He looked up at her, "Women normally don't take so liking to me so fast.."

“What? Fifteen birds?? How do you even afford this much?” Pierre tried to ignore the chicken, looking around at the beautiful decor. Even before the war, he would never had dreamed of luxury like this.

"Oh, it doesn't cost much really. All I need for the poultry is seed.. they mostly care for themselves. Delta is the expensive one," Edonine replied.

The hen fluffed it’s wings and hopped up onto the couch, taking an experimental step forward. Pierre shooed it away with his hand, leaving it squawking indignantly on the ground. “This one’s got attitude.”

"Oh, that's Judy. She's a royal pain in my [rear]. Pecked a rooster to death once." She sighed.

Jane blinked. "Well, what else is there to know about you?"

He stood up, sliding the money into his pocket. John looked at her, curiously, gently.

Jane arched an eyebrow. “You think if you live alone in this house with no one to talk to all day while your father is away in the city and you don’t get lonely, you will be in for a rude awakening.”
