Shaun watches Ghabiun walk around his car, taking another drag from his cigarette. "Sorry dude, she's not gonna give up easily." He hums, before looking at Jesse when she storms outside. Oh shit she looks pissed, and oh shit she looks terrifying when she's pissed- Shaun watches her for a little longer before looking away, back towards the dog. He thinks it's really adorable when dogs with short tails wag them, it just wiggles their entire body as a result- Fish stares down at Ghabiun through the windo, hissing as the fur on her back raises up. She's staying inside the car, but if the dog somehow gets in here then she won't hesitate to scratch his eye out. Shaun watches them both, absentmindedly pulling his legs up next to him. He is sitting on his car after all-

Jax stared back at Rachel for a few heartbeats, his jaw tightened. He whistled for Phoenix, and she came running up to his side. “No, it was not of purpose. She was trying to have fun. It was an accident. She accidentally knocked the kid into the water.” He paused. “But Cass sees it as Phoenix wasn’t trained properly. I’m not sorry that I can’t train my dog to not have fun.” He gritted his teeth. “It would be a miserable life.” He kept on walking. He was not looking forward to talk with Cass. His perception of the big guy was still soured. Little time had passed. More like a few moments. He doubted Cass would have cooled off by now. Jax still had his flame. Phoenix growled back at Colt, protecting Jax from the other dog. However, Colt and Phoenix were about the same size in breed standard, so she was not protecting Jax from much. “Just keep your dog outside and nothing should happen. That’s what I’ll have to do if I don’t want a bullet through Phoenix’s head.” They were getting closer to the house. One could see the flaking, yellow paint and the chipped wood. Dear lord, save me now. Jax stepped onto the front porch, keeping his footsteps quiet as possible. A lump formed in his throat as he hesitated to knock on the front door. His hand hovered in the air for a good minute before he knocked, jumping from the sound it made.

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

She scoffed softly, "I understand that it's his kid but it's not like it was on purpose. It was an accident and the dog was meaning full well it shouldn't have escalated that much." though it probably did because emotion was heightened and he decided to hide away instead of facing him and taking responsibility. Guys probably protective of his kid.
She saw the house walking behind Jax as they got there, she whistled for colt to sit down on the porch and he sat down Though he looked as if he might protest against here.
"Jeez, you that freaked out about talking to him? Your so jumpy." She muttered looking away with crossed arms as she stood there waiting for him to knock.
"Just don't pass out if he ends up yelling at you." She muttered as she looked around scanning the surrounding area of the house.

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Jax shook his head. He didn’t want to talk about. He though Phoenix was trained well enough to be around kids. It’s not like she bit and dragged Fia’s body into the river. “I don’t care anymore. I shouldn’t care anymore. The only thing I should care about is surviving the apocalypse.” He sighed. He gave a command to Phoenix and she sat. She waited impatiently, panting quickly. She didn’t want to see the big man. “I— loud noises scare me..” He didn’t think excuses were going to work. “Yes, I am scared of him. Last time I did, yknow a few minutes ago, he threatened us.” Jax waited patiently, hoping Cass was too mad to answer the door. He didn’t want to confront him.

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

"If you say so." She didn't really care about the whole argument so she wasn't gonna push. Her eyes widened as she was still looking away, before she looked back over at him. She could sympathize with loud noises being frightening…though she wouldn't exactly show that she felt for him on the outside. Loud noises triggered her fight or flight response, but only if it was someone who was yelling at her or loud banging.
She could usually conceal her how she felt on the inside when it happened so she wasn't all that worried about them finding out.
She felt the urge to roll her eyes, but held it back.
"Don't let them know your afraid, even if it terrifies you. Power through it to make sure they know they don't have power over you." She spoke to him in a low tone of voice as she looked at the door. She knew what it was like to be afraid, but you could never let them know. The moment you show your afriad- the moment you show weakness, its all over.
You just have to suck it up, and March right on as if it dosent bother you.
At least. That's how she got by in the world since she was a kid.

@Celeste_X0X0_ group

Cass stays kneeled down to Fia as he holds her small hands in his large ones, looking up into her glossy brown eyes. He explains to her how she was the most important thing in the world and that he would never let anything happen to her. And if something did- that Cassius wouldn't let them get away with it. He explains to her that what happened was very serious and she could have gotten hurt a lot more than she did. He tells her that dogs are dangerous and unpredictable and especially ill-trained ones.
That Cass had gotten mad at Jax because he refused to own up to the fact that this was his responsibility just as a parent would be responsible for their child acting up, as they raised them.
Fia nods, trying her best to understand it and for the most part succeeding. Though that doesn't stop the tears to fall down her red splotchy cheeks, her dark curls sticking to the sides of her face.
He swiped the strands out of her face and kisses her forehead, opening his mouth to say something else but only to hear a knock on the door. Fia's eyes widen and she looks to the door and then back to her father. "is he back??" she asks, sniffling.
He stands, turning to the door "here, go ahead and go upstairs. Just in case it's not him, I want you to be safe okay baby?" he says to her before she nods and runs upstairs.
He turns around and opens the door to see a pitiful, wet, and cold Jax, not one-but two dogs and a random ass girl that came out of nowhere.
what?
Cass looks from Jax to the woman, taking a deep breath, both of his eyes open. "hello" he says to the woman, looking back to Jax "whos this?"

