Name: Andre Waylon
Age: 21
Pronouns: He/Him, Male

He has curly, long-ish brown hair (Kinda like Matthew Clavane, if you know who that is). His eyes are a green/blue color, rather like the sea itself. They turn darker when he uses his magic. He typically wears a loose, cream colored shirt, or a dark jacket, sometimes both at the same time, along with dark pants. His left ear is pierced, though he doesn't always wear an earring in it. He has dimples when he smiles. He wears a signet ring on his left hand, though he never tells anyone who's signet it is.

Adela walked from the docks deep into the bustling center of Port Royal. The sun set against the horizon behind her, casting everything in golden light. Her boots clicked on the cobblestones and the wind whipped her coat around her ankles. Above her, women in corsets and lowcut dresses leaned out of window sills, making eyes at the men below them, who had just started to walk into the many taverns and drinking halls that filled the streets.

Her keen brown eyes cut around, searching for danger, possible crew members, possible enemies, and good places to find a drink. She had been here once before when she younger with an old crewmate of hers. "Keep your head high Adela," she had said. "Watch out for the drunk men and the slavers." Adela walked into the low doorway of a tavern that was already filling up fast. She ordered an ale at the bar, being sure to rest her arm on the handle of her sword, so the bartender wouldn't get any funny ideas. She slipped him a few extra coins to point anyone looking to join a new crew in her direction.

She took her drink to the back of the tavern, picking a table in a corner. She propped her feet up on the table and took a sip, prepared to sit, drink, and watch.

@Moxie group

(Alright, now your characters could come into the tavern. They probably shouldn't notice Adela right away, but they should do something interesting enough to get noticed by her. Or they could ask the bartender. Just make sure your decision fits your character.)

@Shadow_Knight group

Caleb walked into the bar a few minutes after Adela. He knew this was one of the worst places to be but he trusted a few people here.
He had been trying to get a job for weeks but he had no luck. His stature didn't help. Being 5'2 and incredibly skinny mean that he couldn't do much heavy lifting
Caleb sat down at the bar and called the bartender over. They chat a bit about some of the jobs that were avaliable.
"I'd say your best bet for a kid like you is Adela." The bartender advised as he pointed out the woman in the corner.
"A girl?" Caleb asked in a hushed tone, sound curious. "Why would a girl be looking for crew members?"
The bartender shrugged. "Don't know but if I were you I'd go talk to her. See what type of people she needs. Heck, she might even be desperate enough to take you." He laughed.
Caleb scowled before grabbing his drink and heading over to the table Adela sat at. "Do you mind if I sit here, mam?" He asked, eyeing one of the seats next to her. He spoke softly, to show he wasn't a threat. Of course, Adela more than likely wouldn't see him as a threat as he looked scrawny and he didn't even have a visable weapon.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Andre made his way inside the tavern, his sword belted at his side. His movements were full of that smooth, rolling motion of an already experienced sailor, whose sea legs were, perhaps, better than his land legs. He ordered a drink, plopping down into a random open seat, his gaze scanning the area without concern. The male was on the lookout for a new ship, as he had been kicked off his old one for…well. Sodomy. He ran a hand through his hair, letting out a slow breath. He had gotten off lightly, he knew. Most men caught like that were hung. He had just been kicked off the ship. Of course, that was most likely because he had been on the crew of blockade runners. Smugglers. Outside the law, for the most part.

@PaperHats business

Ryin was already within the tavern, standing on one of the worn tables and strumming a lute. Many payed him little to no attention, but he was getting payed. Little. Very little. But every coin counted.
He began to stand as his song “swelled,” as much as a lute could ever. His worn bandana swayed with his movements, and he bellowed out a joyful sailing song he used to know, taught to him by his grandfather. His lute looked like it could fall to splinters any minute now, but Ry strummed it carelessly, the strings making gleeful tunes.
His voice was quite high-pitched for his age, and he was skinnier than most. Still, it did the song little justice, though it was recognizable. Thankfully, that’s the only thing he was going for.

@Moxie group

Adela took around the tavern. Beautiful music cake from somewhere deep in the tavern. The sun outside had finally gone down and with it, the tavern had become full, hot, and loud. Drunk men sat around, boasting about the gold they had plundered. Some showed it off by drunkenly buying rounds of drinks for strangers, or having two or three women sitting on their laps.

A voice got her attention. She looked the scrawny kid in front of her up and down. He acted as though she was a scared cat that would bolt at any second, which made her nostrils flair and her eyes roll. She couldn’t afford to be treated as weak. She drained the last of her drink and slammed the stein down. “Who’s asking?”

@Shadow_Knight group

Caleb flinched slightly when Adela slammed the mug down, but straightened himself out in the blink of an eye so it was barely noticeable. "Alright. So she's not messing around. Means she probably won't take just anyone. Also means she probably won't take me." He thought.
"Caleb Brooks, mam." He said, a bit louder than normal. "I heard you were looking for a new crew and I'm interested. You the Captain?"

