He chuckled, putting it on, and nodding. "I'll be fine." he replied, turning the hover board on and getting on it. "Trust me." he zipped out of the room fast as a blink, the board moving quickly as he steered through the streets, headed towards the address she had given him.
Jade sighed and wondered if letting him do this counted as criminal activity on her part. She walked back to her desk and activated the earpiece and turned on the bug. ”Enjoying the ride?” she said into the microphone.
Laughter greeted her. "Uhm, duh." came Killian's laughing response. "I'll be there in a few minutes." he kept piloting the hover board through the streets, headed towards the apartment she had told him about.
”Ok. Try to keep the damage level low and don't get shot.” Jade instructed half-joking as she watched thru the camera on his shoulder.
"Fine." Killian replied. He murmured a few spells under his breath. "I should be pretty much impervious to bullets, though, so I should be fine."
Jade raised a brow at his comment. ”That’s news to me. Anyway, his apartment is on the fifth floor and in the middle of the hallway.” she pointed out as the building came into view.
"It's magic, Jade." Killian replied, then nodded. "Alright. No more talking, then. It's hard to intimidate someone while also talking to someone else."
Jade rolled her eyes and bit her tongue to keep from saying that ”magic” wasn't an explanation… And from making the pointless response of sticking out her tongue at him.
Killian got off the hoverboard, and hid it. Humming the "1812 overture" under his breath, he pulled on gloves, and climbed the building.
Jade actually had to temporarily turn off the mic to keep from distracting him as she laughed.
Killian chuckled softly. He had done similar things to this before. Usually at night, but still. He slipped in through a window.
”I swear if he's not home and you do that cliche waiting in the chair thing; I’m going to smack you.” Jade warned with a light laugh.
"Hmm. Why?" Killian asked, mouth twitching in a smirk. "Darling, I'm all cliches." He laughed.
Jade rolled her eyes at his response and fell silent again as she watched the monitor. It seemed quiet for a moment before they both heard the cocking of a gun right next to Hex’s head.
Killian whirled around, fists coming up in a neat sucker punch as he darted away from the gun barrel and the man who wielded it.
Darren Cook dodged the punch but kept the gun trained on Hex. ”What are you doing here?” he scowled.
"Looking for you." Killian replied. He murmured a spell, and the gun flew out of Darren's hands and hit the wall with a clatter.
Darren cursed as the gun hit the wall and clenched his fists at his sides. ”Should I be flattered?” he growled. ”What do you want with me?”
"Sit down." Killian waved a hand, pinning the man down on his own couch with magic, and leaned over him. "Now, this can be easy, or hard. Depends on if you cooperate. Got it?"
Darren’s glare darkened as he struggled against the magic. ”I know who you are, you freak, and I ain't scared of you.”
"Okay, guess it's the hard way." Killian replied, not seeming fazed by the insult. "Okay. Now, do you know anything about an attack on a hero recently?"
Darren raised a brow slightly. ”Surprised you care about a ”hero” but no, I haven't heard about something like that. It would have been on the news.”
”Remember, I just got an official name.” Jade told him. ”The news has occasionally called me a ”Trinity look-alike”. You know, from the Matrix.”
"The one the news calls the Trinity Look-alike. And it hasn't been on the news because of certain reasons. Now, I know a large deposit was recently made in your bank account, and that you're ex military. Good with a gun. Trinity look-alike was sniped. Therefore, you are a prime suspect." He leaned menacingly over Darren. "Now. Tell me what you know, or start losing things." There was only a cold, hard sincerity in his voice.
Darren rolled his eyes at the threat. ”Ok, first of all, those kinds of threats don't work on me. And second, why should I believe anything you say about an attack in the first place?” he managed a very small shrug. ”Besides, isn't she that hi-tech chick who’s always kicking your butt. Even if I did shoot the real one I didn't think you’d get so uptight about it. I wasn't expecting a thank you or anything but…”
Killian growled. "One, because I saw film of the attack. And if anyone gets to kill her, it's going to be me, not some lowlife thugs." He replied. "Now, did you shoot her, or not?"
Jade shuddered at the threat Hex made but tried to convince herself that he was only saying it to get Darren to talk.
”I ain't a thug and you couldn't have seen the attack.” Darren growled back. ”I shot something, yeah, sure. Don't really know who it was under the helmet, but I was nowhere near where the actual attack was. I was told it was just another villain trying to start up and I would be helpful in stopping that from happening.”
(gtg to bed. Good night!)
Killian growled again. "So, you shot someone. You were paid for it. But you weren't in the least bit curious as to who you were shooting? You didn't care?"
”Why should I care about any of you super-powered freaks?” Darren snarled back. ”You all think you're so superior. That you're above everyone else and can do whatever you want!” he renewed his struggles to get free. ”Even the so-called ”heroes” think they can get away with anything!”
Killian narrowed his eyes. "Hm. If that's what you think." He replied with a shrug. "Heroes help people. It's people like me that you should be scared of."
