It's basically like on Earth, but there are ghosts, spirits, and the Ünterworld. Those guys kind of have their own laws down there....

Um- Earth, and the idea that ghosts COULD be real.
The word Ghostwriter was the main inspo, and the title of the book is a play on words.
The book is called Ghost Writer because the girl is a ghostwriter but the book is written by her and a ghost. And the ghost is writing it to achieve the Third Trial, and thus be granted access to the Ünterworld.
