Barry nodded, stifling a yawn and rubbing his eyes. “How’s your side feeling?”
Barry nodded, stifling a yawn and rubbing his eyes. “How’s your side feeling?”
"It's fine. It actually doesn't hurt as badly as I thought it would," Kasey declared thoughtfully.
He smiled gently. “That’s good then. What time is it?” Barry’s eyes were itchy, still blurry from exhaustion.
"Just after six am. Sorry it's so early," Kasey apologized, crossing the room to grab some things from her dresser.
Barry shook his head. "It's fine, I was awake anyways. Do you want me to… turn around.. or go to the washroom.. or…?" He stumbled awkwardly over his sentence, indicating to her closet.
Kasey smiled and shook her head.
"No, it's okay. I'll change in the bathroom," she said, already on her way there. "You can eat what we you find, if you're hungry."
"Thanks.", he mumbled, limbs heavy. Pushing himself to his feet, Barry rummaged around in the bag he'd brought and pulled out a soft, baby blue, brown, and white flannel shirt and jeans, getting dressed as quickly as possible after she shut the door to the bathroom behind her. When he was done, he gave himself a quick once-over in the mirror,– okay, not quick– brushed his hair, and pulled his reading glasses from his bag, along with a textbook. He studied while he waited for her, although his mind kept drifting back to his dream as he took the ring out from beneath his shirt (remember, it's hanging on a cord) and fiddled with it.
Kasey changed into a plain, light pink and black skinny jeans, then pulled her hair into a ponytail. After putting on some mascara and a bit of pale pink lip gloss, she glanced over herself and nodded once, satisfied with her appearance. Granted, most of her would be covered with a black apron, but at least the rest of her would look nice.
She brushed a start hair behind her ear before stepping out of the bathroom. Seeing Barry studying, she smiled and shook her head a bit.
"Nice shirt, Bare. Is it new?" she wondered, grabbing her purse and keys from near the door.
Barry shrugged, a small smile on his face. "Mm. You look…" His eyes flickered over her form. "Nice." His heart tattoo pulsed pink, but he turned his head away so that she wouldn't see. "What's your first class?" His makeshift bed was wrapped up, he'd drop it off in his dorm and pick up the rest of his books on their way out.
"Thanks. I have the early shift at work this morning, but then I'll go to calculus," Kasey explained with a loose shrug. "You can stay here if you want, but I actually have to go, now."
"I'll go back to my room." Barry stood up, grabbing his bag. His glasses slipped a little, but he left them as they were, mostly because his hands were full, but also because he was secretly hoping Kasey would lean over and straighten them for him.
(Can Physics just go die in a hole?)
"All right. Hey, if you're hungry you should stop by the cafe," Kasey said, giving him a smile. She quickly pushed his glasses back up before walking over to put on a pair of light pink converses. "We've got the best scones, right now. They're strawberry-glazed."
Barry's cheeks went faintly pink. He hadn't expected his wishful thinking to become reality. "Uh- sure. Sure. Good idea." He slipped on his shoes at the door as well, a pair of paint-splattered Vans. "I like scones." And you.
"These are literally the best, I promise," Kasey said, grinning as she stepped outside.
Barry followed her, stopping only to drop his blanket off in his room and grabbing his bag. Naomi and Caleb were gone already, they'd headed out early. "I bet they are. Just like I'm the best at card games." He grinned, still blushing slightly. "Last nigh didn't count.
*night
"Uh-huh. Sure," Kasey teased him with a laugh. "You might have to prove that to me sometime."
“Why don’t we play after class today? When do you get off.” Barry saw the opportunity and seized it. “The prize for winning could be chocolate, Caleb has a huge stash, plus he owes me.”
"Yeah, sounds fun! My classes end around six," Kasey said, looking over at Barry with a grin. "Just you and me, or can our roommates come?"
“Mine end at five, most are in the morning. And I don’t mind, up to you.” Please don’t say yes…. I want to be alone with her… Barry smiled easily.
Kasey thought for a moment, then shrugged. "Kenzie might not come back before then, so unless you wanted to bring your roommate, then I guess it'd be just us."
"I'll ask Caleb, maybe he'll take a second away from his girlfriend to come.", Barry joked, hoping he wouldn't. "So, scones." Yum.
"Yes, scones! I think I can get you a discount, too, since I work there," Kasey informed him with a grin as she started toward the elevator after locking her apartment door.
Barry offered her a crooked grin. "I'm beginning to think this is your best idea yet." Walking by her side, he made sure to keep his strides languid and matching her speed, knowing that if he walked at his normal speed his longer legs would push him ahead of her. "How's your side holding up?" His eyes flickered briefly down to her hip, then back up to her eyes.
(I think I was flirted with at work today… That was very awkward for me…
Also, sorry. I was in the shower.)
"It's good. Still sore, obviously, but I'm sure it'll. Be that way for a few days," Kasey said with a shrug. "What colors did you end up picking?"
(was it welcomed flirting or unrequited?)
(and np)
Barry ran a hand through his hair, shaking it out. His glasses were still perched on his nose, despite the fact that he didn't need them unless reading. "Deep blue, fading into a medium periwinkle, touches of gold, a tiny bit of indigo and violet."
(Very much unrequited. I think he was middle-aged, and I'm 17… It was weird.)
Kasey nodded slowly as she pictured it. "Sounds really pretty. What about the mood part?"
(god that sucks I'm sorry)
"Thanks. The whole thing turns deep gold when you're really happy, moderate amounts of happiness are sort of bronze-ish. Depressed is black, no shimmer, tired is grey, sadness is deep grey-blue, getting lighter the less likely you are to cry. Brown is bored, pink is flustered, green is excited, red is angry— the darker it is, the angrier you are, orange is pissed off. Purple is sort of… lost in thought. If you're a mix of emotions touches of the corresponding colours will appear. Oh– and silver is for hollow and un-feeling."
"Oh, wow. You went really in depth! That's so cool, I can't wait to see it," Kasey enthused, her eyes lit up.
(Yeah…)
(sorry):
Barry shrugged bashfully. "Thanks. Um, glad you liked it."
