Karapashi

The Karapashi are a race of large, sturdily-built individuals who have thick, chitinous exoskeletons covering much of their bodies.

Perhaps the most noticeable feature of all for the Karapashi is their physical stature. Their faces are also rather severe and not particularly expressive, lending a certain air of gruffness or standoffishness to them.

The average Karapashi is roughly 8 to 9 feet tall.

Carapace color and height tend to vary most. The Karapashi do grow hair on their heads that can come to be very lengthy, and it is common for it to be styled in braids, locks, or other such styles.

Wearing clothing is not unheard of on the Karapashi homeworld, however it is a more common practice offworld. As such the Karapashi tend to borrow styles from wherever they are. Clothing can be helpful for Karapashi in colder climates, as their homeworld is a hot and balmy world.

For the most part Karapashi of either gender are broad-shouldered and muscular with an imposing stature. By their nature they don't have a particular propensity for body fat.

Karapashi exoskeletons grow in a variety of colors, mostly shades of grey, green, and brown. Blue and red are not unheard of, either.

Anyone knowledgeable about fighting hand-to-hand with Karapashi is bound to know the points worth targeting—their armor plates are not without gaps. The Karapashi are also not the most nimble, fast, or flexible creatures, traits that can be used against them in combat.

Physical strength and endurance are big strengths for the Karapashi. With some notable exceptions, most of their bodies are impenetrable and not easily damaged by blunt or even most penetrating force. It takes a significant amount of force to puncture or damage their exoskeletons. Their size also allows them to reach and manipulate things out of the reach of many other races throughout the galaxy.

Karapashi technology is often brutish and purely functional, as most of it is designed for specific purposes and to withstand the harsh heat and arid climate of their homeworld.

Compared with other races, the Karapashi's presence among the stars is a relatively recent development, but their physiological size and the necessary scale of their ships has lent the Karapashi to interplanetary trade, handily able to transport larger quantities of items as well as larger single items than other races are immediately equipped for doing.

On-world rule of Karapash is still highly tribal, however representatives from the major tribes have joined forces to represent Karapash as a whole among the Coalition of Space-Faring Societies.

The Karapashi are major players in the interplanetary trade scene, particularly extremely large quantities or exceedingly sizeable items. This is primarily due to their especially big ships, which accommodate both their above-average physical size as well as that of their their typical cargo.
