Eben was an orphan, raised in the church orphanage in Oklahoma City, he had a lot of faith and when it was time to leave, he wanted to give back to the community that raised him. He went on some missions and was like disillusioned with how little the church actually did and started reflecting on his childhood, realizing maybe they didn't actually do that much for him so he left the church and started traveling around the country in search of proof of a higher power. One night he spots a really cool bug and wants to catch it to pin it but it stings him and he startles and falls down and hits his head, his cries attract Annie Moss, a Salubri healer who takes pity and decides to help him. She heals his wound and they talk a little bit, there is immediate chemistry and he's quite taken with her, she goes back to her camp. He keeps running into her on the road and in town and they get close but she's very mysterious but the chemistry is still insane and eventually they kiss one night while on a walk through the woods. Eben discovers she has three eyes and is like "hey what the fuck, dude? Are you a demon?" And she's like yes kind of i'm so sorry but I just think you're neat. He tells her he never wants to see her again, and storms off. The next time he sees her, she is being attack by Floyd, a cruel Brujah who was been tracking Annie down. Not understanding the weight of his actions, or that Annie is more capable of defending herself, he jumps in to save her but is immediately and brutally killed by Floyd.
