gently put his hand on top of hers, trying to reassure her as much as he could. "Alright."
Instinctively, Jade gripped his hand. She didn't think about it, she just did. It was… almost comforting… and much easier to concentrate on. More concrete than just breathing. As she focused on the strength of his hand; the ridges, contours and rough spots it became easier for her to relax.
Killian held her hand gently, his fingers strong but gentle. He watched her carefully, hoping she would be alright.