Ghabiun continues to growl at the cat until Jesse steps out of the trailer. Her thick, dark brows furrowed in anger and her large arms crossed over her broad chest. He keeps his eyes on her and starts to whine, letting her know that he really-and I mean really wants this cat.
Jesse looks over to where she heard Ghabiun, spotting Shaun on his car, and glares at him. "why do you not go back inside?" she asks him grumpily

(Im sorry hers is short)

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Jax held his breath, half expecting the door to stay shut. He stood there for what seemed like eternity. Thoughts paced back and forth in his head, wondering what to say. He wasn’t worried how Cass would react to Rachel. He was worried about the confrontation. The wind whistled in his ears, and he felt his heart sink as the door creaked open. He was staring back a Cass. He kept quiet for many heartbeats, blinking as he stared into Cass’ eyes. The cloudy one nerved him so. But then Cass spoke, his voice breaking Jax out of his head. Who was she really? “I-I don’t know her name.. But she insisted I come back here. Insisted I didn’t freeze to death. Insisted I make amends. She kinda, tagged along, I guess.” Phoenix flattened her ears, a small growl coming from her throat. Jax stomped his foot, and she whimpered. She could tell her owner was fed up with her at the moment. “I’m really sorry Phoenix hurt Fia..” He felt that was a bad starter. “And-and it’s my fault she got carried away. She’ll stay outside for now..” Phoenix’s ears pricked at the word ‘outside’. He closed his eyes, wishing for this to be over. His grip on his satchel tightened. “I just needed to go on a walk to clear my head. For real, this time. I would love to gather my dry clothes.. So I don’t have to wear these wet ones..” There was an equivalent of a stone in his chest. It weighed him down immensely.

When Jesse was silent for a while, Cherry looked back at her and saw that things were not okay. Jesse may not have been looking at Cherry, but Cherry was highly sensitive to how others felt and the expression on her face said it all.
Oh.
Oh no.
It was a look of hurt but also pure anger.
Cherry had seen that before, though, not as intense as it was with Jesse. Cherry was never one to leave things how they were, if she screwed up, she made sure to apologize and do what she could to mend things, but right now she couldn't move. Not because she felt fear or hurt from Jesse's words but because she was stunned. She'd been called some pretty terrible things in the past, but this took the cake. It wasn't only just the words spoken but how they were spoken, with full intention and meaning. Like Cherry had done something irreversibly wrong.
Cherry had been in the middle of unwrapping the bandage for Pip but had frozen, looking down from Jesse like a scolded kid. Her face heated up, not from embarrassment but from the unkind words. Usually Cherry knew how to handle these situations, working in customer service before this taught her how to do that, but it seemed that this whole situation of the apocalypse had broken her. She didn't understand what she had said wrong, she had just wanted to help with the fighting. Maybe that wasn't her place.
When Jesse exits, Cherry stiffens up as she goes past her.
A lot of things pass through Cherry's head, analyzing what she had said, what could have been the trigger that upset Jesse so much, but she came up with nothing.
Cherry already felt so exhausted that at this point she just wanted to curl up and cry, maybe die, but Cherry didn't see a point in ending her life, at least, not at the moment. Even though Jesse had said those things, that being Cherry's fault, that didn't erase the fact that she owed one to Jesse.
Cherry showed no emotion other than a bit of sadness behind her eyes. It's not that she was cold or heartless, but she wasn't about to show that she was a crybaby either. If she wanted to stay safe and protected she'd have to act tough, bury some of the feelings she felt, no matter how much she tore herself up from the inside.
Cherry didn't get to finish processing completely what she had said wrong when Pip spoke up. Cherry's eyes softened at the kid even though she felt like someone had just put a dagger into her heart. She crouched down next to Pip and held her hand out as if asking to see his hands.
"It's not your fault, I said something I shouldn't have," Cherry spoke. "Jesse's mad at me, not you, I can promise you that." Cherry spaced out for a second, still stuck on Jesse's words.
Angela's words of comfort snapped Cherry back into the moment.
"Anyways.." Cherry's voice was soft, any louder and her emotions would pour out all over the place. "Can I see your hands please?" She said looking at the blood now on Pip's face.
"I promise I won't hurt you, though I'm sure your hands hurt a lot, I can't exactly fix that right away, but maybe the bandage will help," Cherry said, eyes on her hands as they kept undoing the bandage to wrap around Pip's hands.
"If you would prefer that your mother do this, I'm sure she would be more than happy to help you" Cherry looked up to Angela, offering the bandage to her.

