She blushed pink and smiled. "You don't have to thank me, Alyssa. It's been enough to just have his company, his compassion, his want to protect me in…whatever form that may be." She giggled. "But believe me, accepting who he chooses to be isn't a problem. Hell, I'd support him if wanted to be a damn toaster." Her smile faded a little. "I guess that's what makes me such an easy target."
Alyssa placed a gentle hand on Becca's. "Rebecca. You are not an easy target." She says gently. "You are a good person, and that is the bravest thing you can do in this world." She smiled a little. "Be proud of yourself." Alyssa muttered quietly.
"After all I've been through, it's really not that simple." She mumbled to herself before sighing. "You're too sweet Alyssa, you really are."
"I know it's not simple. But perhaps you can heal each other, no?" Alyssa asks gently. "And I know he will do anything to protect you. My question is, Becca. Will you protect him?"
"Of course. That's not even a question." Her answer was immediate. She knew that it was a huge task for her to take on herself but she could handle it. Right?
She nods and smiled "Then we have an understanding. I like you Becca. But know I will not hesitate for my brother. Even if it is his girlfriend. But I know you will not hurt him." She says gently.
She relaxed slightly, sighing of relief internally. At least she had one person on her side when it came to dating Ace. And she was certainly glad that it was his sister.
She smiled and stood, patting Becca's hand before walkint to her brothers side and talking quietly before sitting down beside her sleeping brother, yawning softly and setting a hand on her brothers arm gently. She looked pained.
She frowned slightly at her pained state but knew there wasn't much she could do about it so she just laid back, wishing she could join Ace in sleep but knowing she wouldn't be able to.
The doctor left after a little while and Alyssa fell asleep with her head on her brothers bed, her hair falling over her face as she slept.
She sighed quietly, picking at her fingernails. After years of abuse and constant fear, she'd developed a pretty severe case of insomnia. So she was pretty confident in her theory that she wouldn't be sleeping tonight.
Ace woke up a little while later, looking panicked and afraid. He saw his sister, then he saw Becca. He called down a little but still looked absolutely terrified. He leaned back in his bed, breathing deeply.
She turned her attention to him, glancing at the clock before frowning slightly. "Ace? Is everything alright?" She whispered. It's 3:26 in the morning so clearly the answer is no but hey, better to hear straight from the horse's mouth.
Ace jumped when she spoke but nodded. "Yeah… just a nightmare…" He mutters quietly. Ace leans back into his bed and sighs softly, looking up at the ceiling.
Her frown deepened slightly. She seriously wished she could've gone over there to comfort him but the many wires keeping her alive forbid her from doing so. "Sorry honey. Try to get back to sleep though, alright? It's late and with all you've been through, you need your sleep."
"I know." he says quietly, looking down before sighing and shutting his eyes. He didn't fall asleep. He didn't want to dream of that again… He sighed and curled in on himself.
She sighed quietly, returning to absentmindedly staring at the ceiling and picking at her nails. There wasn't really much else she could do.
He ended up falling asleep again, only to have that reoccurring nightmare. He shifted, opening his eyes again and just sitting there, feeling miserable and close to tears.
She hummed softly, just to keep her mind occupied during this long night. Her singing was beautiful, she just never accepted it. Her humming was only a taste of that though.
Ace listened to her hum and he smiled a little. He shut his eyes, falling asleep. This time, the memories and the pain left him alone.
She just hummed to herself, just watching the ceiling. She'd do this all night, probably. Insomnia was a bitch like that.
(Just to the morning? When he wakes up?)
Alright//
Ace woke with a soft groan, hissing in pain. Alyssa was outside in the hall, and she was crying softly. Ace looked very concerned before looking at Becca. "Are you alright, love?" He asks gently.
She turned to him and smiled softly. "I'm alright. But shouldn't I be asking you that?" She hadn't slept all night, due to both insomnia and fear over him having another nightmare.
"Yeah… I'll be alright." He says gently before standing carefully. He winced and walked out into the hall, dragging his IV with him to talk to his sister. They exchanged some words before she broke down and he hugged her. They walk back into the room and he sets Alyssa on his bed. "Get some rest sis." He says gently before waking to Beccas side and sitting down.
She watched with a slight smile before finally turning to him. "What, no good morning kiss?" She giggled softly.
Ace smiled a little and stood, kissing her lips happily before gazing at her lovingly. "Good morning, angel." He says quietly, taking her hand and squeezing it gently.
