"Yes, I am talking to you!" Guinevere called out. "You clearly understand me, so I'm just going to lay this out for you: I have children in this building, and I am charged with protecting them. If you so much as look at them funny, I'll cut your head off and mount it on my wall."
"Yes. Being different is fun. And useful." Raven carefully extracted her hand. "I don't…. Usually people don't touch me. Especially after they find out. You're an odd one, Aiday."
Nevihata listened in, letting out a slight chuckle when he heard the last note. He'd stop quick though, for fear of anyone noticing him. He'd stay very, very still; though he did not look downwards, so the light from his night-vision was clear.
Aiday stepped between the beast and Guinevere. "Do not attack." she warned.
Guinevere's eyes widened. "Wh– How did–?" she sputtered. "Did you jump out the window or something? Get back here, I'm supposed to protect you!"
Raven snickered to herself. What did this girl think she could do? Still, she couldn't help but like Aiday, and her respect for the other girl was growing exponentially
The creature was unsure. It was used to being a top predator, but to suddenly be spoken to was not an everyday occurrence. Usually the words were more-so screams followed by begging.
"Bad? Only pass through…no harm…"
A soft noise came from its stomach where the creature's offspring was being held. The beast made a rumble, which quickly quieted its little one down.
"Do not worry about me," Aiday said softly.
She walked up to the creature. "Do not fear. Come."
Guinevere's ears perked up (metaphorically) when she heard the whimper of the small creature. "Do you have a baby?" She stepped in front of Aiday, sheathing her weapons and holding her open palms in front of her body.
Nevihata decided to get closer to where the ongoing conversation was happening, in hopes of listening in further. He stepped on some dead leaves on the way, before halting again, head tilted.
"Be careful." Aiday whispered to Guinevere. then her head spun around. "Who are you?" she said to the thing in the bushes.
"It's a raccoon or something," Guinevere interrupted. She looked towards the baby creature and began to coo. "Ooh, it's so cute!"
The beast could sense, so far, that these individuals did not mean any immediate harm. It slowly started to move, leaning backwards, sitting on its haunches. The middle set of arms, moved, revealing the smaller creature, which was indeed its offspring.
The beast moved its little one, grabbing it with its first set of arms, moving and cradling it against its shoulder. It then looked downwards, once again speaking, "Little one yes…"
The small creature clung tightly to its parent. Though it turned its head, hearing a soft 'crunch' nearby. The little one gave a chirrup, blue eyes staring into the darkness towards whoever was there.
Aiday arched her brow. "No one will harm you." she said, coming closer to Nevihata.
Nevihata seemed to tilt his head again, staying silent but for his breathing. He'd back up slightly, then stand up, slowly. The only thing visible was a light outline of his humanoid features and the green light from his night-vision. Nevihata simply stood, seemingly staring directly at the girl.
"Hello," she said simply, "Who are you?"
Guinevere stopped her fawning long enough to see the silhouette and positioned her hands in just a position to minimize attention to herself but to prepare to grab her revolver.
Aiday gazed back at her reproachfully. "Don't shoot him."
Nevihata stayed silent for another second before moving a hand to the side of his helmet. The green light flicked off as he switched off his night vision, before allowing his arm to come back to his side. He'd still stay silent for a few more seconds, before speaking. "I'm a person." He'd keep his answer short and simple.
"Well obviously." she said curtly, a smile tugging at her lips. "What else?"
"Yeah well I'm Raven and if you come any closer I'm going to shoot you, human."
"What kind of person?" Guinevere asked, still keeping her hand positioned where it was. Now there was a baby animal involved, and there was no way she'd let this fool try and mess with it.
"Be nice." she chided the others. She smiled at him, "You're safe with me."
Seeing all of the weapons, the draconic beast shifted uneasily. Despite the curious coos from its offspring, the large creature didn't feel it was safe to let the little one down, despite it starting to squirm.
"Why are you so trusting?" Guinevere asked, exasperated. "I'm getting paid to keep you alive, and cordially greeting every Tom, Dick, and Harry that pops up out of a bush jeopardizes my paycheck!"
"Human?" He'd click his tongue, stepping into view. It was almost like he came from space which he did, but he's not gonna say that just yet, wearing some light armour in similar design to camo, and his helmet that covered his head and facial features from view.
"I have yet to find out who I am. And," he turned to the original person, Aiday. "Maybe a bit of alien too."
She tilted her head, "I have a friend who would be interested to meet you."
She looked at Guinevere eyebrows arched. "I'm not. Maybe I just know things you don't.
Guinevere placed her hands on her hips. "Well, APPARENTLY, none of y'all decided to let me in on this! I operate on having the most information I can when taking on a job, and now I've got two little girls, whoever those idiots upstairs are, Rocket Man over here, and… whatever you are," she turned to the large creature.
Aiday smiled. "You're funny."