@Fraust

Peregrine was still pretty wary about offering his hands again after Jesse's earlier comment, but since she had left the RV, he sniffled and tentatively held them out to Cherry so she could bandage them. He was still visibly trembling, and his eyes shone with tears. Despite Cherry and Angela's assurances, he still felt guilty. If he'd had an outburst like that back at home, his parents surely would have thrown him to the zombies, or at least locked him in 'the room' for a while. 'The room' was a soundproofed room that Pip was sometimes locked into if he was too loud or disruptive by his parents standards. There wasn't much in the room other than a couple pillows and blankets, and there was a slot in the door through which enough food to survive could be slid through. He'd tried to fit through the slot before to escape, but found that it was too small.

Pip came out of his thoughts when Cherry referred to Angela as his mother again. He still didn't correct her, but glanced up at Angela with a distant, confused expression. He still wasn't feeling very good, to be honest, so focusing on what was happening was difficult. "U-Uhm… you can… you can do it…" He replied softly, mumbling due to his nervousness. "Doesn't matter…"

He closed his eyes and rested his head against Angela, feeling dizzy and hot again. Waves of chills ran down his spine and he whined softly in discomfort. He wasn't really going to be able to improve very much until his hands and the infection were dealt with. He could feel his head starting to get heavy, and he struggled to keep himself upright and conscious.

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

Rachel just kinda stared at Jax a bit of an annoyed look, she insisted he come back? She just said that he would be stupid to die outside in the cold when he had somewhere that he could be. Also, she didn't just tag along, he litterally told her to come with him for Pete's sake.
She huffed softly as she spoke, he made it sound like she had insisted she cared for him, which she didn't.
He needed to get his facts straight.
Though, she did realize that she didn't know his name either, and just kinda followed him to this house. Which essentially made her tense that this might be some sort of trap to take her stuff or maybe even to kill her. Sure, it didn't seem that way but she didn't want to be too careful at this point.
It was the apocalypse.
She just grabbing her bag as she stared at Cassius, just nodded to him and not saying anything.

@Pizzaz11 group

Shaun looks at Jesse again, flicking the ashes from his cigarette onto the ground. "Welll, maybe I didn't want to smoke inside out of the kindness of my own heart, and your dog might've shattered my cars window just to get to Fish. Soooo.." Shaun shrugs a little, tapping his fingers against his car. "I have more than dog food, by the way. Food, water, not to mention me, the loveable comedy relief of everyone's life-" He snorts, laughing a little. Surprisingly his laugh isn't even that bad. It's just a nice avergae laugh, compared to his horrifying smile. "As long as you help me fix my car. That was the deal."

@Dayzed forum

When Angela said nothing, Cherry decided to wrap Pip's hands herself.
Cherry got up and moved a little closer to Pip to be in a more comfortable position. Before wrapping his hands though, Cherry used the same stuff Jesse used to fix Angela's leg. Maybe using her stuff after everything had gone down was a bad move, but Cherry was determined on fixing what she had done, she'd repay Jesse tenfold if she had to, but right now she was determined on helping the kid out.
Cherry looks at the bottle. Getting into more trouble with Jesse didn't seem worth it, especially since the bottle had almost nothing left in it, she would definitely notice, but Cherry grabs it anyway.
"This is going to hurt…maybe a lot, but I'm going to need you to be strong" Cherry says as she pours a little bit of it onto part of the gauze to use it to clean Pip up with. This much would have to do, after all, the stuff was hard to come by these days.
Cherry slowly presses the gauze onto Pip's hands, ready to blow some air on the wounds to help with the stinging if it was too much for him.
Taking care of someone in this way reminded Cherry a lot of her parents and how kind they had been to her whenever she got hurt, which hadn't been often. So when she heard stories of other's parents being awful to them, it appalled her. She knew there were bad people in the world even before the apocalypse, but she couldn't imagine anyone being unkind to their kid, or hurting them.

@Fraust

Peregrine watched Cherry closely, clearly wary and not entirely sure what she was doing. His hands already hurt without any rubbing alcohol, so of course he expected it to get worse, but he couldn't have anticipated just how badly it was going to hurt. He froze up when the rubbing alcohol came in contact with his wounds, in shock for a moment before he wailed in pain and tried to pull his hands away. He squirmed and trembled, knowing he needed to keep still, but having trouble doing so since staying put just meant that his hands were going to hurt worse. He could feel himself growing more lightheaded and dizzy as well, and it was growing increasingly difficult to keep his eyes open.

