"Oh yeah..sorry I forgot." He said, rolling over and kissing her cheek.
Macha curled an arm around his waist. “Stop apologizing.”
"Whatever you say.." Tyler answered sleepily, wrapping his arms around her and slowly dozing off.
She planted a kiss on his cheek, closing her eyes.
It was only about an hour after they had fallen asleep when Tyler sat up suddenly. "Finally letting me out? You've been particularly happy these past weeks. What's changed?" He laughed coldly, peering around the room. His bright red eyes landed on Macha and the demon grinned.
Macha’s eyes flew open, her sleep-fogged brain recognizing the voice immediately. Her heart in her throat, she jumped off the bed.
"Don't run away just yet darling. I haven't even started with you." He snarled, standing up and walking over to her.
Macha flattened herself against the wall, trying and failing to get control over her breathing. After a second, she peeled herself off and took a step towards the demon.
"I missed you.." He said, still grinning as he took her hand, inspecting the ring. "So this is the reason he's been so happy, huh? I wonder what changed? Why he's let me through. He wouldn't be mad at you, would he?"
Macha shook her head vehemently, tearing her hand away. “No. You don’t miss me. I miss Tyler. You called me darling? That’s not you speaking.”
"Well, I guess I don't miss you exactly. I miss your pain. You were so..stupid, letting this boy into your life." He said, growling suddenly and stumbling back a bit.
Macha took a step closer to him, willing herself to be brave. “No, you were stupid to think that you could beat him.”
The demon glared at her and pushed her up against the wall. "And you were stupid to think that marriage would keep you two happy and together forever. I will always be here Macha. You can't get rid of me." He said this all very quickly as Tyler slowly gained back control of his own body.
Macha kept her chin up, hands trembling. She stayed perfectly still, meeting the Demon’s eyes however much he scared her. “Then kill me. I dare you.”
"I'd be happy to.." He said, wrapping his hands around her neck and squeezing hard. Tyler suddenly cried out and let go of her after a couple seconds. He took a some steps back with much difficulty, reaching up and punching himself in the head, collapsing a couple seconds later.
Macha choked back a cough, crying out weakly to Tyler and collapsing onto her knees beside him. “Tyler??” She took hold of his shoulder.
Tyler didn't answer, or wake up. He was breathing heavily and was frowning as he lay there unresponsive.
Waves of panic crashed up against her but she refused to give up. “Tyler!” Macha heaved him up into a sitting position with difficulty. “Oh god— Tyler answer me—“
"Fine..i'm..fine." Tyler breathed out, backing away from her and falling back over onto his side. "Just need to.." He trailed off, falling back unconscious.
Macha swore aloud, shaking him again.
Tyler whimpered in pain but didn't open his eyes, instead reaching out and finding her hand. He held it tight as he lay there.
Macha clasped his hand in both of hers, eyes searching his face for any trace of the Demon.
Tyler's face seemed to relax and his hand went limp in hers. His breathing became quiet and steady and he looked at peace finally.
As much as she was happy to see the pain leave his features, Tyler’s sudden stillness frightened her. He was alright.. wasn’t he?
He was probably fine, just exhausted from overcoming the sudden attack that he wasn't prepared for. Tyler sighed softly, holding on tight to Macha's hand.
Macha sat down beside him, keeping a firm hold of his hand. You’re so strong… rest, Tyler. Sleep, love.
Many hours later, Tyler finally stirred and blinked awake. He glanced around, very confused on why he was laying on the floor and sat up, pain shooting through his head and making him lay back down, overcome by dizziness.
Macha felt the pain as if it was her own. Her eyes flew open— she had never fallen asleep— and she quickly took hold of her husband’s arm. “Tyler?”
"Why are we on the floor? And why can't I remember anything that happened last night? And why does my head hurt so bad?" He questioned, wincing a little as he tried to sit up again.
Macha pushed him back down, biting her lip. “You’re not going anywhere unless it’s that bed right there, understood. And…” She swallowed. “Guess who came back…?”
