Jade gave a soft sigh of relief as the computer pulled up what information she had about Harbinger as well as some footage from a couple of his fights. She looked over at Killian, debating if she should interrupt whatever he was concentrating on to share the information with him or if she should wait a moment longer.
Killian opened his eyes again. "Nothing." he said softly, shaking his head a little. "Did you find anything?" he tried to push away the awkwardness caused by that kiss.
Jade nodded. ”Yes. Apparently, he's some kind of summoner, mostly objects and usually nothing bigger than an average car. At least not for very long or without strenuous effort.” she explained as she clicked on one of the videos. ”I’m assuming he may have a ranged area for how far away certain objects can be from him.”
Killian nodded slowly. "Hm. Interesting. I would guess his abilities don't apply to humans or other living things…and it explains why that tranquilizer wasn't embedded in you when you came to my house." he said.
”Not that I've seen.” Jade agreed before groaning. ”I think I have an idea why he attacked me specifically. It's a bit petty but… It’s not that surprising to me.” she said resting her head in her hands.
Killian nodded, then looked at her. "What?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. He hesitated, then lightly put a hand on her shoulder.
”It's a little embarrassing.” Jade told him. ”When we first met, after he flirted with me, I turned him down by making a quip saying that if he really was as great at summoning as he was boasting that he should just summon a woman who would actually be interested in his advances.”
Killian blinked, frowning a little. "Hm. So you think he maybe was…" he trailed off, narrowing his eyes. What was he planning to do, exactly? And…did he succeed?
Jade gave a brief shudder before sitting up straight. ”I'm not sure what he was planning but I remember after I told him that he gave me this look as if I just insulted the size of his… manhood before I looked away.” she admitted with a light blush. ”I wouldn't be surprised if the look turned into a glare afterward.”
Killian nodded slowly. "I think I can guess what he was planning." he replied in a dark tone. "And it was nothing good." he shook his head a little. "At least you stood your ground, though."
Jade closed her eyes as Killian hinted at what she had suspected earlier. ”I think you're right about what he was trying to attempt.” she gave another shudder. ”I don't remember much of it but at least he was unable to get my helmet or my suit off.”
Killian sighed softly, nodding. "That's good." he replied. "That he wasn't able to do that." he shook his head a little. "And this dude calls himself a hero? Come on. Even I have more morality than that!"
Jade nodded, her eyes still closed, and placed her hand over his. For a moment, it felt like she couldn't talk; her mouth was dry and her throat was tight. She managed a deep shaky breath before speaking. ”We’re really only called heroes for what people see us do in public and what gets reported. If no one sees it then… ” she sighed shakily.
"If no one sees it then it didn't happen." Killian muttered darkly. He was frowning. "I'm going to kill him." He commented without preamble, eyes dark.
”Please don’t.” Jade opened her eyes, now a bit red from holding back tears, and gave Killian a pleading look. ”He… I don't think… You shouldn't be…” she couldn't get a full sentence out but it wasn't just because of Harbinger.
"I shouldn't be what?" Killian demanded, looking down at her with worry and anger in his eyes. The anger wasn't directed at her, of course, but at Harbinger.
”He's not worth it. If you kill him; there's no coming back from that. It won't do anyone any good. Not for you, not for me.” she told him, gripping his arm. ”It won't change what happened. I don't want you to sink to that level and I don't want you to be hunted for murdering, someone who the public still considers, a hero.”
Killian crossed his arms. His eyes were black. "Then I'm going to make the rest of his life living hell." He replied. "And you can't stop me." There was a darkness to his voice and tone that hadn't surfaced until now.
Jade pulled back slightly as she had never seen his eyes turn black before. Nor had she heard his voice like that. ”I just…” she sighed and looked away from his eyes. ”I won't stop you. I don't think he deserves your attention but I won't stop you.”
Killian shrugged. "I may not be a good person, but at least I ask for consent." He replied calmly, but still with that dangerous anger to his voice.
Jade gave a very small shaky smile. ”You’re a better person then he is. And not just for that reason.” she told him. ”Maybe we can bring down his reputation a little as well. It might hurt him more.”
Killian shrugged. "I'm still going to make his life a living hell. A few well placed curses ought to do the trick."
”Just don't make it too obvious. I really don't want you to get into too much trouble. At least not more than you can handle.” Jade said, still looking at the screen and not at him.
Killian shrugged. "I'll be fine. The bastard can't touch me anyway." he replied, shaking his head and looking at her. Have I…scared her? He wondered, then looked away.
Jade gave a light chuckle. ”I remember. You beat him pretty good before. He didn't even stay long enough to wave to the cameras.” she smiled a bit wider. ”He didn't even look at them.”
