She rolled her eyes but laughed lightly as she talked, "The one that included one blackout drunk Lars that I had to make sure didn't make too big of fool of himself?" Eudora wrinkled her nose at the nickname, then glanced at Rosie and smiled again, "Is he really that good? I haven't heard anything by his son, but if he's anything like his father he has to be good."
Zara sat in silence as she watched her friends banter and tease each other. "I missed this." She said with a smirk. "We really do need to get together more often."
”Oh… The one where you took me back to your place and I was too hungover to move the next morning?” Lars nodded a little embarrassed by that memory. ”But I had so much fun being taken care of by you. At least I didn't make a habit of it.” he said unapologetically as always. ”Maybe we should try to go to one of their shows sometime… Together, I mean. Like we used to.” he suggested sincerely for the first time that night.
"That's the one." She nodded, shrugging and winking at the male once again, "That's the price for me to agree to your proposal." Eudora's face lit up at the suggestion of going to a show and she nodded eagerly, glancing at the other three, "I think that would be an amazing idea, definitely. We have to do that sometime, hopefully before I have to fly to the other end of the world and start another life."
"You don't have to do that too soon, do you?" Zara asked, raising an eyebrow. "I swore you just did that not too long ago." She rested her chin on her hand.
(@PrettyLittlePyro, you can come in whenever you want.)
Rosie looked up. "Did something happen?" She asked softly, putting the menu down. "Why so soon?"
One thing Lars knew adamantly about himself, aside from being unable to permanently die, was that he wasn’t the marrying type. ”Why would I apologize for that?” he smirked a little softly, not willing to hurt his only real friends in the world. He rolled his eyes at Eudora’s mention of starting over. ”That’s always such a hassle. It was easier during wartimes…”
"I did it..what now fifteen years ago?" Eudora ticked the years by on her fingers, then shrugged, "Someone has already asked me how I look like I haven't aged a year since I've lived here." She chuckled and shook her head, tapping the menu, "I probably have a year or two left here though, so no rush. I know what I want to get by the way, anyone else? I'm ready to get off the depressing topic of starting over."
"If it only the people close to you, just move to another town, no need to move to another country yet." Zara suggested. "You could come stay at my place if you want! I wouldn't mind a roommate." She joked.
”I’m guessing none of the usual lines are working if you're serious about having to leave…” Lars raised a brow slightly. He knew Eudora was smart and would have already tried that tactic, even if it only bought her another couple years at best. He shook his head, though he agreed with getting off this topic. A little reluctantly, he removed his arm from Rosie's shoulder to call over the waitress. ”Everybody else know what they want?”
Eudora shrugged, then laughed lightly, "Sometimes people are more keen than others, none of my usual excuses have done anything. This is my fourth move around the country in less than seventy years, it's probably time for me to hit the road for a while anyway. It's just fate telling me at this point." She smiled gently, winking at Lars and then grinning at the other two girls, "You're free to come along, we could go for another 'family' road trip?"
A smirk spread across Zara's face at the mention of a road trip. "I would love to go on another road trip with you guys. As long as I don't wake up face down in the Mississippi River again." She said, nudging Eudora with a smile. "Can we make a rule of no getting blackout drunk this time around?"
”Oh, come on Zara. Getting that drunk is half the fun.” Lars chuckled, shaking his head a little. ”What’s the worst that can happen? We've all woken up with each other at least once. Plus, I got a few homemade brews we can bring along.” he winked, hinting at his unforgotten hobby from the prohibition.
Rosie smiled. "Well, as long as I don't get alcohol poisoning again, I'm in." She said, playing with her bracelet again. "You know I can't turn down a good trip. Haven't since the sixties…"
"Oh the sixties!" Zara laughed. "No one questioned anything back then! I could of said I was a dragon and they would of asked me if I had a joint." She said with a smile. "I would mind if you bring along your own alcohol, Lars. I swear, your stuff would actually kill a person, sometimes."