His parents had never been caring or attentive in the best of times, but they had both deteriorated when the apocalypse happened. It became much more important for Peregrine to almost cease to exist in the interest of not being found by zombies or other poems. His interests and wellbeing were never considered. Pip sniffled weakly and hiccuped, holding Dog Man Jim close with the arm that Cherry wasn't working on.

@Dayzed forum

Cherry quickly blew on his hand and stopped momentarily. She blew air on it until she was certain she could proceed. She did this about three more times, maybe more, but who was keeping count?
Noticing that Pip was about to pass out, she looked up at Angela.
"I'm going to move him to the back" Cherry said to Angela in more of a statement than a question, not asking for permission. In the back was a bed, Jesse was the one who slept there, course, they'd move Pip somewhere else if Jesse so wished it, but for now, that's where she was moving him.
"I'm taking you to the bed, okay?" Cherry said, picking him up gently and quickly hauling him over to the bed so he could lie down.
"Feel free to sleep here for now," She says, uncertain where things would lie when the dark hit.
After moving Pip, she stopped cleaning Pip's wounds on one of his hands and started wrapping it, starting at the wrist, wrapping around twice before going to wrapping it between his fingers, going down to his wrist, then back up to the fingers. Cherry did that one more time for safe measure.
"Okay, other one," She said, trying to be as light and soft with him as she could. Repeating the process one more time, Cherry had finished up with Pip, now what was left was to give him something to eat.
The beans, right.
Cherry moves to grab the opened can.
"Do you think you can hold it to eat it? We don't have any clean spoons, so you'll have to tip it and eat it like it's a soup" She explains. "Be careful not to hurt yourself on the rough parts," Cherry adds.
"The candy bar will be here waiting for you when you're done with the beans," She says, feeling lightheaded herself, but paying it no mind. Cherry was an adult, she could hold out, her problems were the least of all the worries they had.

@Fraust

Peregrine was pretty limp by the time Cherry picked him out, and he looked dazed and out of it. His hands were throbbing, as was his head, and his head felt far too heavy and hot from the fever. He relaxed a little when he was laid on a bed, but now was slipping between phases of consciousness as he tried his best to stay awake. He didn't really have the mental strength required to properly fight exhaustion and fainting, however, and he wasn't very responsive.

When Cherry had finished with his hands and asked him a question, it sounded to Pip as though they were underwater. Her voice was garbled and distant and certainly not intelligible. His head lolled to the side limply when he tried to look at her, which suggested that he likely wasn't capable of holding anything at the moment. Not without spilling it all over the bed and himself, that is, which would probably make Jesse pretty angry in addition to being a waste of what little food they had. Pip attempted to say something, but his words were slurred and mumbled and probably not even words.

@Fraust

Name: Lukas King (goes exclusively by Kas)

Age: 13

Gender/Pronouns: Demiboy, he/they

Sexuality: Bisexual, male lean

Shipping: Probably not, but not out of the question if more characters are added

Appearance: (Extended) Kas is very small, standing at only 4'11, and he has a lithe, fit frame. They're athletic enough to fend for himself, but they're also only 13, so he has a lot of growing to do in that area. They have a lot of scars littering their body for various reasons, mostly on his legs where they're hidden by his leggings. They sometimes tie up their hair into a very small ponytail to keep it out of the way.
(Old art I'm sorry sdgjkl)

Personality: Kas is extremely stubborn. He hates accepting help from others unless it's absolutely necessary, and he tends to be very withdrawn and snippy with unfamiliar people. They can come off as rude, and are rude at times, but he's fiercely loyal once he likes someone. They hate being cooped up and they hate keeping still, if only because he really can't stay still for too long. If he sits with his thoughts for too long, he gets very anxious and irritated, so they prefer to be doing something productive. If they're physically incapable of doing so, he becomes even more irritable than usual. He also has a 'healthy' amount of typical teenage discomfort and confusion regarding himself, and they have trouble deciding who they are and who and what they like. This, of course, also tends to make him irritable.

Backstory: Kas' parents were always annoyingly carefree and very unprepared for serious situations such as an apocalypse, but Kas was still close with them and loved them. Being so unprepared for the world crashing and burning, they were killed and turned early on in the apocalypse and Kas was left to fend for himself. Without a healthy way of coping, Kas has tried to repress all feelings and memories of their parents, but he still hasn't recovered from their deaths much despite this. They just try their best to deal with their emotions bubbling over on his own, without anyone around to make fun of him or worse, pity him.