@Moxie group

Adela halfway hadn’t even expected the bartender to be helpful, this was Port Royal after all. He could have taken her money and done nothing. But no, here was someone sent her way. “I’m the Captain.” She would see if this person was worth her time. His flinch made her feel better. She nodded to a nearby chair, took her feet off of the table, and started talking when the kid sat down. “Brooks, was it? Yeah, I’m looking for a crew. Tell me why I want you.” Would people looking for work be annoyed at her gruff bossiness and high standards? Adela was about to find out. If they couldn’t handle this, they wouldn’t be able to handle her as their Captain.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Andre took a deep breath, and turned to the bartender, asking him if there were any captains in need of a crew, and if so, who they might be. He gave a short list of his accomplishments, saying that he had served previously on ships, and had plenty of experience. As he spoke, he twisted the signet ring on his left hand, a nervous habit that he couldn't quite seem to shake. The bartender gestured to a girl called Adela, who seemed to be speaking to another male at that moment. Andre nodded in thanks, slipping a tip across the bar to the man while studying Adela.

@Shadow_Knight group

Caleb sat down when Adela gestured for him to sit. "Though I may not look it, mam, I'm strong. I can navigate, I can tie 16 types of knots, I'm good with a gun and decent with a sword, and I've got good set sea legs." Caleb rattled off, realizing the reasons weren't all that good now that he said them out loud. "How big is your crew, Captain?" He asked, curious. Not many people around here would accept a woman as a ship captain.

@Moxie group

Adela's eyes glanced around the tavern. Two men a few tables away leered at her. She barely saw them before she quickly looked away. A man at the bar seemed to be watching her out of the corner of his eye. Other than that, most people didn't pay attention to her.

She turned back to the boy in front of her. He could be helpful. Adela seriously doubted that he was stronger than he looked, but he came to her, and beggars couldn't be choosers. And she was currently very short on bodies. "Is the size of my crew a reason I would want you?" she snapped cooly.

@Shadow_Knight group

Caleb shook his head. "No, miss. Just me wondering." He explained. He didn't want to admit to her that he hadn't worked a large ship before. He was hoping that there weren't too many people. "What happened to your last crew?"

@Moxie group

Adela rolled her eyes. "Good god man," she muttered, leaning back in her chair. She clenched her jaw and thought for a moment. It was wise to take him. She needed a crew. And at the rate this conversation was going, if she didn't end up needing him, she could probably just fire him for insubordination. She leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees. "Alright. If you can stop asking so many stupid questions, meet me at the northwestern docks at dawn." She kept her voice low, lest anyone overhear them. "Now do you have any questions that aren't stupid?"

@Shadow_Knight group

Caleb furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. What made the question stupid? Alright. Granted, it could be kinda stupid. Maybe she was just short handed or she had lost a crew member in a storm, but something about the way she acted gave him the impression that those weren't the reasons. Caleb thought for a minute, trying to find a question that wouldn't get him belittled. "What is the pay?" He asked after a minute.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Andre tied his thick brown hair back into a loose bun, a few stray curls poking out from it in stray wisps. He stood up, rolling his head from side to side and letting out a breath. He needed to get out of this city before his father tracked him down again, and for that, he needed a ship and a captain, or crew. Or both. So he made his way over to Adela, waiting a little ways away. He would have gotten her attention simply by coming over, but he would wait until she was done with the other male.

@Moxie group

Finally, a question that didn't make her roll her eyes. Adela was impressed. Maybe the kid would be worth something. "We split our loot evenly throughout the crew. The crew isn't very big, so pull your weight and you'll get your fair share." She noticed someone out of the corner of her eye. She didn't turn toward them immediately, but she stayed ready to fight if she needed to. One could never be too careful in Port Royal, especially when one was a girl. "You got a sword, kid? Or a pistol?"

@Shadow_Knight group

Caleb nodded at the pay. Honestly he would of been fine with just being on the ship. "I have a pistol and a dagger, miss." He answered as he eyed the man who approached Adela. "I will see you at dawn then." He said as he stood up, grabbed his drink and walked away from the table. He smiled as he exited the bar. He had finally gotten a job!

@PaperHats business

Ryin was extremely occupied with his song, yet when words drifted to his ears in accompaniment with his lute, he stopped his strumming. It was gradual, but the song ended and he tied the instrument back to his belt, kicking off from the table and observing.
A couple people had gathered around a woman, for reasons Ryin didn’t know. Yet, whatever they were, he’d know soon enough. The curiosity got him into trouble often, but sometimes out of it as well.
However, he stayed put, watching as they talked. Waiting for the right moment to walk up and pipe in.

@Moxie group

Adela nodded, watching the boy as he left. She was grateful someone was interested. Maybe the boy wouldn't be as bad as he looked. Now she just needed to find a few more people. Not an easy task when you only had a night. But for the moment, she had another matter to attend to.
Adela put her elbow on her chair and turned a little so she could see the person standing to her left. He was a man about her height, and he was looking at her. He looked a few years younger than her, and didn't look like too much of a threat. Not like some of the men here, anyway. She raised an eyebrow and gave him a look that said: "Can I help you?"

@ElderGod-Icefire

He plopped down into the chair near her, shrugging his shoulders. "I guess we'll see. I heard you were looking for a crew." he replied, running his hands through his hair for a moment. "So. Can you help me, or am I just wasting my time?" he needed to get out of the city and on a crew, and right now she looked like his best bet. Most likely.