Rosie nodded. "Yes, exactly. I think I gave poor Elvis a heart attack last time I had one of your creations. He thought I died!"
Lars laughed heartily along with the others. ”I remember that. God, I miss the 60’s. Everyone is so paranoid nowadays and almost everything fun is illegal.” he sighed a little. ”Alright, alright. I’ll just bring one jar and it’ll be a weaker one. Nothing added.” he comprised.
Eudora laughed and nodded, grinning at Lars, "I think you're the only one we have to keep from getting blackout drunk. The rest of us know how to behave, even with that alcohol of death running through our systems." She loved trying out his different concoctions, but like the others had already shown, even a shot of whatever he made was enough to not remember an entire night. "Well it's settled then, a road trip to somewhere is a necessity. Only rule is we have to actually do some exploring, and not just drink our hearts away. As soon as you three are ready to pack up for a while."
"It's still weird to think that little Elvis became such a big shot." Zara reminisced. "He seemed like just a kid at the time. Then, all the suddenly, he was the King of Rock."
Rosie nodded, smiling. "I know. He was such a scrawny little thing, too. Then the next time I see him, we have to run from a bunch of screaming teenagers! I still have a bite mark from one of the girls, I swear!"
Lars nodded at the memory. ”Kid had talent, but the hair? I really don't think it was necessary.” he chuckled. ”So, where are we heading on this trip? Mt. Rushmore? California? Statue of Liberty?” he asked, leaning forward in excitement. ”I still have the party bus we took last time. And Eudora, you know the last time I got blacked out was in the 80’s. I should be good for another decade.”
Zara laughed. "You and I both know you don't still have a bite mark." She protested. "And if we're all in agreement of this roadtrip, we need to decide how long we are going to do this, and what are some must go places?"
"I say we visit all fifty states again, like we did when we first got that bus," Eudora suggested, smiling brightly, "At least one place in each state, and then, if we have time, try to explore some of Canada and Mexico." She nudged Zara with her arm as she added, "Personally, I'm in the mood for a long road trip, it's been way too long since I've gotten blackout drunk. Mortals don't know how to party on a road trip like we do."
Lars grinned at the suggestion, nodding in agreement with Zara. ”Ain’t that the truth. Well… If we do that, I might as well bring more than one jar.” he chuckled, already planning to take at least half a crate with some variety. ”Let’s just not go to too many historic sites. It's too tempting to correct the tour guides… Or make fun of them.” he shrugged with a shameless smile. He didn't mind nostalgia trips but this was going to be a fun trip. Being immortal did allow for certain freedoms that others couldn't have… It was easier to focus on those than missing old friends.
Zara nodded along with everyone. "So no going to historical places, because we all know Lars can't stop himself. Does anyone have any must visits?" She asked as she stared to rummage through her messenger bag. She eventually pulled out a map and spread it across the table. It was of the United States, with some of Canada and Mexico as well.
Eudora grinned and snorted, glancing at Lars, "They're just doing their job Lars…but yes, it's too easy to correct them, especially when we played a part in certain things. I have to put in a request for Yellowstone park, if anything, as well as one for as many beaches as we can hit on the west coast." She tapped California as she talked, as well as Wyoming.
Rosie looked over at the map. "Mind a stop at the Hollywood Forever cemetery? I have a few friends I haven't visited in a while there. Besides, they usually have some cool grave markings."
”All sounds good to me.” Lars nodded, looking at the map. ”Let’s see… If we get a chance, I would like to see the Petrified Forest Park and I wouldn't mind a visit to Alaska either… Maybe Niagara Falls if we get close.” he suggested.
"Any places to add, Zara?" Eudora asked, her grin changing into a soft smile, "I wouldn't mind stopping at the Hollywood Forever cemetery, I have some friends I can visit as well." Even if the people in the cemetery were long dead, she hated thinking of them as gone forever, and tried to limit the use of 'was' and 'when they were alive' when she talked about them. Made her forget that she was going to outlive almost everyone besides the other four sitting with her.
