Wears a white tunic with a blue sash over his lateral right shoulder. Ornate silver shoulder pauldron goes over sash, and attached is a red cape with gold embroidery.
Hirwaen is a driven and determined man. On the outside, he presents himself as a well-composed gentleman and a scholar. People meet him and believe Hirwaen to be a kind noble with respect for his people. While his respect for the poor is true, he only shows his true colors in the face of his enemies. He turns cold and ruthless in exacting his vengeance on those he despises through any means possible.
Although he is a meticulous planner, he gets overconfident when he underestimates his opponents, which can create gaps in his plans.
He wants nothing more than to avenge his grandfather and restore the Ultherion House to its former glory. By the time he achieved both of those things, he became so caught up in his hatred of Moondancers that he wants nothing more than to see them eradicated. He also blames them for escalating the conflict over the Relic of the Ocean into the Merfolk War.
Moondancers once destroyed his family's honor and his homeland. If he doesn't stop them, they will repeat the same tragedy over and over. Thus, he made it his goal to prevent that by wiping them off the continent.

Year 351, January 14 (Capricorn)
A merchant hailing from the Ultherion Dukedom accidentally set fire to a part of Serenity Forest. Specifically, the part that included the sacred Eclipse Moth nursery. The merchant said it was a mistake, but the moondancers claimed it was an act of aggression. When the Duke of Ultherion refused to provide compensation, the moondancers forcibly took it.
The duke's army didn't stand a chance. The newest Exorider Commander Asariel Thunderstream led his troops through town after town, pillaging everything valuable and slaughtering anyone who got in the way. They stormed the duke's castle and robbed every bit of wealth they found before heading for the family members themselves. At four years old, hiding in the wall behind a tapestry with his grandfather, Hirwaen had yet to understand what he had done to deserve seeing his family slaughtered before him.
Hirwaen inherited the lordship from his dead father, but without wealth, it was no longer a dukedom. The other noble houses squabbled for thousands of acres of land that the Ultherions were no longer strong enough to rule over. Once Hirwaen was old enough, he understood the reason why the other nobles scorned them at parties, why their rooms were devoid of servants, why their halls were marred with charred bricks and torn furniture that could not be replaced. Because they could afford nothing.
At 11 years old, he heeded his grandfather's dying wish to restore the Ultherions to their former glory. Alongside his training, Hirwaen wasted countless hours pouring over ancient scriptures to locate an ancient relic associated with the minor God of Blue Skies. On his eighteenth birthday, he made a deal with the god, who gifted him with a holy sword. However, the sword will disappear if he ever loses a fight against another being. He was also granted eternal youth for as long as he had the sword.
Wielding this blade, he elevated his house's status to new heights. Every campaign Hirwaen waged ended with maximum success and minimal casualties. Within five years, their territory had grown bigger than it was before the fall. Their coffers swelled even after they started funding all the region's desired infrastructure projects. They ran out of rooms to fix in the castle, so they hired servants to maintain them. Hirwaen started the Ultherion Institution, and with the castle's vast catalogue of rare scriptures, it attracted researchers from across the country.
Fifteen years later when the Relic of the Ocean was stolen, he was approached by royal messengers from the Laquoire Kingdom. They were asked to aid in the return of the Relic alongside two other human armies. Hirwaen said he would agree to only if his people would be allowed access to the Laquoire Kingdom's shores closest to his territory on top of the reward the family was offering. The merfolk agreed to those terms, and Hirwaen went to war.
On the battlefield, he was regarded as one of, if not, the strongest human soldier. In the war council meeting that preceded the Burning of Serenity Forest, he demanded to be strategically pitted against Asariel, claiming he was the only one who could best him in battle. Of course, Hirwaen's true intention was to get revenge on what Asariel did to his family. On the morning of the battle, the two met each other for the first time and fought to the death. Although Asariel was more than a hundred years older than Hirwaen, the holy blade guided him to victory. After cutting down Asariel, Hirwaen slayed the moondancer's beetle. He took Asariel's shield as a prize, unaware that it was not one of the duplicates being wielded by the other moondancer's, but the Relic of the Ocean itself. Like other humans, Hirwaen did not understand why the merfolk had failed to retrieve their Relic despite the battle ending in their victory.
Since he didn't know the true nature of the shield, he added it to his castle's Hall of Heroics as another accomplishment to his name.
Contracted to the minor god of Blue Skies
As part of their deal, Hirwaen was gifted a holy sword that glows a vibrant blue whenever he draws it. The blade can shoot beams and arcs of light when he is engaged in battle.
The sword is more effective against lunar-aligned species and elemental spirits.
Should Hirwaen ever lose, the sword will disappear forever.
