When Ares was three, his mother sent him away for the first time. Kenna had just been born and his mother claimed she needed to have the house to herself for a bit. He went to live with his aunts in Endora for about two months. His mother never visited, but his father came down as frequently as he could. His father was the only person Ares ever genuinely loved. He grew to resent his mother and his sister, his mother for the neglect and Kenna for taking his mother away from him. He had been the center of attention when he was younger, all eyes always on him. The public eye didn't matter, it was his family that did. Jealousy overcame him and he would have fits constantly to gain attention from his parents, and when that didn't work he would torment Kenna. When she started showing signs of her power, a power Ares didn't have despite his Seldra heritage. He grew to resent her also because of her bottomless power and would threaten to kill her when his rage overcame him. When he didn't get what he wanted or when his parents weren't paying enough attention to him. He became dangerous and murderous, and he liked it. He liked knowing Kenna feared him. When he was thirteen, Sansora fell to Ecra and Adeline. Ares managed to escape Sansora before his parents death, and traveled to Velaris. He met secretly with Adeline, told him he resented Sansora just as much as she did. He felt some sort of callling to her, as if the wickedness inside the queen matched his own. Adeline laughed at him and nearly had him beheaded. Ares had spent two days in the royal dungeons until Adeline claimed to have changed her mind, saying that she felt a pull towards him. Towards the same darkness that crept through his veins. So she sent him to the Northen Pass, a moutain range where a palace had been built into the side of the moutain. There, he was trained and honed into a deadly, unfeeling weapon of war. A demon from the Dark World overtook him, a king he said he was. Ares welcomed the dark power, welcomed the untamed power that began to course through him. He worked with Adeline secretly, no one knew who he was and any still living family members of his mothers court thought him dead.
