Ace of Thieves
The Regime sunk its claws into each and every Ace in the world—including Blair's brother.
Seeing Wren’s grave every day only made him doubt further that his brother was gone—his unbridled, cheery, genius younger brother. Blair may have lost his memories, and years of his life, but he was sure. The coffin sounded empty and hollow. How could Wren be dead?
Sifting through the roots of his family and his amnesia, and burning through the rubble of the Regime, Blair remembers bit by bit what happened on the day his brother disappeared.
Bit by bit, Blair unsheathes the memory covered in soot and magic and blood.
How could Wren be dead? Because he’s standing right in front of him.
Dark fantasy, action
6 Spirits—corresponding with the elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Darkness, and Light—roamed and created the nature of earth. They structured mountains, water, the sun and moon and galaxy. But as the world grew more crowded with trees and caves, the Spirits realized it was too big of a world for only 6. So, they all merged their own Emblem into a body, morphing the raw magic into something that was living.
Unfortunately, being corrupted by so much magic at once, a violent Spirit was born, and ran off at once to explore the world.
The 6 Spirits, now needing something to rid these violent creatures, all merged their magic together into one figure—a human. This human carried one Emblem within them, the gift of Water. More, more, and more of these humans were born and thrown into the world, some working to fight Spirits, others working to build cities.
At some point, these humans reached a far deeper understanding of what their magic held. Thus, on a dry summer day, a human discovered an Ace, an ability designed specifically for them, one for every soul.
The Spirits, now confident that the humans don’t need their help much longer, finally lived out their years. During their deaths, they left behind a piece of their Emblem in the world, one powerful on the day of their death/birth to help humans have days of peace, without Spirits trying to rage upon them, instead drawn towards these pieces of magic.
After all 6 Spirits made their way into the next lifetime, the humans were left on their own to fend off the Spirits.
Same laws of physics as in the real world.
There are two different types of magic—Emblems, and Aces.
Emblems are, simply put, elemental magic. This is the common ground of magic, in which everyone has one Emblem. They obey common rules and agree with the elements it pulls from (ex: if you pull out a chunk from the ground, the ground isn’t gonna regrow.).
Aces, though, are a more complex form of magic. Aces have dominated over Emblem magic, and are unique abilities given to each person. Common Aces can coexist (two people can have the same Ace), but they will always have different stats (one relies more on strength, the other relies on mental focus, etc.)
More cyberpunk like. Although buildings are fairly old fashioned and The Ruins are 99% mansions/castles, the tech surrounding it is very advanced. There are hologram phone calls, holographic TVs and such.
