Avna was born and raised in Lost Bell, and knew no other life. A simple life, never thinking about the tower that sat on the outskirts of town or anything beyond her magical studies.

Then, the tower disappeared. But most in Lost Bell knew this happened from time to time, and the tower would always return eventually. This time the cycle seemed short as the tower came back less than a week later, and with its return came the first tugs of its pull for Avna.

So she went to investigate, finding the tower relatively intact and the urges silenced as long as she remained within its walls. She redecorated, made herself self-sufficient, and got whatever else she needed by trading with the townspeople.

Time passed, and age claimed Avna. Her soul was pulled into the pocket dimension Rook, the creature that made up the tower, used to hold the souls of all who inhabited it.

Then Howie Radagon took over the tower. When Rook revealed itself, he was understanding. When Howie helped Rook develop flesh warping abilities, the two teamed up to bring back Avna...though not as she had been.

Instead they took every soul Rook held, fused them into a singular entity, and infused them into a body. As Avna was the last to die she was also the most powerful personality, and so she simply became herself again; now holding far more knowledge, and a little changed personality wise for it, but mostly herself. She flesh warped the body she had been given to represent herself, and she lived with Howie as she adjusted to how time had changed the world she once knew.

In time they were wed, and despite opening themselves up to the island they also continued their experiments together. Perfecting Rook's flesh warping powers, and seeing what new abilities the entity could learn.

But the fey would not have it. They feared Avna's power, feared that if she set her sights on them they would not be able to stop her unless they intervened while she was still relatively weak by comparison to what they knew she could become. So they worked together, stealing Avna away in the night and imprisoning her in the fey realms.

When Howie found out he created a cover, then stopped at nothing to find his wife. Once he knew the fey were responsible he tried to rescue her, but they caught on first and sent her soul to the depths of the lower planes with the most powerful fiend lord, a place even Howie and Rook could not get to her.

Avna was tortured for the information she knew. Her soul was slowly drained until little remained, all the others that made her now gone. But hope was not lost, for an experiment created by Avna and Howie came to the rescue. A creature that named itself Radagon, and was the closest thing the pair would ever have to a child. He became part of The Adventurer's Guild and with a group of others made their way to the lower planes. Initially their mission had been to rescue another, but they left with a locket holding Avna's soul tucked into Radagon's pocket. A cruel trick by the lord of the lowest plane, perhaps, but Radagon was simply overjoyed to have his mother back.

Another ritual to build her a body and revive her was performed, and for a while all seemed well. But Avna was plotting her revenge against the fey, and shortly after her resurrection teamed up with a fey lady to murder the one who had imprisoned her.

Radagon, not knowing the truth and believing his mother incapable of murder, theorized that she had been corrupted by her time in the lower planes. He and his companions sought to cleanse her, and they believe the ritual worked; a belief that she will not shatter for now. The reality is that with one fey lady dead the others know she's returned, and they know that she is now willing to kill should they try to intervene further. The assassination was a message - threaten her or her family and next time it would be all of them, consequences of upsetting the balance of the fey realms be damned.

For now, Avna is recovering. Years spent without a physical body and having so much of her soul drained have taken their toll, after all. Howie still loves her, and he is more than willing to do what it takes to see her back to full health and power in time.
